I love Sushi and have eaten it all around the world at over 40 different places but this was easily the best Ive had anywhere. I went last Saturday for the first time with a group of friends at 7:30pm. All you can eat for dinner is (as of this review) $15.99 and I was expecting to choose sushi from a buffet table that was decent but not great. This place makes everything fresh and to order so if its crowded make sure you order a few items right away and plan for a 10-15 minute wait on each order. (note you can order whole roles or 2 piece at a time if trying something you havent had before) We started out with Black Pepper Tuna, the Salmon Bowl, and the Crab Rangoon for appetizers all of which were incredibly well presented and delicious. Best with a group of 4+ as the portions are fairly large. I think it was 8 piece for the salmon and at least 15 for the tuna. Crab Rangoon was 6 pieces. Then we moved onto entrees and got: Sea Angel Roll Dynamite Roll Snow Crab Roll Dragon Roll (must have, shaped like an actual dragon and very good) After killing those off and sharing all we moved onto: King Roll Hawaii Roll Spicy Tuna Roll I honestly loved every single dish. The flavors were so smooth, delectable, and the spiciness never overpowering. Our 9 year old daughter doesnt eat sushi (yet) and the $6.98 for kids is slightly pricey if all they are going to eat is chicken nuggets so be warned. We topped our meal off with cheesecake (which is included) and will definitely come back at least once or twice a month.

usually i go to this location and i love it, today not so much. the "manager" was our waiter the only thing he did was get our drinks. he ignored our table, wouldnt even look at us when he walked by and would pay no attention to us when we tried to wave him down. the usual waiters were nothing but helpful. we were there for 3 and a half hours just waiting and got one refill and got two plates. we only got them because we had to ask someone walking by to help. the manager was completely unprofessional, when we got our checks we were just expecting for some kind of discount seeing that we had such a terrible experience and we had complained multiple times, but we didnt. when we asked, the manager cussed us out and said "the only thing i can do is give you a discount because its not coming out of my pocket" completely rude. never will i ever go back to this location again. being busy is understandable, but cussing out customers who have been nothing but cooperative and nice is something i wont tolerate.

Paid for a lot of sushi, picked it up, and got home to find out they didnt give me part of my order. My fault for not checking, but I immediately called and after them telling me I had to drive back to get it. I got halfway there and they called me to tell me because the ticket they had said it was in the bag that I would have to pay again for the food I paid and NEVER received. I also had given them a tip way over what they should have gotten. So I lost the money for part of the order I never got, I also paid them a tip they didnt deserve. Their customer service is ridiculous. They repeated my order FOUR times and she said she triple checked to make sure we had everything. Clearly they cant be trusted. I will not be returning and I will be telling anyone I know that comes here about this experience. They did nothing to make it right, and they are lacking honesty. Take your money elsewhere, they are thieves. Learn how to run a business. Dont drive away customers.

The food looks like the outside appearance of the restaurant. HORRIBLE. Stay away. Spend 10 more dollars and get better sushi!! I went here today with my mom. We ordered a seaweed salad and some miso and they were HORRIBLE. We should have left at the start but instead we decided to stay for the sushi. We tried 6 different rolls and they were all equally bad. They contained mostly rice which seemed very old and left over. The ginger on the side was not fresh as in most places. The "crunch" served with a lot of rolls was stale. Overall everything seemed like it had been sitting there for 3 months. A couple hours later I began feeling very nauseous which rarely ever happens as I have a very tolerable stomach. I dont understand how people reviewed this as almost 5 stars and its the only reason I chose to try it.

I love this place. The specialty rolls are delicious and the concept is just great: you pay one price and you get to order as much sushi as you like. Its not a "sushi buffet." Everything is made to order. I avoided this place for the longest time, thinking that it was buffet style. Not so. You place your order and then it is made. Everything appears just as delicately and carefully made as if you were ordering at any sushi bar. I usually order traditional and specialty rolls when I come here, but recently I tried their traditional nigiri, and it was surprisingly good! The rice was the right temperature, consistency, and they cut the fish thin, the way I prefer nigiri. The service was great. The host was very pleasant. This is a well-run establishment, a gem.

My brother and I love this sushi location. We dine here often, so often that we have a few favorite waitresses. But.... Today I didnt have such a great experience. It seems as though they are under new management with many new employees. I had to wait 15mins before my server initially came over to take my drink order. She then went to clear tables and another 15mins before returning to take my food order. After taking my order she didnt go and put it in, instead walked around a bit. I spoke to the manager he was very nonchalant about the situation and wasnt apologetic at all. If you plan to dine here the food still has its same great quality taste, but beware of the serves you may receive not as satisfying!!!

I was really surprised by the quality and value of this place. For $15.99 (dinner price) it is all you can eat and made fresh!! The whole entire menu, including appetizers, speciality sushi rolls and as well as Dessert was all you can eat. Every roll I ordered was FANTASTIC!!! There were even a few rolls with Mango and Banana in them and to my surprise, were amazing. I dont normally do reviews, but I was beyond impressed with this Sushi place that I had to write a review. There are a few places in Newport News that have quality Sushi and I am telling you this is one of the top ones and not only that, you are getting a great deal.

Decent sushi considering that the service is sub par. The inside is very nice and organized and the parking lot is not the best looking but not horrible too. Prices are a bit on the expensive side but it balances itself out since it is all you can at sushi. The catch is, if you do not eat all of the sushi you are charged extra per piece. Service is decent however some of the waitresses and waiters lack knowledge or enthusiasm to do their job. Will only go back because Im a sushi junkie, there are other Sushi King locations that offer better service and better taste.
