This place is great! It is one of the few bars in Connecticut where you can smoke (its also a tobacco shop). That being said, if you dont want to be around cigar and cigarette smoke, dont come in. The staff is friendly and courteous, and are all ways ready to make a recommendation when it comes to picking a cigar, and they have a wide ranging selection. They have a great selection of scotch as well... well, they have a great selection of high end liquor all around. Be aware, though, they DO NOT have a tap system (sorry draught beer fans). You can grab a seat at the bar or in one of the comfy club chairs. I stop in on "off" nights, so I cant speak to how busy it gets on weekends. The Owl Shop is right near Yale, so you will likely find a mix of college students and staff; though, there are a good number of "non-Yale" regulars.

The Owl Shop is a great place to hang out, day or night. The bar is well-stocked with a variety of bourbon, whiskey, and scotch. Small wine and bottled beer list. The espresso martini is a must have. The menu is small but tasty; paninis, meat and cheese plates, olives and biscottis. There is a wide selection of coffee drinks and teas. Smokers of all kinds are welcome: pipe, cigar, and cigarette smokers alike. Great atmosphere/ambiance. The chairs are comfy but seating is limited. The place can get smoky, especially on weekend nights. Bartenders/waitresses are attentive and friendly. Live music on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

This is a cigar bar. The moment you walk in, you get hit with a wall of earthy, aromatic fumes that evokes a time when smoke and drink were an inseparable part of the social experience. I went along with a friend who wanted the company, but I myself dont smoke. Going here makes me wish I did. The layout encourages conversation, and the decor of the place makes you feel at home instantly. There are TVs on the wall to take a glance at whatever game is on, and the wait staff will take care of you very well to make sure your glass is always full.

The Owl Shop, there is not a better place in CT. What is better than being able to enjoy a fine cigar and scotch, while listening to a phenomenal and talented live blues/jazz band on Tuesday nights? If thats not your bag, head on in any other day after work and youll find yourself lost in the relaxing atmosphere as you sink into a deep arm chair. Excellent selection of cigars and fine liquor and beer. The Owl Shop is what keeps me in CT.

I love this place for so many reasons. Its a classy establishment that sells the finest cigars, cigarettes and pipe tobacco among many other things. The staff is beyond awesome! They are always available for me to answer any questions I may have on cigars. They have great insight to recommend a new smoke according to the various types of cigars and cigarettes I tend to crave. Overendulgenc is in pleasure feeds my spirit. L

One of my favorite places. I cant attest to the food since I have never eaten there, but the atmosphere has changed quite a bit since I was a student at Yale. When I was there, it was strictly a smoke shop. Now you can enjoy a beer or a glass of scotch with your cigar or your favorite pipe tobacco. I always love ending my nights in New Haven here with good friends.

A quintessential cigar bar-lots of leather, dark wood and brass. Good curated cigar collection, and they dont make you feel like too much of an idiot if you dont know what youre doing. Also, great classic cocktails. Manhatten is a specialty. Ask about the house blend bourbon.

This was the first place I went for a night out after moving to the area. The staff was very attentive and on top of everything. There was an amazing Grateful Dead cover band that I thoroughly enjoyed! I cant wait to visit again!
