Had the pleasure of dinning at MXDC about a week ago with a large group of friends. After spending the day bar hopping throughout DC we were pretty rowdy and hungry. About nine of us got to MXDC around 8pm with no reservation. While the hostess checked on a table that could fit almost 10 people I was greeted by Ani (one of the managers) who made us feel super welcome and her staff promptly showed us to a table that could quickly accommodate my party. Being that this was our first time at MXDC, the waiter made sure to point out all the all-star items MXDC had to offer as well as their large selection of tequilas. Everyone in my party was pretty stoked to hear that list. After we got our drinks, Ani came back to check on us and recommended that we try the Lobster and Guac dip. I dont normally get excited over dip but LORD! Honestly, I think Id come back just for that dip. As we grubbed on chips n dip and chugged a couple of Modelos, out came our meals (everyone ordered tacos). I would also say the price is definitely reasonable and the presentation was great! The meats tasted soooo good! It was like butter melting in my mouth (Kudos to the Chef)! After I finished my tacos I ordered the Flan, which was rather small but I loved every bite of it. Overall the food was excellent and it was cooked to order. For the ambiance, the vibe was chill and the space was large so it didnt feel like we were annoying anyone with our drunkenness. The display of the tequila bottles were nice to look at and dream about drinking them all. Throughout the evening of loud laughter we got paid a visit by the head manager and he too made everyone feel extremely welcome while expressing his gratitude for choosing MXDC that evening. I highly recommend MXDC to anyone and everyone. Even though the portions are not what many would prefer, I definitely believe in quality over quantity. If you want an overstuffed burrito with a staff that doesn’t look you in the eye, then take your culo to Chipotle. MXDC quality ranged from food to a friendly staff that actually looked like they loved working there! Again, Ani and her crew did a phenomenal job making our overall dining experience one to remember. I definitely plan on return to MXDC soon for that dip and shots!!

Visited this restaurant on 06/5/2015 at around 7:50pm with my wife and our two sons. We had reservations for 8:30pm, but the hostess told us not to worry that we were early and found us a table within 3 min even though the restaurant was full. Our waiter Mohamed was very efficient and took our order quickly with drinks and appetizers arriving in less than 10 min. Our water glasses were kept full at all times without we asking. We had the Traditional Guacamole, the Tacos de Cochinita Pibil, the Tacos de Carne Asada, and the Beet Ceviche, all as appetizers to share. The tortilla chips as well as the green and red hot sauces were great... I wish I had their recipe.... As a main course we had the Pork Shoulder and the Terres Major Steak plates in their to share plates. The food was Delicious! I had been to this restaurant last year, was impressed with the food, and decided to return with our sons (aged 26 and 19). They both loved it. Will definitely return to this restaurant on our next trip to DC. The food and service were great! This is not a quiet restaurant, but then we did not expect it to be. When leaving we told the hostess that we wanted to speak with the manager who arrived within 3 min with a very concerned look. We told him what we described above and his demeanor changed to relaxed and happy, ....now if I could only find a recipe book for MXDC...

Im afraid I was very unimpressed with MXDC. Ultimately the food just wasnt that exciting, but it was expensive. I got fish tacos, my husband got carne asada tacos, and we both remarked that there wasnt much taste to it. No kick, not a lot of flavor, nothing creative or tasty going on. We were also bummed to see the portion size. My $13 tacos came as three tiny tacos (perhaps two bites each). Not much for a dinner. I was curious to see if other Yelpers had the same experience, and so read a few reviews before sitting to write this one now. It sounds like the tacos might actually be tapas, but that doesnt make sense to me. First, that isnt marked anywhere on the menu. Second, thats very expensive for tapas. Third, our waiter gave no inclination of this being the case; and we were clearly there to eat dinner.. we didnt arrive at 5 or 9pm, you know? This was prime dinnertime. The saving grace was the free basket of chips (and salsa). Again, just okay. But it kept us from feeling 100% ripped off, you know? Doubt well be back.

If I could hive this place a lower rating I would. This is the first time I have given a bad review online...that is how horrible my experience was at this restaurant. A rude and very inappropriate waiter cat-called me on my way to the table, then he "apologized" with the lamest excuse that what I heard was actually him speaking to the hostess, as if his sexual harassment of his coworker would in any way redeem his conduct. Did not get to see the manager during my visit, and only got the lame excuse from the cat-caller, never a genuine apology. I also wrote a message to the restaurant after my visit, which has not even been acknowledged (hence my decision to write this public review). And tHen there was the food, which was really nothing special or exciting, truly just underwhelming.

I made a reservation for Saturday, June 6th at 5:15 p.m., using Open Table. At 2:15 p.m. (same day), I received a voicemail message from a woman speaking a million miles an hour that sounded like "cancel". I called the restaurant and spoke with the same person whod left the message. She said, were closed for a private party, and your reservation is cancelled. No apology .... no "lets reschedule" .... no explanation of how it could have happened in the first place. I asked to speak to a manager and she said, "Whats your name?" My advice to the restaurant manager -- if you need to cancel -- thats OK. Just dont have that young lady call the customer to let them know!!!!

The food was delicious. The portions sizes were a bit small-but that meant I was able to share guacamole and a tapas order and dessert without over eating. By small. I dont mean tiny either. It was just right. Had meat a la parilla-great, with grilled avocado, and corn on the cob-great-but no skewer or extra fork to hold it. The flan was okay-by no means spectacular. The tapas were tapa sized. The pork taco was best. Enchiladas were good too. Not cheap food, makes for a nice dinner, romantic and/ or family friendly. (Quite a few families with little kids).

Id rather eat at a taco cart. Dont get me wrong- the food is ok, but just average; and not anywhere near worth the price they charge. Chips are served out of a small cup. The margaritas are small rocks glasses with way too little tequila- and for $12 each. We were so turned off that the food just tasted ok- I cant even remember what I ordered. And $$$ --What a disappointment I really expected more from Todd English. . I seriously dont think this place will be there in 5 Years.
