Having sampled a fair selection of food from here, I would say this might be the literal middle ground when it comes to Chinese food in Boulder. Half of the dishes are good, and half of them are not that great. Doesnt seem to be a big correlation to the time of day either, but we typically have ordered for lunch and delivery. To start, the appetizers and soups are very hit or miss and dont have a huge level of consistency. The wonton soup which tends to be my works goto favorite is either very strong in the flavor of black pepper, or like straight chicken broth kind of flavor. The wontons themselves are actually pretty good however being nice and big, but the broth needs some work. The Crab cheese wontons/rangoon is actually really good and you get a little cup of sweet n sour with your meals which is also a big plus for me. We have mostly narrowed down the really good dishes to the Generals Chicken and Szechuan Chicken, with Orange Chicken coming in to a close second. One of my personal favorites which is the Cashew Chicken, and the Mongolian Beef are actually fairly unappetizing and bland. On another note leading to the hit or miss with this food is that the meat will either be very tender or like chewing on rubber. Its not overcooked its just the quality of the meat and how old it is makes it very fibrous and hard. Delivery we have never had any issues with them getting our orders right, or delivering things on time that has always been good. Also a pretty big fan of their rice which isnt ever overcooked and mushy. Its got a nice firmness to it like youd find in sushi rice, and doesnt have that city water taste that sometimes likes to linger on some rice from other places. Overall this is a pretty middle ground place for Chinese, and there are certainly several more options available but if you dont want old lingering food from Panda Express, this is on the same level but made fresh for you.

Just ordered jin chan for the first and last time. Wish you could give 0 stars! My food arrived and looked like rubber, through no fault of the driver or delay you could just tell it was rubber from the start and jiggled like gelatin (my pan fried tofu... not fried) Next my side of vegetables... which came served in a sauce that looked like mucus and probably moved less... disgusting. I couldnt eat either after looking at them I actually vomited in my mouth. Those went straight in the trash leaving me with two egg rolls for dinner. The egg rolls also had what appeared to be something reminiscent of mucus inside. Also disgusting and discarded. My boyfriend got the general tao chicken. And is still throwing up in our bathroom.... all in all probably my worst restaurant experience ever

Visiting Boulder and trying to find good Chinese food. We found Jin Chang Zhang. Reminiscent of many of the small restaurants that line the streets of San Francisco Chinatown. Has a certain authenticity that is comforting. The entrees were generous and full of flavor. The restaurant is small but quaint. If you are looking for comfort food with that home cooked feel this is the place. My wife thinks the Mongolian beef is one of the best yet, so much so that she has requested that we go back to get it again for the trip home. The flavors and quality rival anything we get back in the San Francisco Bay area. Looking for Chinese comfort food this is the place to go, to relax and feel at home.

The soup was fine but the 50cent cost that was passed on to me was not since there werent any signs indicating that there was a minumum credit card amount. In addition, I was told that the tax on my $1.50 soup was .45 which after Ieft made no sense at all. When I arrived at home, I called Jin Chen and was finally told about the additional fee. They werent really willing to do anything. I was told to return the soups and they would refund the money. I wasnt allowed to speak to the manager or the managers wife and was told that they would call the police if I came back to explain what happened to me to other patrons. Yeah, Ill never go back!!! Customer service at its finest!!

First Impression: dining area is VERY dirty and a strong smell of old oil. The food was simply not good - I was honestly concerned and felt uncomfortable eating it. Eventually I addressed the staff that I was not super happy with it. I wasnt asking or expecting for it for free.. But I did think they would at least validate my concern and be polite... I was met with rudeness and hostility. It was very uncomfortable - I felt like I was being verbally abused by the young man working there. Ive never experienced anything that rude and unpleasant at a restaurant.

Ordered a pickup dinner for 1. Food was fast and reasonably priced. The egg roll that came with meal was complete garbage. It was the size of a pinky finger. It was all fried dough, barely any filing. Moving on to the fried rice; it was ok, but was slightly mushy and I could taste the excessive amount of butter used. The main course was nothing to brag about either. General Tsos chicken was watery, turning the breading to mush. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant unless youre completely hammered and looking for some slop to throw in your belly.

I would give the food a 5 star rating, when its fresh. We used to order from here once week and lately the delivery service has been getting worse and worse. When we first started ordering for delivery, it took them about 20 minutes to get here. Then forty minutes, then an hour, and tonight we waited over two hours to get our food, and when it arrived it was cold. When you order for delivery, you shouldnt have to microwave your food once it gets here. If you want great Chinese food, go to the restaurant and do not order it for delivery.

Amazing service - maybe due to new manager - but food was steaming and delicious, which made my lunch so pleasant. After I arrived the restaurant was half empty but soon it was packed. The space is kind of crammed yet enough tables to serve couples or people who work around. Attached are photos of my favorite dish: Hot & Sour w Steam Rice and Chicken Broccoli. My food was ready within 15 minutes. Will definitely keep coming back as a loyal customer and refer over anyone who is looking for a delicious Chinese cuisine! Thank you Lili!

The bean sprouts for the Pho looked old and brown and the restaurant was not clean. When we made a complaint the workers were defensive about it and refused to take our complaint seriously. When we didnt want to pay for the Pho a worker argued with us and insulted us. When they finally agreed to accommodate us they did so grudgingly. Ive never been treated so poorly at a restaurant before. It was extremely unprofessional and it was a terrible experience for all of us.

Delivery took 50 minutes. The General Tsos chicken I ordered came room temperature, with a meager portion at best. It was enough to be almost a dinner. The chicken and rice were overcooked. However, the veggies were quite nice, but not good enough to save the meal. Other restaurants in the area have similar prices for larger portions, higher quality food, and faster delivery time. Perhaps it was averaging 3.5 stars a few years ago, but today it is lack luster.
