Id stayed away from Royal Buffet after a bad experience several years ago, but a friend recommended I give them another try and now Ive been a regular customer again for about a year. Yes, this is a buffet, with the kind of generic entrees youd find in most Chinese take-out restaurants in the US. There are also a few American entrees and a decent selection of fruit, pudding, pastries, and ice cream. If you go during the peak lunch or dinner hours (the place is huge and Ive never had to wait long to be seated), the food is fresh. The food tends to sit in the steam table and overcook when business is slow, so at mid-afternoon some of the entrees may not be very appealing. Theres enough variety that I can always find something I like, but this is why I rate the food only "Very Good". The buffet also includes all-you-can-eat sushi--nothing exotic, but with several varieties to choose from. As with the other food, the sushi is not as fresh at off-peak times. But, really, its about as good as you have any right to expect from a Chinese buffet. Ive had much better sushi, but not at this price. Finally, theres a Mongolian barbecue style setup thats also included with the buffet. Ive never tried it, but it seems to be popular at dinner time. At the very least, Id expect this option to be fresh any time of day. You get all this for about $7 at lunch and $10 at dinner. So, even though Royal Buffet may not be a reason to drive to Willimantic, its well worth a stop if youre already there.

We used to go here all the time and really enjoyed the food until we had an incident where we were harassed by the staff there. We had been part of a group and I left before my family and paid for them. I clarified several times and even pointed over to the table. They assured me they knew who I was paying for. When everyone else left my friend who was hosting the get together then paid the remainder of the bill. My daughter had left her backpack and when her father went to get it back they accused him of not paying and TRIED TO HOLD MY 5 YEAR OLDS BACKPACK AS COLLATERAL until he paid them more money after the bill had already been settled. I could almost understand the confusion except we go there ALL the time and we give them a lot of business. The service has not been as good lately either I keep having to go to the serving station to ask them to bring our drinks. If you want Chinese buffet in Willimantic, skip this place. Try Peking House in the BJs plaza. Its a little smaller but the atmosphere is nicer, service is better, food is better quality, and its cheaper!

Id been living in Willimantic for the last 6yrs and I often eat at this buffet on Main street. It was good untill today, I took my family there and all the food tasted like they put in too much salt for every thing. Thing started to get even worst when the new owner telling us that we cant have too much crab legs !?!, i was shock since he only targeting our group, the receptionist came over and feeding us with crap like "since the price of food going up, the owner trying to limit spending on this item..." . We got really angry and left the place and wont ever coming back to that again. You all should avoid this place as well.

As far as buffets go, this one is pretty good. There is a wide variety of food and it taste good overall. They do have some classic American foods, a sushi bar, desserts and salad. For the cost you can easily find multiple items to suit your taste. As far as being authentic Chinese, it isnt and that may bug some people. It taste like and feels like buffet style. Its good and nice if you are hungry or want a lot of options, but dont go in expecting to find something amazing. I go often and would recommend it if you want a buffet in the area.

My friends and I come here almost annually, and while weve never had a truly bad experience, weve never had anything particularly "great" either. Its a pretty typical of what youd expect, decent on price and pretty average on options. Unlike most "Chinese" buffets I have visited however, the Royal Buffet has ice cream which is actually not that bad, Overall a pretty good example of a 3-star eatery. If you happen to be in the area and quantity and cheap price are more important to you than quality, come here.

About $8 for lunch and about $10 for dinner. Theres the typical affair of an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet, and it doesnt seem to vary much from day to day. Included in the price is an all-you-can-eat sushi bar with a variety of sushi and and a variety of desserts, including soft-serve icecream and candy. Despite what the other reviews say, Ive been here a few times and I havent noticed any glaring food-safety violations.

This is by far my favorite chinese buffet. The facility is very clean and lively. The staff is quick to serve you and take your dirty dishes. They have an unlimited sushi bar which I thought was unique and a soft serve/hard serve Ive cream bar with countless toppings. I also like that this location has American options like pizza and Mac and cheese for the picky eaters.

VERY delicious food! Service is EXCELLENT! , And they always always always restock the food constantly so everything is fresh. Also, there is food options for everyone including American foods, salads, sushi bar, grill , and lots of desert options too! The food is not greasy, it is very healthy, and the cooks obviously try their hardest to satisfy the costumers.

I used to love this place. Hadnt been in 2 years and decided to take my sons and nephews for a Saturday lunch. I spent most of the time in the bathroom. I am home and still not feeling well. The food I did eat prior to being sick was not at the usually high quality that it had been in the past. Well stick with Infinity Palace in Norwich.

For a buffet at this price level, this place is EXCELLENT. The space is comfortable, the food is good and kept fresh, the cooked-to-order grill is always good - most things are tasty, just about everything is more than edible, and the variety is exactly what you want. Go here, try everything, and enjoy!

The best thing about Royal Buffet is the hibachi. The sushi is only ok, and most of the buffet dishes are fillers. This is great for families, especially those with picky eaters, and everyone will find something they like. The selection is large and the cost is more than fair.

Excellent buffet with an equally excellent price. A huge selection of items including a wide variety of sushi and a hibachi bar. The only downside is sometimes the wait staff hover over the siding and watch you eat. Otherwise theres really nothing to complain about.

I didnt actually make it to the food. I was very put off about the way they took care of the place. My table was dirty and the bench was sunken in (very uncomfortable). If they cant clean and take care of whats front of house, Id hate to see whats in the back.
