The unagi was fairly good and the ambiance and dining room areas were very inviting. We had high hopes after reading mostly great reviews on here and were craving sushi despite being slightly spoiled with many consistent sushi locations in our home town of Santa Cruz, CA. On a Saturday evening our group of 4 received fairly attentive service and good recommendations on food at the ~1/2 full restaurant. Excellent miso soup was served a few minutes after ordering and it was a mudslide downhill from there. A few of us had ordered spinach salads (these were bland, looked like they had sat out for half the day) that werent served until our main courses AT LEAST an hour after ordering. We didnt keep track but were enjoying conversation so we didnt really notice the expansive wait. Spider roll was cold and tasted only like scallions. Salmon was tough and dry(cooked). Many other rolls and entrees were eaten and not a single one was truly enjoyed. Again, service was warm and inviting as was ambiance. Food wasnt bad (like make you sick) but didnt excite any of us who have fairly average expectations. Theyll need to pull their act together to get much repeat business. It seems like theyre counting on the constant flow of tourists to buy into the great looking restaurant and helpful wait staff.

NOT CHEAP - NO SERVICE - SO WE WALKED OUT We went here twice in January 2015 and it was good, Sylvia was running the shift/s. Went again on Sunday June 28th and eventually we walked-out as we just waited too long to be served anything. The one and only Server was busy but also had a bit of an attitude when we eventually got his attention so that we could at least start with a drinks Order. He said he would be with us in a few minutes and 10 minutes later we were still waiting. All this time, the Manager / Owner was sitting at the Bar area playing on his laptop and a younger man helped clear tables from time to time. We got frustrated after waiting a long time waiting to be served, so we left. On the way out the Manager / Owner jumped-up and I told him he cant let customers wait so long and he replied with a couldnt care a less attitude. Any-way, we went to the Thai place down the road which was awesome.

Takashi is representative of Sedonas finest restaurants for many reasons. The foo, of course, is outstanding and carefully prepared. The atmosphere, however, is another integral aspect that makes dining here so sublime. I have been eating at Takashi since Eric and his wife first opened the restaurant, way, way back in the 90s. Not only is the Japanese food authentic and high-quality, the atmosphere is as close to being in Japan as you can get in America. The restaurant interior, the building design, and the inner courtyard are superb and I would expect no less from the Takashi proprietors who also own the small plaza that the restaurant resides within. Make sure to get reservations during Sedonas prime vacation months in the Spring and Fall because Takashi has an excellent reputation and fills up quickly on most nights.

Wow, worst sushi, probably worst restaurant experience ever. We are sushi lovers and heavily patronize good sushi bars. We showed up in the evening here about 9ish and there was maybe 6 to 8 tables filled. We just wanted a quick bite of sushi. We order, get this, one order of sashimi salmon(5 pieces) no rice comes with it and one order of octopus sashimi(two pieces). We waited for 30 minutes and just got up and left we were so appalled, not even a refresher on if the fisherman came back from catching the Salmon yet! How can 7 pieces of sashimi (JUST SLIVERS OF FISH, NOT EVEN ROLLS!!) take over 30 minutes!?! Thumbs down, really down, unless you plan to wait forever to eat and pay premium prices, avoid this place.

Looked for a place to get sushi and oh boy did I find one. The outside looks a bit beat up, but dont let looks deceive you! The inside was very decorative and it really catches the eye. Our waitress was extremely nice and suggested the best food. I ordered California rolls and had green tea ice cream and oh my gosh was it good. Overall great experience and would recommend for anyone looking to eat Japanese in the beautiful town of Sedona! :)

Nice quiet sushi spot with fresh ingredients. The salmon sashimi was very good. Unlike many sushi spots, the sashimi slices were accurately sized and not too small. Also, they were kind enough to give us free matcha ice cream at the end of our meal because we were the last guests in house. This is a very friendly spot.

This is a great Japanese restaurant. The service was outstanding and I cant say enough about the food. I have been here on more than one occasion and have never had a bad meal or experience. If youre in the Sedona are I would strongly recommend that you stop and eat here at least once, you wont be disappointed.

Great food and wonderful service. We had the yellowtail sashimi dinner and salmon sashimi dinner. Seafood quality was very good and included miso soup, salad and tempura vegetables. Ordered a spider roll as well. That was ok. Not as good as the other sushi. Overall would recommend!

My favorite Japanese restaurant. Love the spicy tuna rolls, the teppan yaki, miso and so many other items on the menu. The owners, Eric and Sylvia are so lovely they make it very comfortable and homey.

Ok decor but a very creepy male waiter took our order. Sticky tables plus moldy carpet. Dont drink the tap water it tasted & smelled like it was out of a fish tank. We wont be going back BEWARE

Excellent service Great atmosphere window seat a plus. Very good size portions of great tasting fish. Do not expect 20+ specialty rolls. The cooked food is excellent as well.

Great service. Friendly staff. Mostly authentic. A little overpriced but given location not wildly out of line. Food was fresh and hot. Portion sizes were good.

Good food, but pretty pricey for the amount, if you want great tastes good here, but if you want a huge meal maybe look at other options.
