Ordered carry out from there once, and will definitely not be returning for the dine-in experience. The food was completely mediocre Tex-Mex, two stars on the food (more on that below). But the carry out service experience was awful. Got there to pick it up and was asked for order number, which we hadnt been given. Then was asked to describe order, which I didnt know, because my wife placed it. Was told they had no other way to look it up, then I said that a white guy had taken the order because my wife had mentioned something about their not being able to pronounce Jalisco. That seemed to trigger bells and the carry out server found a scrap of paper in the back with the order on it, but it hadnt been placed in the system. They asked if I still wanted the order, and with a hungry group of people at home and nothing in the fridge, it wasnt really an option to say no, so I said yes. So she rang me up and handed me the bill -- it was almost $100 and I asked for a discount for the delay. Didnt want anything major, just 15-20% for the hassle of my having to sit on my ass an extra 20 minutes. She said she couldnt do it and called the manager over. He then proceeded to yell at her for not telling him about the situation, then went off and yelled at the dude who took the original order, then came back and brusquely asked if I still wanted the food. I said, yeah, I still want the food and then he ran off to the kitchen. Came back 20 minutes later and the managers there with the food and the bill, which still has no discount. I asked again for a discount for the trouble, and he was all like "Trouble? What do you mean? I put your order at the front of the line!" We went back and forth a little about it and he decided to give me a bag of chips and salsa to get me out of there. Total jerk to his staff, total jerk to me -- never going back. Food wise, mediocre fish tacos, mediocre enchiladas (wrong kind, not what we ordered), standard cheese quesadilla, mediocre nacho platter, decent sopapillas, decent chips, awful house salsa. Maybe a small step up from Baja Fresh -- definitely not for anyone looking for proper Mexican food.

This place does not even deserve one star! I went there today with my sister for happy hour. We ordered a pitcher of melon margarita which was awful!!!! It tasted like syrup. We moved on to sangrias for some hopeful redemption. In the meantime they had complementary chips and salsa. We placed our food order and I also ordered guacamole to come out as an appetizer. The guacamole was not fresh! It was so creamy and tasted pre-made as from a package and not made in house fresh. The only chunks in it were tuns of chopped onions and tomatoes. I asked the waiter if it was made fresh and what were the ingredients. Something in my two bites of it was immediately not agreeing with me. The waiter asked if I liked it. I said no and he said no problem and took it away. Great problem somewhat solved. So then a manager, who proclaimed to be the owner comes over angrily with the guacamole and say I insulted him! Jose Alvarez owner of Mi Rancho Silver Spring, MD. I replied that I should be insulted. Not only was the guacamole not fresh or good. As an owner instead of having a dialogue or trying to make things right you yell and be-raid me in the middle of the restaurant as Im sitting down to still enjoy my time there. Never will I go here again or recommend such an establishment that does not value good customer service nor good or well prepared food and drinks. Then they had the nerve to send out another bowl of guacamole. If the first bowl was so good and made right why would you send out another bowl?! I told the waiter never have I had such an experience. I had him cancel our entire pending order and we paid our tab and left. The owner continued to approach me ans argue to defend himself. Offering to show me receipts of purchasing fresh avocados. It was very bizarre. I still feel very sick to my stomach.

I hated this place.....the customer service is very poor! They dont check on you often (or at all), especially if they recognize you and feel you shouldnve given them a bigger tip the last time you were there. I do like the food (its good, not great, so if thats all you care about and dont expect much from the servers, then its a good place to go. A couple of times, I wasnt satisfied with the way they cooked my steak and even after I let them try again, it was burnt so I wanted my money back. They didnt want to give it to me, even though I had only eaten half of one piece of steak. It was too tough to eat more. And they really dont know how to make good drinks if you want something besides a margarita. They really gave me a hard time about it and was very rude about it as well. Poor customer service. One of the managers there is really nice and the other one doesnt seem to know much about customer service. The one in Rockville has better customer service than the one in Silver Spring. I actually really enjoyed the one there, but Silver Springs location is not that great. The bathroom is not only the size of a stall, but is usually not very clean. I think Ill just do take out when I eat at this location--but that will still be a last resort place to eat.

Ive been going to mi rancho for years and I love it. I usually get mixed fajitas (Saltillo platter.) I love the food and its served quickly even when its busy. The tortillas are made fresh which is the main reason I go. Only downside is sometimes they are stingy with the tortillas and wont give you extra. Ive been a loyal customer for years and even then they made no exceptions. I tried to complain to one of the middle aged managers/owners at one point and he was dismissive and rude. The elderly owner always recognizes and talks with me dad and Im pretty sure he would have been more accommodating. Still 5 stars I just dont like the entitled younger to middle aged managers who seem to be way to comfortable with just being on autopilot.

Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. A great place to go just the two of you, or with kids. The big covered patio is terrific and is open most of the year since big heaters warm it in the spring and fall. In winter, the indoor restaurant area is cozy and nicely decorated. The owner or one of his relatives comes around and talks to patrons, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is a huge TV on during major sporting events-like the Copa Americana, but the sound is off, so it is not intrusive if you dont want to watch it. This is not a sports bar. Many people come here to celebrate milestones. There is always a big gathering somewhere for a birthday, retirement or graduation or quinceanera.
