We have been to this location before and had a very pleasant experience. This evening, we had an out-of-town guest and were celebrating a birthday and the experience was horrible. First off, we asked for a reservation for 6 people at 6 - when we arrived, we were told we had to wait and that they had us down for 10. No biggie, just headed to the bar. We ordered some happy hour drinks and food at the bar and indicated we would pay there but that we wanted to enjoy the apps at the table. We were moved to the table but after 20 minutes, no apps. We mentioned this to the server and he says they are waiting for us and did we want them - um, yes. He brings them 10 minutes later. We received no refills of drinks over the entire service of one hour and fifteen minutes. We didnt have soy sauce so grabbed it from another table but the lid was not on correctly so we ended up spilling a bit - no biggie - we cleaned it up ourselves but the server never came to clear empties or take away the napkins. The hibachi guy could not see to cook because the lights in the dining room were off so he did his best - less entertaining but at least the food was good. Anything coming from the kitchen arrived late (for example, salad and soup arrived after most of dinner had been cooked and rice appeared after we had eaten most of dinner). All somewhat forgivable until it takes 36 minutes to get the bill (after requesting it three times) and then it contains food we never received (we also requested three times). We immediately request the manager, who takes another 10 minutes to come out and then only removes items that were not delivered and brings out a scoop of ice cream for the birthday they have yet to acknowledge in any positive way (even just a "Happy Birthday" would have been fine). So $200 for a meal where we did not get some of the food, some arrived late, no refills, no apology whatsoever from the server or management, and no attempt to remedy. Not only that, but they held the other three people at our table hostage for their bill as well and would not deliver a to go box and botched their order (guy with two little kids who ordered two adult meals and waited the same amount of time to receive his bill and did not have it paid still when we left). We have been servers for many years at many establishments (private and corporate) and NEVER seen anything like this. We will not be going back and urge you to take your business elsewhere.

Terrible Customer Service Using THEIR online reservation system, I made reservations for New Years Eve a week in advance. When I called a couple days ahead to confirm, they didnt have my reservation...they called back to say something went wrong - but wouldnt accommodate my reservation for four - even though they admitted it was THEIR MISTAKE. New Years Day (umm, a little late now) they called me to apologize and offered me a $20 credit for my next visit. I asked them to please send me a gift card or certificate for that amount, but they said the couldnt because they couldnt reconcile their cash with the card, but promised all I had to do was call and ask for the manager, give them my name which was on file and it would be fine.... Well, low and behold, I called and heres a surprise, the manager who gave me the credit isnt there now and the new manager "isnt authorized" to give me the credit. If the manager isnt authorized, who is? Her offer - come in, pay full, price, and then theyll give me a $20 credit. Really? Sorry, I will never step foot in this place again. You cant do that to customers and expect everything to be ok. There are so many places that have food that is just as good with better customer service better. Fujiyama has lost a client - not that they care.

The food is good and the sushi and lunch specials are good too. I used to work close to the restaurant and me and my co workers had lunch there all the time. I am not sure what happen to this restaurant that once was in my top 10. Not sure if the restaurant is better with the lunch crowd and not the dinner. I am sad to report that the last time we came for a visit it was for dinner. Our waiter was rude and did not pay attention to the orders. We took hibachi table with another family. Me and another person requested water with lemon and when we received the drink orders the waiter did not have the lemon. We asked a second time and did not receive it at all. After we asked a 3rd time our hibachi chef gave us half a lemon that we end it up passing around the table between us to flavor our water. Sometimes bad service can ruin an entire evening. In the end of the dinner the other family on the table chased down the hibachi cook to give him a tip and told us not to leave any $ for our waiter. :-(

One of the best sushi places in south Denver. We typically come here once or twice a week. Most of the staff knows us and is always top notch and our favorite server is Ocean. She is probably the best server weve ever had in any restaurant. I highly recommend ordering the Mountain Roll, its AMAZING! I dont think its on their sushi menu but if it was, it should be called the Jay Roll! They hibachi side is fun and always entertaining. There is nice separation from the two sides. There is a laid back and quiet atmosphere in the dinning area. Wife goes there to do working lunches a lot. Maybe not the cheapest sushi in town but the service and quality are worth it. They also have a point system for frequent eaters. Every $200 spent you get $10 reward that you can save up or spend. Oh, did I mention the Mountain Roll?! Only recommendation is to change out the glasses, dish detergent, or dishwasher machine. Lately the glasses have been foggy or maybe even a little dirty.

I go to Fujiyama for lunch somewhat regularly, it is a decent value and good food so I took the family to try the dinner service. That was a mistake. After tring the dinner service tonight, it was (at best): cafeteria food. The tempura was not well prepared, the tonkatsu was bland and the udon noodle dish my kids has was underdone, underportioned (6 small shirmp on a 13 dollar plate). The staff was indifferent, when we talked to the manager she said that was how the chef prepared the udon, so that adds another problem: lousy management. On the plus side I do not think I got food poisoning, so dinner at Fujiyama has that going for it. There are plenty of better Japanese choices in Denver. Best pass on Fujiyama, particularly the dinner service.

Let me start by saying that I do not eat seafood. My girlfriend was craving sushi and we picked this restaurant. That being said, it was one of the best dining experiences weve had in a while! The atmosphere is upscale and quiet. The staff was very courteous and attentive, without being intrusive. But the food was the real star. I found just enough (non-fishy) food to eat while my girlfriend gorged on sushi. Theres also the option to sit at a normal dining table or the crazy flaming table of cooking wizardry! If you choose the safe (lame) dining table, you can still order from the flaming adventure tables menu.
