Really bad experience. We came from 4 hours away for a show and came early to have brunch here because we had such great memories of it being fabulous. Ordered a bread basket which was delivered after a long wait with the rest of our food with the exception of my daughters oatmeal. I doubt there is anything the fellow who delivered our food (not the waiter) could do about it, but every time he spoke, he spit on my husbands sandwich. My daughter started eating bread since she didnt have her food and realized the jam jar was empty and they didnt bring any butter. We shared our food as we waited for hers to be brought out. A good while later, we saw our server and asked about her oatmeal & some jam. Another good while later, he came back and said they didnt have any oatmeal. He didnt even ask if she wanted anything else - I had to. She ordered a sandwich at twice the cost of the oatmeal. We never got jam or a refill on drinks. My husband had ordered a side salad because he wanted one in addition to his croissant sandwich- it turned out his sandwich came a salad so he ended up with two /o When we checked out, the server told the person (I assumed she was the manager) checking us out to take the oatmeal off. So I ended up paying for a sandwich that was spit on, an unneeded salad (that was eaten,) my french toast which was great, bread that no one ate because there was no butter/jam, a sandwich my daughter half ate because everyone was so disgusted and ready to get out of there. The checker/manager(?) said "sorry we didnt have any oatmeal" and I replied "it really wasnt a problem of not having oatmeal but that no one told us." They just didnt bring her anything. Her response was something along the lines of "we were super busy haha" I dont think I have never not tipped a waiter until today. Im not a picky person and I waited tables at one point so you can do almost anything and get 10% out of me and 25% if you are super.

Remember that this is my experience, not dependent on any experience of any other person. We went to this organic restaurant for breakfast, Saturday morning. There were quite many people in there, the outside part was full, so we were seated inside, which was just alright as well. The waiters and waitresses all were really kind indeed, though there seemed to be some kind of miscommunication between them, so someone only came to take our order after quite a while. It took most of the entire time, until the food was served - around half an hour in our case. We are from Germany, so we really cannot stand any typical American white bread or toast, thats why the homemade black bread is pure enjoyment, Im sure it is for everyone appreciating good food. I can only suggest you to take the "Bread Basket", simply amazing! The rest of our order - tea, blackberry juice and an omelette were just fine as well! The atmosphere was just as youd expect it to be in an organic restaurant, clean, friendly, green and full of light, makes you feel good and welcomed. Adding up to that it is indeed clean, the restrooms are alright to use. Id say, if youre in a hurry, this place is not where you wanna go, if youre up for a chilled, comfortable breakfast or lunch though, "Le Pain Quotidien, Georgetown" will just be the right place for you.

For some odd reason, this review appeared under The Georgetowner. Ive never been to The Georgetowner, but Ill never forget Le Pain Quotdien. The only thing I can comment on is the coffee. At 2.50 for a two-cup pot of coffee, it certainly wasnt worth the ten minute wait. While I can understand a considerable wait time for meat or complex dishes involving cooking, we ordered the black bean hummus and the avocado tartines-- fare that is beyond simple, and certainly does not take almost twenty minutes to prepare for an empty restaurant. What was most annoying was that after our waitress brought our coffee, she disappeared and we had our order taken by another waiter-- after which our original waitress reappeared and had no idea we had our order taken down. After thirty minutes waiting for nothing more than pureed chickpeas smeared on bread, we paid for our coffee and walked out. Both of our wait staff were lounging by the register and didnt even bat an eye when we passed. There is absolutely no reason for a hummus sandwich to cost ten dollars when the price of all the ingredients is less than four, and theres even less of a reason to take twenty minutes to scoop something out of a tub in the refrigerator and smear it on bread.

Went there on a Sunday, my friend and I (both easy going young professionals) waited over 30 minutes for our food to arrive (porridge, fruit, a baguette and a side of salmon!). The waiter finally brought my baguette and let me know (after 30 minutes wait) that they were out of salmon! The person sitting a table away from us, who had arrived 15 minutes later had her food brought out to her at the same time. Ordered a drink, waiter had to come back to ask again what drink it was (Cappuccino...). Brought the bill, was another tables bill. To the waiters defense, waiter was running around like crazy trying to serve and clear away a great number of tables whilst many other waiters were just hanging around the till chatting. Nevertheless, waiter seemed half-concerned and rather smirky about what was going on, only said sorry when bringing the bill. Needless to say, waiter was not tipped (my first time in 8 months in the US). There was a big management problem that lunchtime. I believe another manager stepped in at that point (with a red pullover) and things started moving. Looked for him on the way out, but didnt see him and didnt want to waste anymore time in this place.

I eat out a lot and thus spend a substantial amount of money on places I like. My rule of thumb is to always feel I’m getting my money’s worth ideally by all these three: a good meal, a nice place/good atmosphere and good service. On Sunday afternoon I got nothing out of Georgetown’s Le Pain Quotidien. Service was so appalling that I had to stand up and leave. In the 20 minutes I sat there, I never got a glass of water (which I asked for three times), much less the drinks my large party of three ordered. The waiter had no idea –he admitted he was new– to which I sympathize: I’ve been a waiter myself and never knew more than 3 beers from our list (this guy knew nothing). But I don’t want to be hard on the new waiter but on management. There was simply no manager in sight; no one who cared how terrible their service was. I’m happy to eat out and spend money on food/drinks but never when service is this bad. Make yourself a favor: do not go to Le Pain Quotidien. p.s. I’m still waiting to talk to the Manager…

I was on vacation with my fiancé, and my friend who is in the Navy. We went in for a bite to eat before taking the train over to the Holocaust museum, and it was by far the biggest mistake I have ever made. DO NOT GO THERE. The bakery was the only good part about the restaurant. The food took about 40 minutes to get to the table, and it tasted absolutely horrible. The service was by far the worst service I have ever received and when I made a complaint to the manager, he told me it wasnt his fault so why does he care? I left the server a $5 tip, and she ran out and grabbed my friend by the hood and asked why she only had $5 as a tip. I explained to her exactly what Im saying now, and told her that not only did she just assault a man in the military, but she was by far the worst server I have ever had. I will never go back to that horrible place, and neither should you.
