Ive had this place bookmarked for a little while and finally decided to give it a try tonight. We got greeted and the girl working the front gave us some recommendations on what to order. The owner happened to be there as well and was very cool and hilarious as well! We went with their chicken and waffles combo with dark meat and fried red snapper. We also added a side of hush puppies just to top it off with more heart attack inducing goodness. After waiting about 20 minutes or so, the food was finally done. I thought wed be having some dank fried chicken after waiting for so long. But we were disappointed after taking a few bites into the chicken and the red snapper. It was cold and seemed to have been sitting around for a while. Not only that but the batter seemed to be a bit over fried and had this lingering bitter after taste. And this was for every item. The freshest thing was the waffle but to be honest it was no better than something I can toast up out of the freezer. This place definitely has a lot of potential to be much better. And if everything was made much fresher and prepped properly Id be back here again to get my heart attack grub on. Maybe we came on an off day....but I dont think Id come back here again with this type quality, considering the meal was just under $30 as well.

Took an extremely long time to get my food, I ordered the #12 which is the 8pc with Mac n cheese n mashed potatoes n gravy, n fish. The cashier taking my order was confused n has she was taking my order the cook n the back started to take the orders of the people behind me. This caused my food to come out approximately 20 minutes after I had ordered. Literally they were n the middle of a lunch rush n I was the last person in the restaurant eating when I was second in line. But I thought it was really nice that the cook was taking orders to help out. Ok lets talk food! The batter on the fish n chicken was so good. literally some of the best fish n chicken Ive ever eaten. However the sides need work. The Mac n cheese was boxed Mac n cheese. Being that its Louisiana theme you would of thought it would of had a burbon swirl are maybe just maybe it would of had I dont know cheese. It tasted like plastic and was watered down if you would of put a blindfold on me n feed it to me I would of guessed I was eating over plain pasta. The mashed potatoes were also watered down but the potatoes themselves were good. Overall I would go back but ONLY for the fish n chicken.

Since I walked in it honestly wasnt the most welcoming place, there was no greeting. As I decided what to order I asked a worker for a suggestion, not to mention she had her back to me. When she did answer it was in a very short and rude way. While I was waiting for my food I asked that same worker what time they closed, simply to know if I could eat in or take it to go, and she completly ignored me. I asked about two other times until she finally turned and answerd my question, once again very rude. By the time i got my food i didnt even enjoy it because of the rude encounter i had with this "lovely" younge lady Juliana or (Julie) And i know her name because I asked her and she told me her name very rude. It was my first time eating there and I would never in my life go there again.

First, the prices on the menu board are wrong. I got charged $1.85 for an extra thigh when it clearly says on the menu that its $1.75. When I told the cashier she said they havent changed the menu board. Then the lady comes out 20 minutes after and says there are no thighs left. She promises to give me a wing and a leg in lieu of the thigh. When I get my order another 15 minutes after, my order is short. I go talk to the cashier and says she cannot do what she promised. Which at this point is ok with me but I am still short on my order! Real unprofessional staff and unprofessional establishment. Its a shame because the food is good, specially the waffles!

The fried chicken is just "OK" -- the cayenne-spiked batter tastes a tad over-fried and the chicken itself a little bit funky. Not to mention their use of a heat-lamp to hold fried chicken rather than making to-order. But I can live with these issues because the food is cheap. Also, lets put it this way: the fried chicken here is likely better than Churchs, KFC, and Popeyes on most days. What may bring me back again are the excellent collard greens, where youll find actual chunks of pork hocks. These greens are the top tier of what Ive been able to get in the San Diego region, and theyre worth at least an extra star alone.

Went there for lunch with the family on a Saturday afternoon. The place was located right at the freeway off ramp in a fast food strip mall. The service was extremely friendly and most of the customers look like they had been there many times. We were looking for soul food and stumbled on this restaurant. We had both the fried chicken and the fried catfish and we enjoyed the food. The service was a bit slow but the food was well worth the wait. They have a good selection of side dishes. We chose the collard green. We were slightly disappointed with their gumbo. Overall it was a good experience and well go back again.

Went to get a 10 piece catfish pack. No catfish available. Disappointed. So I ordered a 2 piece ref snapper combo with cabbage and a cornbread muffin to go. Waited 30 mins for my food. First.of all I was disappointed no catfish, when I got my order no cornbread because they didnt have any and they gave me a dinner roll. . A dinner roll? Then the other diners heard me and complained about the service and the food also. 4 diners went away complaining and said they would not be back. I wont be buying anything either. Want to support my black business but when you get disappointed time and time again how can you?

I love this place! We go here for our "Fish Fridays" as well as any other time we want some good soul food and we dont want to cook it. The fish is the best in the city! The chicken has a great seasoning and kick to it and the peach cobbler taste like grandmas. They are centrally located, right off the freeway, and ALWAYS have excellent service. Reggie is great. Any issues speak to him and he takes care of it right then and there. Great food and customer service! You cant ask for more!

I went there because I heard from a friend that they got a new restaurant over there by Starbucks.. So I wemt and got a 2-piece meal.. let me tell you, this was the best damn chicken I ever ate! Hands down! You must go there, the place is clean, and the people are nice. What else can you ask for? This place will take all the business from the other restaurants in that area.. So, go get yourself some good-@$$ food! This place is great!
