This restaurant was much better; food, service, cleanliness of restaurant, a couple of years ago. Since then, I suspect they either became corporate or installed corporate like aspects to every part of the restaurant, ruining it. The wait staff now has that annoying, blank eyed, robotic behavior and speech. They either pay an irritating, pointless amount of attention to you or no attention at all. It is usually not their fault, they are only following ridiculous orders from even more incompetent managers, whom give the same lack of service or come to your table way too much. The food and service has gone completely bad. For instance, every sushi roll is consisted of badly cooked and seasoned rice wrapped around a scant amount of mystery meat. Every roll is covered, more like drenched, in some dreadful, gloppy mayonnaise "sauce" and an obscene amount of garlic. The staff is so rude I am shocked that people are still dining there. No matter what happens, they never apologize for anything. This is a very stupid tactic to save themselves from any blame for their terrible service as there are much better places for Japanese food in the area. The rude treatment starts as soon as you walk up to the hostess stand and continues throughout your entire dining experience. If you insist upon eating here, definitely get and down a strong drink straight away, then maybe the food and service might just be bearable.

To the guy claimed himself as vegan, hey! F#$k y^&, seriously man, stop being a jerk, our family spend a good time today there, the bbq chicken skin was overcooked, we kindly asked the server to change it, it took a while for them to solve the issue, that server came and asked us it was just a tiny problem(yes it is), yet, when he asked what was happening, my friend said it was over cooked, the taste was way too bitter, he responded it was supposed to be like that, :), wonderful, and then told him dont be mad, and tried to take the order away, I said, could you put the other bbq stuff in to a to go box, he responded that you cannot take them if you want me to take this out of your check, what a jerk, who said I want to return this order, it took 30 minutes for you to bring me a new bbq chicken skin...... I was quite mad, the other server finally brought us the chicken skin with a to go box, I felt I have to find him and let him try what a real bbq chicken skin taste like, (it is not supposed to be like that man), he said, I dont eat chicken, I am a vegan, my mind was thinking then why on the earth you were just telling us the chicken skin was supposed to be like that, come on man........ ps this restaurant was a must go to one whenever I visit palm springs, I will probably still go there next time when I visit, but seriously man, tell the world you dont eat chicken...

While the redesign is pretty cool but the atmosphere was a little off - loud jazz music during lunch was so out of place. Combined with the bad attitude from what Im assuming would be the floor lead, Bonnie, made the experience uncomfortable. She snapped at the host when he spoke with my husband who was waiting for me to meet him at the table. He kindly brought waters to the table and commented that he hoped he wouldnt get in trouble since it wasnt his table. Our waitress was pleasant but was cut short a few time because Bonnie called her away. I ordered a bento box and requested the sashimi be exchanged for cali roll because I am 38 weeks pregnant. The waitress was understanding and didnt anticipate that being an issue; however Bonnie popped up at our table shortly after the order went in to say no substitutions on bento boxes....ok then I understand - she then snapped at our waitress that there cannot be any substitutions. Fortunately we heard the waitress explain to the sushi chef that I was pregnant and could not have the raw - they seemed fine with exchanging 6 pieces of sashimi with a 4 piece cali roll. The meal was fine - nothing exceptional - they did forget ginger and wasabi with the roll and order of nigiri but meh not the end of the world just a request had to be made. Overall an uncomfortable experience with a basic meal.

Visited for happy hour and had such a good meal I took my whole family the next day. Happy hour special deep fried black cod with wasabi aioli is fantastic. Perfectly cooked and seasoned fish; the aoili is basically unnecessary, but tasty too. Japanese style ceviche (in Japan it would be called carpaccio) was excellent but a little overpriced. Salmon collar was perfectly cooked and included a lot of extra meat beyond the collar. Veggie lovers ramen was flavorful with a broth so rich it was almost a stew. The only disappointment was the tonkotsu shoyu ramen. The broth was really well made but needed more salt or soy to bring out the flavor. Our waitress didnt seem to know much about Japanese food but made great honest recommendations based on her own experience with the food. Other than our waitress the front staff seemed inexperienced and not very responsive. Plates werent cleared away and it took a long time to get refills of water and the bill at the end. Its been difficult to find good ethnic food in Palm Springs so Gyoro Gyoro is a gem with an authentic menu and really high-quality food.

I was in town today i went to the restaurant and the waiter brought me 6 menus, one for drinks, one the main menu and 3 pieces of paper with different rolls menu. The last menu was a flyer that said (Bottomless drinks with order of food 1pm-3pm 50% discount. I told the waiter to bring me a Sapporo as it was listed in the bottomless drinks menu he said just a drink or the bottom less and I said bottomless of course. He brought it to me along with a lemonade alcohol drink also listed. I ordered to rolls and when the bill came it said $56. I looked at it and said wait bottomless drinks, i am being charged for both he said o yes, you said drink and i said no, you even confirmed bottomless. I asked about the 50% discount of the food and he said o you had to order from this menu out of the 5 he pointed to one of the paper menus. I got pissed and the jerk pretended like he did int get it. I then went to the bathroom and it was dirty and there was a cockroach by the sink.

I came over for celebration with my wife but we received very much uncomfortable. We order our drink but its not comes out so long so we ask them for where is drink(just coke and green tea) and they served. We ordered two different shushi with 2 order (1 order serve with two piece) and roll and chicken but we got shushi with only one order of each. So want order more because we still hungry. We called our server but he said he will be back after someone. We were waiting but he keep in busy he never back and we keep seeing him for watching him for eye contact with us. Finally, we got him and concern about previous order but he said he doesnt know so he sound like not his fault. we patience and order another two order of shushi but we waited almost 20min and canceled. I dont want recommend to any one I knew with this kind service and food.
