My wife and I have been going here for about 16 years. Ralph and the girls are like our second family. Whether we eat in or grab food to go its always how we order and the taste is amazing. The night after our daughter was born my wife was eating her favorite Chicken Parm from Giannis while she was in the hospital. We have been here with parties of 20 down to just the two of us, the girls have always been friendly and the food is always excellent. No need to drive to new Haven or Hartford for good Italian just go to east main st in meriden and visit Giannis. I attended Culinary Institute of America and have been in the food service industry for 28 years, Ralph uses only the freshest ingredients you can find. He is an honest guy who has owned restaurants most his life and his passion and love can be tasted in his dishes. All I cam say is give them a try and you will not be disappointed. My daughter has grown up eating here and now compares any Italian restaurant we go to, to Giannis and they never compare in her eyes. Stop by see Ralph and the girls and enjoy a great dinner. My favorite is the chicken princess, veal sorrento, seafood risotto (special), clamp casino with bread to dip the butter up, chicken soup is to die for as my wife has me get a quart of it Everytime she isnt feeling well. Their pizzas are amazing as well, clamp casino pizza is.out of this world.

this was the worst restaurant we have ever went to. for their hefty prices their food was worst then arbys. i ordered the filet mignon and my girlfriend ordered the Alfredo. the filet mignon was the blandest piece of meat i have ever tasted. the outside part was all burnt and i ordered it rare. then my girlfriend told me to try her Alfredo. her Alfredo was the blandest Alfredo i have ever tasted. i thought my taste buds were shot, but she agreed that it was also tasteless. a little salt never hurt. it was like the chef that day was a student from goodwins college. additionally, their tables for two are really small. i could barely eat my "food" comfortably. the waitress was extremely obnoxious. i would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I usually think Italian food is hard to screw up; put enough cheese and sauce on something and its going to taste pretty good. Giannis managed not to even meet my fairly low standards, however. The veal marsala lacked flavor and had the texture of an old boot. I ate here with a large party, we ordered a wide variety of dishes, and no one liked what he had. Whats more, the service was mediocre at best. Our waitress had the demeanor one would expect at an all night diner at 4am. She got the job done and didnt mess anything up, but in my experience the wait staff is usually better at a place that charges $15-20 a plate. With so many good Italian places in Southern Connecticut, theres really no reason to eat here.

I have been eating at Giannis for some time, and as an insurance agent often have business lunches there. I find that associates come to see me more often just so they can have lunch here. Consistently good food and service; great bread, interesting specials every day, and generally a homemade feel to the food. One of the best I know, and very consistent. Ive eaten there dozens of times and have never had a bad meal.

When I worked in Meriden, I used to go to this place two to three times a week for lunch. I have to say that I never had a bad meal there. The food was always great and the wait staff was awesome. Everyone I brought here loved it. Even the espresso comes perfectly corrected.

Food here is fantastic. Eaten here many times and will go back again. From the pizza to entree all the food is good. Very good apps as well. Not a bar type place this is a sit down restaurant with takeout available.

Bland, tasteless, and overcooked best sum up my dining experience here. Highly overpriced for crappy food. Skip it and go somewhere else.

Best sauce in central Connecticut. Try the veal parm. or lasagna. The chicken soup is so good youll want to take a quart home.
