Rachael, the owner of Intricate Icings, seemed easy to work with during our first meeting but after working with her for almost two months now, I have learned she is highly unprofessional and impatient in answering any questions. She is very young and her inexperience is apparent. I am planning my wedding from across the country and I rely on phone calls and e-mails to communicate with all of my vendors. All six of my other vendors have been extremely helpful and have welcomed any questions I have. After I had to change the location of my wedding I called Rachael to let her know. I spoke to her two more times after this to update her on my situation and during our third, and last, conversation she told me that I had taken up a lot of her time and that she should be charging me to communicate with her any further. I was shocked. Three phone calls in two months should not feel so burdensome to her. She is extremely impatient and handled herself in a highly unprofessional manner. Four months from my wedding date, I have now decided to order my cake from another bakery in Colorado and have forfeited my $100 deposit at Intricate Icings in order to avoid having to work with Rachael any longer. There are several reputable bakeries in Colorado that will treat you with more respect than her. Save yourself the hassle and stress and avoid working with Rachael at all costs! Unfortunately, she handles all appointments and contracts with customers so there is no opportunity to work with anyone else.

Intricate icings just made a cake for our vow renewal this past Saturday, and I have to say they lived up to, even exceeded, our high expectations. My husband and I watch a TON of food network, so we really felt like we might be too picky for our own good when it came to choose a wedding cake designer. Now we feel so fortunate to have found Rachael at Intricate Icings. Not only was she the friendliest vendor that we met throughout the wedding planning process, but we were blown away by the cake she showed up with on the day of our event. I did notice that she chose to use butter cream to make the pattern on our cake rather than the fondant we had asked for, but it turned out so stunning that I cant complain at all. Im sure she had a reason for making the switch; Rachael knows exactly what shes doing when it comes to wedding cakes. We just couldnt have been more happy with our experience; both the customer service and the final product were incredible. I wont be getting photos of the event back until the end of November, but when I do I will be sure to add a photo of our STUNNING cake to this review. I will be recommending Intricate Icings to everybody I know, and I would jump at the chance to work with them again for future special occasions!

We got our daughters first birthday cake here, and we could not be more pleased! I wanted a grown-up cake and a "smash" cake, and specifically asked for the smash cake to be shaped like a lady bug to go with the party theme. Other bakers told me they could only do it with fondant, which wouldnt make for a good smash cake, as its too hard for little fingers to get through. Not only did Intricate Icings do it with buttercream frosting, it was also GORGEOUS and perfect! The grown up cake was equally beautiful, with wildflowers and sugar lady bugs all over it. And finally, the taste was to die for, and it has lasted a week and is still moist and delicious. (We got chocolate with ganache.) We will absolutely be using Intricate Icings again, and I could not recommend them enough.

Rachael /Intricate Icings was our FAVORITE wedding vendor, hands-down. Prior to our meeting, I had made a special request for a flavor she did not have on her "menu". Although we found HER flavor creations much better than my idea and went with those, she executed my request well and without too much advanced. We went in to our first meeting knowing we didnt want a traditional cake, but without any real concrete ideas. She talked through concepts with us, ending with a beautiful creation that felt like a great representation of our personalities AND her creative genius. Our family and friends STILL comment on our cake- design AND deliciousness- almost 3 years later.

I would highly recommend Intricate Icings. They provided a beautiful, 4-tier cake for our wedding last summer. Our guests raved about both the look and the flavor. When we originally met with Rachael, the owner, for our initial consultation, we had no idea what we wanted. She took the time to get a feel for our general likes and dislikes and helped us come up with an original cake design that we both loved. While they are not the cheapest bakery around, you certainly get what you pay for...and they are worth every penny. I dont plan on ever getting married again, but if I did I would certainly go back.

Intricate Icings is my favorite in the buiz. I am a professional photographer and I have had WAY more than my fair share of cake at weddings. Rachaels designs are not only detailed and beautiful, but they also hold up really well all through the night. (Ive seen other cakes fail and begin to fall apart half way through the reception.) Not only that, but they are some of the tastiest I have ever had. Its one thing to be pretty and a whole other to be SO yummy!! I recommend Rachael to all of my clients as I know shes a trusted professional and one of the best in the industry.

WOW! I was blown away.. our 3 year old son loves dinosaurs so for his third birthday we wanted a dinosaur cake. When I went to pick up the cake I wasnt expecting such a realistic character. Everything was perfect down to the last millimeter of the cake. When we reveled the cake at the party someone even wanted to buy it off of us to use at their sons birthday party ;). I met with Rachael months before my daughters 1st birthday to have her design a very special birthday cake for us. I couldnt of asked for anything better. All of our family and friends were amazed at how wonderful the cake was. The cake was delicious and beautiful. I gave her a basic idea of what I was looking for and let her be creative with it. It was perfect! We will be making this a family tradition from now on.

We ordered a cake from Intricate Icings for our daughters first birthday. It was exactly what we were picturing in our heads. Rachael is creative, and her cakes are absolutely beautiful.
