I read the reviews about this place and for the most part they were very good, but it turned out to be a massive disappointment. For starters, their websites pricing is apparently different now, as I was overcharged by roughly $8-$10 for some of the most unsatisfactory sushi I have ever had. For $25 I received a pitiful Virginia roll (that tasted ok at best, but honestly a little off, so I hope I dont get sick from it and it fell apart immediately) and the yakitori chicken, which (apparently that price jumped from the previously advertised $3.99 to $9+ and the dish had not changed at all according to the site description) was very small and "ok". I called after fighting through half of the "meal" to ask about the overcharge and the gentleman on the phone informed me that I was charged correctly according to their new menu, which was apparently not changed on the website, ie. falsely advertised. Bottom line, the difference should have been comp’d and there should have been some sort of apology for that mistake. Overall, my experience here was rather poor. I will not be visiting them again and I will not be recommending this establishment to anyone.

Im a returning customer, but had a frustrating experience on my last visit. The Caterpillar roll at Yoo Mae is stuffed with unagi rather than crab. Ive had the Cat roll in many different states and crab has been the consistent filling. However, Yoo Mae lists the Caterpillar roll without any mention that they messed with the typical ingredients. I strongly dislike unagi so I asked the waiter if I could trade the eel for crab. He called the chef a "stickler" and he was right. I ended up picking the eel out and feeling nauseous throughout dinner. I acknowledge I did not ask what was in the roll, but why would I? Unagi in a Caterpillar roll is like lobster with ketchup instead of butter. If Yoo Mae wants to be different ... great. That doesnt mean customers should have to play guessing games on a classic roll.

The food is alright, but the online menu is misleading. I ordered two Yakisoba Noodle lunches to go. The person on the phone asked if I would like miso, and since the menu said it was included, I said yes. When I got there, the meals were both more expensive than advertised, and I was charged for the soups. So basically, where I was expecting to spend $17 for lunch I ended up spending $24. Not life changing, but very annoying. When I confronted them, they said that the prices on the website were wrong and they werent doing anything about it. On top of that they said there was no take out menu so if you work downtown and want to have lunch there, be ready for sticker shock!

An absolute hidden GEM. Discovered this place 2 years ago while drunk in downtown on St. Pattys (Jack Quinns was too packed to get food!) Of all the Sushi places around the springs, it is my firm belief this is the best. Dont bother with any other place around the Springs if you want amazing sushi, this is the place! By contrast, AI sushi has been clipped by health inspectors a couple times, Sushi Rakkyo is bland and overprice, and Fujiyama is probably the only sushi place Ive ever been served poorly tempd food at/been given a food borne illness from.

I have tried many of the sushi bars and Japanese restaraunts in the Colorado Springs area and Yoo Mae has the best sushi by far! Now, Ill admit that the atmosphere is a bit lacking and sparse, but I came for the food! The "State Rolls" are delicious, the sashimi is thick and fresh and I did not have one complaint about the food, the service or anything else for that matter. This is now my favorite sushi spot and people will be hard-pressed to find anything better.

SO I have frequented this establishment for 13 years and I have to say I may not be able to go ever again. Last night I popped in to impress a colleague and we decided to have a working dinner and there were only TWO people in the whole place and Ryan said we could only sit at a two top table. WTF? Because, and I quote him: "Sorry we could get busy" On a Monday night???We went to Nara instead, spent over $100 and they let us work at a 4 top. Customers for life!!!!

Sorry, but were surprised this is still in business. The chicken teriyaki seemed to have sauce from a bottle poured over it. The shrimp steamed dumplings appeared identical to what we bought as frozen food from Asian super markets. The sushi may have been alright (well know better by tomorrow...). On timeliness: we waited over 30 minutes for any solid food to arrive (as we waited, the only waiter enjoyed his dinner behind the counter). We do not recommend.

Service was poor... waiter acted irritated that we were there. I will not be coming back ever. Food was mediocre. We arrived late in the Springs after a long day of traveling and found this place on yelp. It said it was open until 10pm on yelp but when we got there at 8:30pm the waiter was rushing us during our meal. I see now that the yelp listing was incorrect and Google has the closing time at 9... maybe someone will change that.

Yoo Mae is no doubt the best sushi in Colorado Springs. Best prices and sushi in town. I love sushi and have searched all of the springs for great sushi and Yoo Mae is it. The owner is the son of a major sushi maker in Asia, and it shows. From the freshest possible fish, (even though the service can be a little slow), it is COMPLETELY worth it.

All the rolls are to die for! My goal is to try each of the 50 state rolls, I have been through many. Every roll exceeded my expectiation, and continues to be better than any other sushi experience i have had. The place is smaller, but dont let the size decieve you. The food is incredible, i highly recommend to everyone that loves great sushi.

Japanese thats a little different than Ive had in the past, some different use of flavors, a little more tang than Im used to, like in the salad dressing and tempura sauce. Sushi was good though, so was the chicken bento lunch box. Service was good

My husband and I wanted to tey something new- Service was slow. The rolls did not have rice and the flavor was mediocre. I had a hair in one of them. The server took it off the tab, but offered me the other pieces- so thoughtful, but no thank you.

Coming from Las Vegas its sad that this is all Col Springs has. Here with 6ppl, waiting 70min for rolls and they havent been made yet! Owner is the only sushi chef . And not even a TV for football! Every sushi place in Vegas has MANY TVs!
