I debated five stars for District Taco. Compared to other DC eateries, its 5 stars. Compared to the worlds eateries, its 4 stars. Either way its a great meal and we will ABSOLUTELY be going back. We each got three tacos. I got the barbacoa (beef), carne asada (beef) and fish special. All on corn tortillas. My favorite was the fish with its great sauce on it. The meat in the carne asada was *killer,* that taco (and the barbacoa) just needed some wetness, so I added salsa. We also shared a small guacamole with chips--very tasty guacamole, and chips that were nice but a little too salted. Overall, it was all delicious! Certainly helping is their salsa bar. There are five salsas, and theyre all worth a taste. We ended up loving the pico de gallo (especially tasty!) and the darker salsa. For six tacos, one guacamole, and one chips, it came out to $19. A little more expensive than I usually see for these kinds of tacos, but absolutely doable and worth it. Finally, I really appreciate that their "frequent customer card" is by the piece, and not by the visit. This is one of those cards where it you get 10 stamps, you get a free taco. We ordered 6 tacos, and they gave us 6 stamps. I only expected 1 stamp, maybe 2 if we were lucky (one for each person). But 6! Very generous.

First off, best tacos Ive had on this coast. It was nice to see a few meat options besides beef and chicken. I only had the tacos so thats all I can comment on. The corn tortillas were decent, and the options of toppings is nice. At 2.25 each, not a bad deal in the city. I thought the carnitas was the best meat, tender and flavorful as carnitas should be. The carne asada was a little chewy and not particularly flavorful. The pastor, which is generally my favorite, was a bit dry and bland for what is generally a very moist and flavorful pork. The inclusion of pineapple was different. As for salsas, nice to actually have a salsa bar with [most] all the fixings. The roasted salsa and green were pretty good, pretty mild by my standards. The red was somewhat hot but lacking in other flavor except some bitterness. Definitely got to go street taco style with the onion and cilantro. All-in-all I would come back due to my love of Mexican food and a general lack of options on this coast. I would like to try their breakfast amongst other options.

Stopped by for a quick to go dinner with my husband and his friend before watching the game at our place. Unlike chipotle where you point and watch your order assembled - you put your order right at the front counter. Loved that they offer fish, shrimp on their weekend menu and all their dishes were made to order. There was also a salsa bar where I must had taken one of every kind that they offered. My personal fav - the green sauce! My husband ordered their tilapia tacos and I opted for their veggie salad. Our orders were completed and given in no time. Foods were fresh and tasty. However, they didnt offer corns? And Id much rather point, ask for extra spoonful of toppings, and watch my food put together. Although loved it a little less than Chipotle, would definitely return for their shrimp and fish weekend menu.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, and while there was no one in line, there was nowhere to sit, as all the tables were full. Luckily some opened up shortly after we got our food, but I think they could have laid out the restaurant a little better to accommodate more guests. I do like that they bring your tray of food to your table, and deliver it with a smile. They also made sure we had everything that we needed. Tacos were good - medium sized & I liked that you can mix or match your 3 for $8 tacos. I had the carnitas, the al pastore & the chicken, the American way+sour cream, which were good, but not the best Ive ever had. They also forgot the sour cream. The queso & chips and the guac were pretty good. The help-yourself salsa bar was a cool option. For a quick lunch, this was a good choice.

This place is awesome. I usually like to avoid the taco chains, but I had to give this place a try. We ordered the Barbacoa, Carne Asada and Al Pastor. The trick with this place is to PILE ON THE TOPPINGS! Add all the toppings thats listed on their menu and add the premium ones if youd like. The Pastor had the nice pineapple marinated with their house made guajillo salsa. Barbacoa here is a little different not as sweet as other places, but the tender meat is a plus. I could tell the steak was just taken off the grill with each piece having the fresh hot grill marks. You cant beat 3 tacos for $8 in the District. Ill be back to try the ensalada and burritos. Parking is always tight around this area, but I seem to always find parking around the Staples about a 5 minute walk away.

I thought Chipotle was the best thing ever once they started serving breakfast burritos with chorizo as a meat choice. Now I can get chorizo at all hours of the day thanks to District Taco. Because I love chorizo so much, I was a little bit confused about why it was only listed as a topping, as opposed to a meat choice, but I like chicken, I like chorizo, and I like it when I can combine the two items to make one amazing taco (or three). They messed up my order once. I asked for a side of rice, and they put it inside my tacos. Not that I really cared, but I got to enjoy twice as much rice after they brought me a brand new side of rice. Yum. The cards they give you to identify your order are pretty cool. I really love it when I receive the purple elephant.

Good taco/burrito joint thats not Chipotle but not some local one off joint. Tacos were good, 3 tacos for $8 or $9 bucks. Youll have to order chips and salsa with them if your like me and need a side of something. Queso was good but not memorable. They have "natural" sodas... Gimme a break I really just wanted a Diet Coke, not a natural diet cola that tasted far too much like Pepsi. Seating is limited, theres some upstairs. During my visit there was a combination of people waiting for their order to be called downstairs and walking up after, and people who just walked up and plopped down on a seat and made the runner bring the food upstairs. Ill let you decide which person is right.

“Pretty awesome. Ran a spotluck search on a rainy day and ran up a 25% coupon so figured why not! The chips and salsa were incredible. Ate a ton of them. They have house made guacamole in a small (think regular bowl of salsa size) and regular (think 4-share). My friend wanted it less spicy so they made us a batch with no jalapenos which was excellent! One of the meals came with the standard guac and that was (from a spice-lovers pov) pretty awesome. I had the Enchiladas de mole and not only was I completely full when I left, they were one of my top 5 mole experiences ever. The flavor was *right*. Im excited to go back. Prices are on point too! This new spot is a must-try.”
