This is one of the best Japanese restaurants weve been to. And weve been to MANY in various states!!! I had the teriyaki chicken with shrimp tempura combination. The chicken was dark meat (a must as chicken breast is horrible as teriyaki). But the meat was these very large charbroiled moist chunks of chicken. The tempura was very light and included a large mushroom, large broccoli, carrot, large onion, green pepper and more. I always get extra teriyaki sauce for my tempura and their sauce is amazing. My hubby had the curry udon and it was delicious. We both had California rolls and they were perfect. Hats off to grand junctions SUEHIRO JAPANESE RESTAURANT!!! My chicken teriyaki and shrimp / vegetable tempura plate which included rice and miso soup was only 9.99. Hubbys large udon soup was 7.95. The calif rolls were around 5.50. Large portions!

Im an avid visitor to Japanese restaurants wherever I go, however this is the first time Ive run into one that looked so real and yet was so disappointingly fake. The ambiance of this place is great, however both meals Ive had didnt remotely resemble Japanese food. As an example, the curry udon appeared to be made with generic indian curry powder, chicken stock, carrots, broccoli, onion, and udon. The preparation of the katsu-don (カツ丼) looked akin to vomit, and sported a katsu sauce consisting of only sugar and a clear base, such as rice wine or miso, making the dish quite dull. Overall, very disappointing if youre after Japanese food, but certainly not a bad place if you want to sit at the sushi bar and socialize.

Suehiro is one of two sushi establishments in GJ that we frequent and is a staple of downtown. While the decor is aging its dimly lit and intimate dining area are great for date nights. Its a stark contrast to its major competitor, No Coast (which I view as more of a complementing restaurant). The Itamae, Joel is a top notch chef who you can tell really is passionate about what he does. I recommend going to the bar and asking for him and then ordering a Omakasi, yo will not be disappointed. I also love the dynamite shrimp and just about anything on the specialty menu. Overall, I think Suehiro has a better menu and better sushi than No Coast, which more than makes up for the dated interior. 4/5 Stars.

We live in Grand Junction and visit Suehiros probably once a month or so. Usually, the service is lackluster, but we go for the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G food. This last time we went, it was all AMAZING! Our server was completely on top of his game, the food and drinks came quick, and he was quick to help and solve problems. From this visit, it seems like they have really turned the place around and hired a quality, well equiped staff. I dont think that before it was a lack of trying, it was that they were understaffed. Hopefully, the next time we go (which will now be sooner than before!) will be be just as satisfying all the way arond.

Not enough wait staff. They are working hard with too many tables to cover, which then equals poor service and your plates waiting. This has worsened over the past 12 months. Large groups do not work well because of the layout and size of business. No accomadations were attempted. (Group of 8). Fortunately we have other choices in the area that rival their sushi rolls and sashimi and have better accomodations with adequate wait staff. Sorry, wont be back.

My Superman roll was Soooo Good! However I sat there staring at it on the "to deliver" shelf for a good 7 minutes before it was delivered to my table and even then I waited nearly 40 minutes total from sitting down to actually eating. Since I am an hourly worker I had to gobble it down quickly to get back to work. If you are crunched for time, this is not the place, but the food sure is darn good if you can wait.

Worst customer service we have ever received! They forgot half our order so half of us had our meal while half of us didnt, when they FINALLY gave the rest of us what we ordered they made us hurry to eat, pay and leave because "They had to set up for dinner" it was 2 in the afternoon! As soon as we paid they literally told us "You have to leave now" no "sorry" or even nicely asking us. Will never eat here again!

Came in got seated to an already full restaurant with only one server running her tail off waited 15 minutes, still no acknowledgment from her although the busser did bring us water and soup. Both Windows were full of food to go out, we left as it is only a lunch hour! Food has always been great but unfortunately we didnt get to enjoy any. This restaurant is always busy but service isnt always the greatest.

Started out fun. Served water and gave orders. They brought us soup . 2 in our party of four got their orders. The rest of us nothing. Finally waiter realized the mistake. Went into kitchen and talked to staff. Another 30 minutes and several other orders still no food. Finally left 1 and half hours. No food and hungry. Isnt the first time. Wont be back. No discount or apology from staff.

Hands down my favorite sushi restaurant. I have traveled all over and havent found a place to top Suehiros. My favorite roll is the mango tango, sweet, spicy, salty all in one. One day I will venture past sushi here, but for the last 10 years since Ive discovered it, I havent been able to get enough, mostly of the specialty rolls!

While the food was okay - this was some of the worst customer service we have ever experienced. Waitress forgot to input two of our 6 entrées, we all received our food at different times spread out over an hour and a half. While we were there for 2 hours and 45 minutes we watched 3 groups of people come and go. Would not recommend.

Really like the sushi from here. If Im thinking raw fish, then Im thinking of Suehiro! Bit pricey in my opinion on some of the normal dishes, but no the sushi. I like that they have an area where you can take your shoes off and actually sit like you would in Japan (Im sure its not perfect, but its a nice touch).

Awesome Sushi - Rivals with sushi houses in the bigger cities. By far the most tender octopus I have had anywhere - been coast to coast on business, this is no empty comment. Definately sit at the sushi bar if your noob or near nob to Sushi. The chefs will guide you through a wonderful experience! A+++

Stopped in during a show across the street, hangry and stressed. The atmosphere was perfectly calm, not too bright, friendly attentive wait staff, and the food was perfect. Set up the rest of our night for awesome Rock n roll music madness. Thank you Suehiro!

The sushi is great. But the last few times my partner and I have gone we have had extremely long waits in between rolls and when waiting for our check. The service is extremely poor to the point that I would say that it is some of the worst I have gotten.

I usually dont care for restaurants that dont have booths, but I completely enjoyed my dining experince here. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The food tasted great and is worth its value. I walked away with a full belly and a smile on my face
