I had an amazing time! My grandma was in a meeting so me and my aunt got a table outside the room! And the queso was delish!!! Although they dont have Dr. pepper I got a ginger ale and within 5 mins the waitress came and asked if we wanted a fun drink like a piña colada!! We got one and it was AMAZING!! I would recommend you to come to Red O in Santa Monica, California. My service was AMAZING!! The staff was nice funny and very willing to help with your stay in anyway!! I ❤️ Red O in Santa Monica California!!!!

another winner from rick bayless. if you know the frontera grill salsas from your grocery store, then you know rick bayless. i first became familiar with him from frontera grill and topolobampo in chicago. red O is probably more frontera than topolobampo, and thats just fine with me. finally a good tenant for 41 ocean, because the previous japanese and lounge places just, well, sucked. great mexican food, enchiladas running around $20 or so, but absolutely great. a nice scene, too, and a perfect location.

Overly priced for absolutely NO GOOD reason. My fiancé and I dined at Red O a few days ago. I should say the service was great but all the rest was far from that - The duck tacitas (starter) were not tasty at all even boring I should say, my see bass was over cooked and dry and my fiancé steak was o.k. All portions were very small and of average taste to say the least, nevertheless the check was $170 which would be just fine if it was worth it...but it absolutely DID NOT. My recommendation - AVOID.

I love Mexican food, it is vibrant and simply amazing. This restaurant does not represent any form of any good mexican dishes. Dishes are bland, and presented with absurd combinations. The food is OK but I have eaten far better food for cheaper prices. The price is off the charts $38 for scallops, and $21 for other entres. You would simply be better off paying $10 at the food trucks across the street for far better food and much more reasonable prices.

The food was extremely bland. The cafe I went to for breakfast was more of an authentic mexican restaurant than this place. Most mexican restaurants are known for their rice, beans, salsa, margs, and tacos, but all of these options on the menu of this place was way under par for the prices listed. Service deserves a single star, but the food alone needs half a star where "half-a-star" comes from the food existing.

Good location, marginal food, but terrible for the price. Of the 6-7 appetizers, dinners & desserts, only one was average/good, let alone memorable (dessert... which they unknowlingly charged for despite 2 birthdays) . But you dont pay for the food here, youre paying soley for the location. Anyone that tells you otherwise, is just hyping it up. Keep food expectations very low.

I was waiting to be seated and was told it would just be a moment so I waited. Was ignored for there as if they never saw me, as they continued to seat people in front of me that were waiting just like I was. Unfortunately it was a horrible experience. Makes me think it may have been because of my skin tone, hopefully not.

Iv never had such shocking service! Even our server was right next to us clearing another table, completely ignored us and never came back! Couldnt even get another drink! Asked random server for the bill and left!! Thanks for the free Nachos!! Have now walked straight into the restaurant next door!!

We were just looking for a quick bite in Santa Monica and hit the Red O at happy hour. Amazing tacos for $3 each - really tasty. Good fresh salsa and chips and reasonable drink prices. Great jazzy music and excellent staff. My wife had a salad that looked like way more than a side. Great place.

I am such a fan of this restaurant so we decided to try the Santa Monica location. It was crowded and cozy but I found the food to be overall a bit bland. Our service was superior! But, I will be returning to the Melrose location and never straying again. Step it up in the kitchen folks...

Fun, fresh and with good views of the avenue. Its got some nice things going on during the happy hour Its hot on a lot of other locale lists and deservedly so. Its not your usual Mexican fare it s a bit on the light California style but its fun and delicious.

Honestly the food was not great for the price. While the salsa was good, the chips were stale, and thats never a good first impression. The corn was good but the tortilla soup was mostly cheese and the cheese (queso fresco) was mostly grease.

I am from Southern California and this was one of the best Mexican food I have ever had! We went in on a busy night and somehow our order was lost but the staff was apologetic and gave us a free round of alcohol. The food was worth the wait!

We came here during DineLA week. It wasnt too crowded when we got there during the afternoon. The whole restaurant environment is pretty good. Food wasnt excellent, but still decent enough to deserve four stars.

The happy hour hear until 7pm is fantastic. Tacos, appetizers and drinks for a low price in this prime location. If you feel like splurging, make sure you get the Tomahawk steak with Lobster!

Fun, classy restaurant, freindly staff! Chips and salsa were delicious, and waiter kept them full for the table. Chicken tortilla soup was also incredible, and served beautifully.

I enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant, but the food wasnt very good. The quality of the food was top of the line, but for my preference the flavors really didnt stand out.

Lively upscale Mexican restaurant near Santa Monica beach. Watch the sun set. Offers many shareable plates, entrees, drinks. Good quality but you pay for it.

The food is sub-par and expensive. I ordered the ceviche and it was terrible. Only order drinks if you venture into this place.

Overpriced food that is mediocre in taste. Their brunch drink special is nice but the restaurant was empty for a reason.

Parking is always a problem around here unless you want to valet. But valet isnt too expensive so its worth it.
