I often say the only Mexican part about me is that I like enchiladas. I also like tamales, especially on Christmas Day. Tamales on Christmas are the only thing I know. Though I dont miss CA enough to go home every Christmas, I do miss my tamales. Lauriol Plaza on Christmas Day had to suffice. I went to Lauriol Plaza around 6 pm on Christmas Day. Wait time: 0 minutes! Score! Automatic 5 stars, well until you find reason to deduct stars. The table for two is pretty small. There were flowers arranged along the side of the table, and that and our bowl of chips practically took up the whole table. When our waiter brought our appetizers and plates, it was like a puzzle trying to figure out how to best arrange the table so that everything would fit. I enjoyed the tamales. Im used to eating beef tamales, but chicken tamales were their only option. The good thing was I then had nothing to compare them to, because Ive actually never had chicken tamales before. They were a little spicier than I would have liked, but not enough to make me cough and tear up, which I do rather easily. (Im telling you Im not really Mexican) Now, on to the important stuff, my cheese enchilada plate. I liked that they put the beans in a separate bowl, because I dont like beans, (as I hinted, Im really not THAT Mexican), and I dont want them contaminating my plate. The enchilada sauce was actually kind of sweet. The first time I had a BBQ Chicken Quesadilla from California Tortilla, in some weird way it reminded me of an enchilada. With the sweet sauce on these enchiladas, I was then reminded of the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla from California Tortilla. They are pretty much the same thing. Strange, but true. I love the BBQ Chicken Quesadillas, so this should be a good thing, except I wanted an enchilada. Basically, the enchiladas at Lauriol Plaza are just a sweeter version of Cactus Cantina. I ordered a Key Lime Pie for dessert. That was the smallest piece of pie Ive ever seen. The waiter was quick, and refilled our water three times. I could tell they have super efficient operations, as three different couples sat at the table next to us during the time we ate. Overall, Im just grateful my first experience here was with a zero wait time, because anything longer than a 20 minute wait would probably not have been worth it. Id come back if I was in the area, and the wait wasnt that long, but I wouldnt go out of my way to come back.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2011 I took my out of town family to Lauriol Plaza and experienced the worst customer service! I have been there numerous occasions and never had to face such blatant disrespect, poor customer service and poor presentation. Our service was terrible and our food took an hour to come out! Customers who arrived after us were eating before we even saw our food!! We arrived at 4:00 pm and ordered our food shortly after. While waiting at around 4:30 pm we began to inquire about our order of nachos that should have came out as an appetizer. We asked to switch waiters because while waiting we ran out of salsa, chips, and water! When we got our new waiter he found out that our first waiter never ordered our nachos and asked if we still wanted them and we said yes if they were going to be complimentary because our food should be coming soon. We asked to see the manager to inform him of the service thus far. In about 10 minutes we had nachos but still no food nor manager to apologize for the inconveniences that we incurred. Our food came at 5:00 pm. Our new waiter returned and decided to card my sister after she had already received her drink and had been drinking for almost an hour. After this we had enough we requested the manager come over and speak with us again. After about ten minutes the manager came to our table and I informed him step by step of the poor service. He was unapologetic and seemed not to care that we were dissatisfied with our service. Not once did he apologize for the tardiness of our food, the negligence of our waiter, or the general lack of quality customer service. He went as far as saying, “This is not McDonalds, the food is fresh.” I then asked the Manager what is the normal estimated wait for food to be served? He then said with confidence, 20 minutes! When I told him we waited 40 minutes, which is twice as long he did not care. He repeatedly exclaimed, “I gave you the nachos complimentary!!! If you’re unhappy just leave.” So we took him up on his offer and left! We were not rude and did not cause any disturbance to the establishment! The manager would rather put customers out then to apologize and find a justifiable resolution! I spoke extremely high of the establishment and was severely embarrassed and displeased.

Horrible wait. Not a place to take grandma to. 50% Homosexual men and women clientel the guys waiting next to us in the leather biker jackets with bone accents would have been better suited in a S& M bar. That doesnt bother my wife and I but for families and people not expecting it it would be weird. Food is OK. They ran out of limes at the bar an hour before we were seated and continued to bring us Mexican beer with no limes throught the 2/12hr stay. A mexican restaraunt with no limes and no effort to get more very poor planning and action. We ordered at least 8 dos equis and 1 pitcher of dos equis with no limes. Not good! Someone should have run down the street and got some way before you ran out it is an ingredient in many of your dishes and drinks. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and the thing was 4 1/2 inches long and not crispy at all more like a burrito than a chimichanga. By far the smallest serving I have ever had at a mexican restaurant. The waiter never even asked how our food was. Sunday March 2nd was the first I had had been there in a while but it sure seems things have changed for the worse. I wouldnt have to post this negative review here but Lorial plaza/s web site says it has a comments section but it is disabled. When I called the restaraunt this morning to ask how ai could send a comment a non-english speaking woman answered the phone and could barely even speak at all it sounded like she was sleeping and I was able to get out of her no manager here and no english. . Who lets non-english speaking employees answer the phones. -Dissapointed customer
