I ordered Pod Thai with tofu to go and when I got home, I opened the food and ate some but it tasted terrible. I decided that the taste was burnt with a cover up of spices. I took it back and the worker had the manager come out asking what was wrong. I told her and she was rather unfriendly and said thats the way they make it. I told her it tasted terrible. She said they will make me another. I asked for no tofu this time as I tasted one piece and it was hard and rubbery. Also, told her no broccoli as I never had broccoli in my Pod Thai and thought that was so gross. So, I took the newly made food home and it basically had hardly any taste. Seems like the cook didnt add much of the sauce that goes onto making a good Pod Thai. Very dissatisfied and will NEVER go there again!!!! The manager lady was rude and not apologetic at all for the inconvenience of me driving back with the first bad food. I did not waste my time going back as I dont need to approach that rude manager ever again!!!

Went to Mae Kong for the first time tonight. I usually go to the Thai Room on Shield Street in W. Hartford, but theyre further away and tonight I tried finding something more local to me in Kensington. They were only about 4 miles away. I cant speak to their dine-in service since I had takeout, but the woman at the desk (who I believe was the owner, after looking at pictures on their webpage) was very friendly when we chatted briefly while I was picking up my food. I had the chicken pad thai and while it may have been ever so slightly inferior to Thai Rooms pad thai it was still very good. I also had the mae kong egg rolls appetizer (3 rolls) and they were also very delicious. I dont really think we have many local options for Thai in the Kensington area, but this place has great food and from this point forward will be my go to thai restaurant.

Mae Kong Thai is amazing! Absolutely my most favorite Thai restaurant in Connecticut and I have eaten all over the state and in many different states as well. It is very affordable, the food always comes out quickly and correct and the service is like no where else. The ladies are very attentive and care about their customers recognizing those that frequent their restaurant often and making you feel like you belong. They also make fantastic recommendations and if you dont like something that comes in the dish, they will recommend great substitutes to accompany the food. I highly recommend their drunken noodles with chicken and pad thai, and their Thai iced tea is the best! I bring all of my friends and family here when we are looking for a nice dinner out. BYOB and parking is easy on the street. 5 stars!!

Horrible Pad Thai, and way overpriced. It was like the oil in the pan had been sitting in it all day being used over and over again and they cooked my food in it, it tasted like burnt oil and was brown. It was drenched in it, worst $18!!!! I ever spent, I couldnt even eat it and I am NOT high maintenance, my spouse saw the receipt and flipped that I paid so much for it, then flipped harder when he found out it was SO bad I literally could not eat it. I wanted to bring it back and try to "return" it but the fact of walking in there again or using the gas money to do so was so unappealing I decided against it. NEVER again. YuCk, plus the girl at counter did not even acknowledge me, she was on the phone for forever but really even looking at me would have been appreciated.

Ive been going to Mae Kong for a few months now, and I can honestly say that if anything, the place is getting better. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff is all smiles. But the real draw is the food; the curry is especially delicious (in all its colors) and the chef knows how to get the level of heat just right depending on your palette. The portions are perfect in size; it is just enough for satisfy even the hungriest patrons without overflowing from the plate. My personal favorite is the Drunken Noodle and and Coconut soup, but I also highly recommend their spring roles for appetizers, and their Thai Iced Tea is banging. In short, it is my favorite restaurant in New Britain, and maybe even the whole Hartford area. You wont be disappointed.

I have so far only tried the Green, Yellow, and Red (My personal favorite) Curries, and the Sticky Rice and Mango Dessert. All very tasty, all delivered with good service, all at fairly typical (~8 dollar) meal prices. I do have one nit pick though, the Curries are a little low on substance, lot of broth, little filler. Tasty, but not hugely filling. I do tend to get the remaining broth to go, to add to my own chicken, rice, and veggies, which certainly ups the value a bit, but ultimately (And again, based solely on three dishes) its just "Okay." Dessert was great though, and no complaints about the portion size there.

This is a really wonderful restaurant. It is clean and has a wonderful atmosphere. The decorations are really nice, and its more interesting than most restaurants. They serve really yummy food in good portions for good prices! Its a little hard to find a parking spot sometimes, but the food is worth a bit of a walk. Their Thai iced tea would have to be my favorite beverage, and their chicken satay is a wonderful appetizer. Also, they have many vegetarian options! Would recommend it to anyone who likes interesting and yummy food!

I ordered food here today spent $36 when i got home the bag broke and all the food spilt everywhere i called them to let them know. They wanted me to bring back the spilt food. How do you bring back food that spilled all over your floor? They told me they would remake my food when i got there they told me to wait for the owner to come because they dont believe me. Why would i waste my time to come back and get the same food. This was my first time going there and i will never return. Awful customer service.

Best Thai food Ive had. Large portions. They know us by name. When you walk in, you will receive a friendly greeting, like youre a friend they havent seen in awhile. Its a small place and always busy. The Shrimp Pad Thai is to die for and I usually order a level 3 (spicy). Ive tried a lot of different dishes off the menu and Ive never been disappointed. We have tried other Thai places but the majority were overpriced and the portions were small.

The flavors were wonderful, I was there with a party of 8. For some reason my portion was so much smaller than everyone elses, thats the only reason Im giving 4 instead of 5 Stars. I paid $10 for squid with hot basil sauce, and like I said the flavors were wonderful but there were only about 6 pieces of small squid in it. Everyone else love their meal and I love mine but it wasnt enough food.

Top notch authentic Thai/Siamese food. I am East Asian myself and this is just as good as food at home, if not better. These dishes are simply outstanding - Golden Triangle (for Tofu lovers), Laab Chicken Wings, Green Curry (of course!), Panang Curry, Som Tum (Papaya salad). They are really good at adjusting the spicy levels, from very mild to very very hot (off the charts hot).
