We have been here four times, which might be 2 too many. I do not think we will be going back. Today, Sunday, they were busy as usual. When you pack as many tables in here as they do with as busy as they are the service or food is bound to suffer. Today that was the case as well. For the third time I order the home fries crispy and they came out barely lukewarm and mushy. The toast (again), may have been toast once, but only cold brown bread by the time I received it. The pancakes also barely warm. The coffee was ok but when the waitress is in such a hurry that she pours both mine and my wifes so fast that the coffee overflows and fills the saucer as well, how on earth do you add cream? We sat at the bar today, right where the waitresses get the water for the customers. I usually make small talk everybody and they are so busy, most were not in a good mood or gave the impression they were not. Perception is reality, right? The saving grace today was a waitress named Jamie (not even our waitress), she could tell something was wrong when she walked by and fixed it(new food cooked right) smile included. My wife and I thought she was awesome. Two minutes later the OWNER demeaned her in front of all the customers at the bar, telling her she is not allowed to mix anymore drinks as she keeps screwing them up. I watched her make the screwdriver, vodka and orange juice, not brain science. I also know she is a bartended elsewhere, so she knows how to make a drink! Just very unprofessional from an owner! It made us uncomfortable!!! I had no intention of putting anything online, I would just tell the owner when he cashed us out. At the register, no interest in seeing how things were. As a matter of fact no words at all. Besides mentioning Jamie as a gem we have to make sure we mention Margaret as well! These two would be employees if I ever ran a business!!!

I went here for lunch two weeks ago. I had a severe fall in the restaurant, none of the staff readily assisted me or asked if I was OK. The elderly eating there was more concerned and telling staff to help me. Eventually the lady that cleans the tables that spoke no English got my waiter that was older and they helped me up, after laying there for a few minutes. No manager ever came over asked was I OK or anything. The new cook came to check on me after I was up, to see if I was Ok and give me ice, he also helped me to the car, he was nice. I called today to speak with the owner or manager and John, who by the way was very apathetic, rude, and flat out disrespect was not interested or concerned. He said he had people coming in and had to get back to the register. REALLY, I kept asking him the owners name and he wouldnt tell me just cutting me off with he dont have time, wow I was shocked, then he has no clue when the owner will be in the store. Took my number and hung up on me! WHAT KIND OF MANAGEMENT IS THIS!!! I am reading these reviews and Im sick to my stomach, I can now see why this place was the way it was. There would be no way someone falls in my establishment and I dont take a report ask for a name number etc, or help them. I guess I see now how I will have to handle this, as if the pain Im feeling from the fall isnt enough, I wont be going through NO disrespect from here!

Hubs and I went here with our infant. We were accommodated right away, and that was the end of our experience. We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. 10 minutes later she came back and muttered about how no one ever brought our drinks. She came back several minutes later and dropped them off. We asked her if she could take our order while she was there and she said yes. 25 min. later we had no food and had no refills. we ordered off their customer favorites list, it wasnt that we ordered something special or hard to make. Both tables on either side of us had the same experience. The people across from us wanted to wash their hands but their only bathroom was OOO, so they told her they couldnt accommodate. We had tickets for a capitol tour that we were going to be late for so we decided we were going to leave. On our way out, hubs stopped by to talk to the manager/ owner looking person and told him we were recommended to go here and very disappointed that we waited so long and were never served. Hubs asked if he wanted us to pay for our drinks ( coke and tea) and the guy had to think about it before saying no. Ended up not being able to eat for 4 more hours b/c we were already a few min behind catching our tour.

My husband and I enjoyed dining at this place for the past three years. Im sad to report, this will no longer be the case. On Sunday, my family and I ordered to-go meals from here. We had a very busy Sunday and this was the only meal that I ate for the day. About three hours after eating the meal, I began to feel very sick to my stomach. In fact, I was up half the night going the bathroom and it felt like my insides were trying to come out. It was an awful experience. The next day, I decided to call Table Talk. First off, I began to get the run around and then they had the "head chef" call me. He began to talk about how clean they are and it must be something else I ate that made me sick and it wasnt their food. They did not apologize and they pretty much refused to give me a refund. I was told the owner would call me and I never heard from anyone again. We were completely shock! The previous time we ate there, I felt a little sick after but I thought it was something else I ate. However, this time it was definitely this restaurant because it was all I had to eat that day. Its very unfortunate about their response to the whole situation too. PLEASE be careful if you choose to eat here!!

Truly a cozy Diner with outstanding service. Our server provided Goldstar service during our visit this morning. We went early to avoid the prime time rush walking from our nearby hotel. As other reviews indicate the food comes out quick and prepared exactly as you would like it. Egg omelet was perfect, grits had just enough butter, This Restaurant location is a gem in Old Town Alexandria. The only negative if any is that you pretty much need to order off of the menu there is a minimal amount of customization. As a production shop type food establishment that makes sense. If you have business or pleasure in Old Town Alexandria and need a comfortable place to go to eat you must consider a visit to the Table Talk. (Just inside the front door if you walk to the right there is a small step uneven floor so take care, but hostess warns you about the "funny floor grade". Bathroom is reasonable...for a restaurant!)
