We started off with some basics - queso and sweet potato tots. Let me tell you, that queso was SOLID. Solidly delicious! And, in my opinion, tastes better with the Tots that with the chips (but Im bias when it comes to sweet potatoes). Then here comes the magical part of the menu - you can BUILD YOUR OWN MAC N CHEESE OR POUTINE?!? Isnt that everything youve ever wanted? I know thats everything IVE ever wanted. We started with a Mac N Cheese creation. My friend Ms. A has visited quite a few times and had some experience building her own - she happened to mention having added peanut butter. What? Thats crazy! And as far as Im concerned, the crazier the better. So we looked over the super long list of toppings and began the long process of creating the perfect experience. We ended up with extra cream cheese, bacon, dates and peanut butter! If I ever did this again, I would get an even stronger Cheese - maybe goat cheese - to balance out the sweetness of the Peanut Butter and the dates. Because this Mac n Cheese actually ended up tasting like dessert - haha! And pretty delicious! My only complaint - the bacon pieces were too small and there werent enough. I think that on a return visit I would go with more a classic Mac n Cheese. But this was super fun and unique and quite yummy. Next, the poutine - extra Gouda, pulled pork and BBQ Sauce. They didnt give us quite as much BBQ sauce as I wanted, but the waitress happily brought more out. Our server was absolutely awesome and friendly. Hubby and I both agree that if we lived here this would be a regular spot for us!

I give the SchoolHouse 5 stars for ambiance, but 1 star for the food. The wait staff is also so so. I have been there four times and the food diminished from the experience. We ordered the chile con queso with chips and it was good so we ordered a second order. The second order was totally different as it had the consistency of tomato soup. We complained to the waitress and she said they had changed batches and this batch was not thick - but did little to fix the issue. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it tasted like they had bought it in a tub from a big box store. I want this place to succeed but if they dont fix the kitchen and the menu they will quickly flame. I would replace whomever is in charge of the kitchen and get someone in who understands how to run a kitchen and get consistency. Also better training for the staff. The hostess should not break off your conversation to answer the phone plus get a little more experienced people in that position. This place is new and has a lot of promise but needs to fix a few things.

My husband and I went and it was cute as for the place goes. The wait would have been 45 minutes, but the bar was open. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich without slaw, my husband ordered a burger with cheese, pickles, bbq sauce, shrimp, and maple mustard. He ordered it without tomato, lettuce or onions. I also ordered poutine. I assumed with the name poutine, that it would have cheese curds. Since that is what poutine is, all it had was some thick chicken gravy. Also my pulled pork came with the slaw and husbands burger came not only not only pink inside, but also with the tomatoes and lettuce. We received a bill for 32 dollars. I could see charging for cheese and shrimp of course, but they charge dollar for pickles and a dollar for bbq sauce, and any other restaurants standard condiments. A dollar extra for pickles, a dollar for bbq sauce, a dollar for mustard, two dollars for shrimp. I wont be back.

Slow service, food mediocre, prices were reasonable. Wouldnt go here unless you intend to spend a lot of time here Got there at about 743pm, got my drink in about ten minutes, after I think my server forgot about me as he didnt return to take my order for about twenty minutes even though I had a food menu and was going through it. I think another server saw me thumbing through the menu and called him over. Took about twenty minutes to get my burger, by the time I was done eating and paid, it was about 905pm. I looked around there and saw only about 6-9 tables there amongst 3 servers. I saw servers for other tables more than mine. He checked in on me twice, once to ask if I wanted food and again when I wanted the check. All in all, couldve gone just about anywhere else in older town and had a better time.

My school teacher friend had heard about the one room school house with addition that was now called The School House and served libations. Needless to say, we had to make a stop while were in Arvada. Super cute set up and very casual atmosphere. Friendly staff and lots to choose from. While we didnt eat, we did notice the lady behind us eating an unnaturally looking orange mac and cheese that couldnt have been horrible, because she took the rest of it to go. Scared us to say the least, but we had just eaten so we were only here to check the place out and have a pint. Definitely will go back. Love the way theyve decorated the place. Its all about the details here. Wine comes in a beaker, then poured into your glass table side. Several drinks came in beakers and the glasses were fun.

Weve tried it two times. The positive is the atmosphere is cool...good job with the decor. The first time, our bartender was extremely busy and extremely rude. At least our server was polite the second time. Both times, the staff seems overwhelmed. It wasnt busy when we went for lunch, but we had to wait over 20 minutes for empty tables to be cleared off. Staff walked by the tables, but never attempted to clean them off while people waited. The food was nothing special at all. The queso tasted like Velveeta. The final straw was your poor taste in jokes or whatever you call it. "Short Bus Mac & Cheese"...rude, disrespectful. Will not give my business to people who think its acceptable to use the special needs community as a joke for a theme on their menu.

I cant tell you how disappointed the 5 of us were on Halloween weekend! Service really lacked...as we were trying to connect with "John Snow" and his costume, he walked away. He couldnt hear us say our orders and he didnt try to come around to each of us either. He only delivered 1 drink to the table, and there were 5 of us. That one drink probably took 15 minutes to get delivered. NO JOKE! Food was mediorce at best. A baked potato came out cold...then sent back and it was cold again,. Dont get me started on the music that was playing. It was old unpopular POP music from my sons high school days--early 2000s. Next time we will wait it out at Arvada Tavern, cuz we know they care about their customers.

Ive always had good experiences at School House. Food is always good, and the drinks are great. Amazing selection of whiskey, and theyve been very accommodating to cocktail requests off the menu. During my last visit however, the staff truly went above and beyond. I had a cardiac episode of some sort (still figuring it out) and the staff did absolutely everything they could help. They called 911, moved tables so the paramedics could get to me more easily, and helped my girlfriend while I was passed out on the floor. I understand this is not normal restaurant review material, but the staff handled the situation brilliantly, and theyre most definitely deserving of praise.
