Even though I lived in town for over 15 years now and love Japanese food, for whatever reason Ive never went to Yooki Yama until a few years ago. That was a huge mistake. The first time I went there, I had some of the best and freshest magura sashimi Ive ever had. The Nabe Udon also was delicious, the noodles just the right texture and the dashi excellent. The restaurant is very clean, has some really nice details in the decoration and furniture, and has a very nice atmosphere. Its not a cheap place, but then again, I dont want to eat cheap food either. And everyone who knows a bit about cooking Japanese food also knows the work involved to make something so trivial looking like Nabe Udon. As always, you get what you pay for and you definitely get the best right here! The bar is the perfect spot to try some things and hang out for a while with great conversation and amazing Sake to try!

I have known the owner / Sushi guy, Seiko, for 17 years. He is fastidious about the freshness of his fish and personally goes to get it in the early AM several times a week. Eating there you encounter the same faithful people that have grown to trust in and partake in his authentic fare. He has invested his life in providing his clientele with a consistently good product. It is a family affair as well. His wife and daughter are there nightly and contribute to the ambiance with there smiles and hard work.

Food was decent, but you know, soy sauce doesnt have to be the only flavoring to your dishes, but try telling it to these guys. The place was cute, but the chairs are so uncomfortable. Its like a shuriken to the small of the back. The place also smells really bad, no I mean the worst. I was humming summers eve in my head..get it? Fishy, not so fresh. Went to Mangos after, because I was still hungry, see how the story unfolds (see Mangos review).

Fantastically fresh sushi, prepared meticulously before you by the lovely owner Seiko. We had delicious seafood soup and pumpkin soup, followed by the 14-piece sushi plate between two, each and every one of which was spectacular. Scrupulously clean and professional in preparation, with only the very freshest ingredients. No wonder this place has continued to be so hugely popular with locals for the last 15 years. Well definitely be back!

Great food. Service/waitstaff is terrible. Theyre either untrained or poorly trained. Truly unfortunate because it could be a great place.
