My wife and I like Thai food. After spending months trying to find a food Thai restaurant in/around San Mateo, we came across Bangkok Patio. We ordered Samosas (cant help it I am an Indian!), Green Curry with Coconut Rice and Drunken Duck Noodles (without the Duck of course). We also ordered the food very spicy. The food tasted delicious even though the neighborhood was a bit ghetto. The place isnt that big and even in Saturday evening there were only about 2-3 tables filled up. BTW, the food was so good that this is going to be our go to restaurant for Thai from now on. Samosas are totally worth trying and so are the noodles. Green Curry is good and it was really spicy :) Tip: Dont walk alone if possible around the neighborhood specially in the evenings.

Over the course of the past 30 years, I have tried many thai restaurants throughout the bay area. Without a doubt, this is the best, authentic thai restaurant I have enjoyed. The food is made fresh and completely from scratch! The food is always tasty! And the staff is attentive friendly! My favorite dishes are the Pad Basil, Garlic Lamb, and Tom Yum Gai. When I ask for my food to be served "pet mak mak" (Thai Hot), they make it that way! I am proud to bring new customers to this spot, as I know they will not be disappointed!

Was in town the bay area and randomly metc here with a group of friends. Food was pretty delicious......I could definitely see it as my go to Thai spot if I had the misfortune of living in San Mateo. But for those who do make that choice you might as well be fed. I had a delicious pineapple fried rice....customized to my picky vegetarian specifications. Most of all the staff was very attentive to details, friendly, and offered a wonderful complimentary dessert for our friends birthday.

I love the food here but the service has always been frustrating, and is getting worse. I waited twenty minutes longer than originally promised for my takeout order. The dining space is very nice, but I have waited up to an hour for food. The staff used to offer freebies to keep people happy, but I havent gotten any of these lately. Will need to find another go to Thai place in San Mateo.

Food was pretty ok but the service is unacceptably slow. Ridiculously long wait for simple dishes, and the portion was quite small. Tom yum and curry felt too catered to the western tongue as it was too much sweetness and not enough sour or spice. The prata is amazing though and definitely worth a try if youre willing to wait it out. They serve both white and brown rice which is another plus.

Food is just so-so. The service here is always frustrating. The waitress served wrong courses for twice....... And its so slow. The main courses were served before the appetizers! And main courses for us four are not served at the same time. When the last main course was served, the person with the first served had most done. NOT recommend.

I decided to give Bangkok another try. I placed my phone order and went to pick it up early. I was able to speak to the Chef, she was really nice and concerned that I was happy with the food I ordered. I was pleased and will stop in again, thank you for ensuring my order was correct and the food was freshly cooked.

Lovely decor, great menu--I even found meat salad, which is oddly rare (pardon the pun) in Thai restaurants around here. Staff are very solicitous and accommodating-- I came in with a baby stroller and they got my table set up quickly and helped entertain my son.

Every time I come here, I have an exceptional meal. I travel to Thailand often, and it is great to find a place that tastes so authentic here in the states. Service is excellent and the place is very clean. There is parking in the back.

Not going back there again. I dont know how come this place rated as 4 star. Even looking at the pictures of plates on their own website any one can tell not professional cook and no one can serve food like this in any restaurant.

Had Pad Thai, Tom Yum chicken soup and Thai Ice Tea. Price is decent with pleasant ambiance and service. Not quite authentic thai, perhaps adapted to suit the locals. Tom yum is tasty but tasted more like tomato soup.

I love spicy food and I thought medium spicy was pretty spicy. Service was great (Wan is a really nice guy). I like that they give the Tom Yum soup with a flame underneath to keep it hot.

Very good curries (especially the green curry), and very nice staff. The food tasted fresh and home-cooked - Lots of tasty, sauteed veggies too! A good addition to "downtown" San Mateo.
