THE BEST! Love this place! Have been going there for over a year now since we first discovered it when a co-worker stopped in to grab the office breakfast burritos! Real AUTHENTIC Mexican food. La Cueva is just a block away... dont waste your time over there - go straight to La Morena! The other place is American Mexican food that is crazy overpriced, not to mention over-hyped and over-rated! Morena is reasonably priced, and HUGE servings! Try the Taco Salad, which is fresh and very tasty. Camarones a la Diabla is also one of my favorites, but watch out - it actually IS spicy! Not like all these places that say things have spice and you get nothing. No matter what we always order Chiles Torreados with our meals (Roasted jalapenos that bring out the best in every plate with a sweet and spicy flavor) take small bites though if you arent used to it! They have the most wonderful new server there that is the epitome of customer service, so genuine and wonderful! Will definitely ask her name next time we go, and will update here. It is also fun on Friday nights because they have Karaoke with a live DJ and lots of specials on drinks. The Karaoke is in both English and Spanish so no worries to the non-Spanish speakers. Its right on the corner of Dayton and Colfax, with a whole parking lot behind the building just for their customers. I appreciate not having to fight for one of the limited spaces on Colfax. We went last night and ordered their new 2 for $20 dinner special. I had Chicken Fajitas and my friend had Chiles Rellenos. Mmmmm. SO GOOD! With drinks, desert, and even jukebox selections, it was about $30. Of course we tipped the new waitress very well, she was so attentive and personable. Glad they got an experienced person in there now, because that would have been my only critique.

There were around two pages of different ceviches on the menu. The table salsa was exactly the opposite of the spaghetti sauce you get at whatever place youre picturing downtown. This stuff was fresh, filled with fresh onions, cilantro, jalapeños. And its HOT AS F. The tomatoes may have been cooked, but I didnt notice. My ceviche is so good, I cant stop eating, even though Im so full it hurts to move/breathe/think. The esposas mole was on par with the best weve ever had. Ahora vengo, La Morena. Real soon.

Great place! The portions are HUGE for what you are paying. The karaoke is fun and everyone is a good sport. Their margaritas a very good as well, I went on a Friday night and it just so happen it was buy one get one free for the margaritas! The only thing is there was a gentleman there who was clearly way too drunk and the staff tried their best to control him but they never cut him off or asked him go leave as far as in aware.

Good food -- really good food. The waitress is new and therefore a bit rusty, but everything was more than satisfactory. Well, except the music. The selection ranged from Elvis to Air Supply to Mexican band of unknown origin with way too much volume. Update: went there again for my birthday. The food was still above par, the wait staff as still great and the atmosphere was still welcoming.

EXPENSIVE!!, trust me; take your money and go to a place where you can have decent meal, affordable drinks and waaay cleaner environment. I was here because i was invited, but the food was ok, but average 15.00 dollars for a plate?! 10.00 dollar mixed drinks?! On Colfax and Dayton.....not sure....oh and beware of asking for more chips and salsa...you will get charged!!!.....Ridiculous...

It was very loud in here, not a place for catching up with a friend. I will say they had a very extensive menu, and if I had been there to sing riotous Spanish karaoke I would have been in the right place. The waitress also didnt speak English very well, and with the loud surroundings it made our interactions more challenging. We made it through though and she was very nice.

I will not recommend this restaurant for food. Possibly a great place for drinks. I am very picky about food and I ordered a chilli relleno extra crispy. Needless to say I did not even eat the chilli relleno. I chose the beans and rice it came with and that was not even that good. But I am sure that this will be a great place to go for drinks and karaoke.

There are an abundance of Mexican restaurants in this area.. I choose La Morena for their great service, yummy food and good vibes! Waitress are always sweet and attentive. Food is served in generous proportions and always delicious. Alcohol was rather pricey but good! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

I went on a Thursday and we were the only customers eating and so I was a little apprehensive when I walked in. However, the food was great & a good price! It was happy hour when I visited so the drinks were buy one get one. Waitresses were very attentive but there was a little bit of a language barrier.

The food here was amazing (seriously authentic!). Cant give 5 stars because the music was loud enough that we couldnt hear one another even yelling and we requested twice that it be turned down enough that we could talk, but they wouldnt do it. Would come back when they arent doing karaoke!

While the food tastes good...oh my, for $14 and change.... I got a large chili bowl and a tiny bean burrito, like one would give a two year old child. And the girl at the counter was not even friendly tho I gave her a $2 tip for a o go order. Blast and be damned ~!

This food was authentic Mexican food. The service was pretty good. I had a misunderstanding about the food and they fixed it. The portion to price ratio was awesome. I had to take food home. The margaritas was excellent. I want to go there again.

Asked for napkins and a water...never got it. Just felt annoyed and unrelaxed. They need to provide better service and their prices are to high! We paid for our 8 dollar each margaritas and left.

Moved from texas, best mexican food i have had in colorado hands down. Prices are reasonable, and its always a good sign when your waitress doesnt speak english. PLUS, they have karaoke.
