This is my favorite dim sum place in the bay area, and its a few min drive from the office. Every dish that I tried from this place is delicious. The ladies who push the carts around are nice. The wait staff are also nice and attentive. This place is huge but even on weekdays, during lunch time it gets packed. They serve diff kinds of dim sum and are always warm and fresh. They also have a regular menu of chinese dishes but weve never tried because we always go here for the dim sum. The prices are cheap, but the quality of the food and service is excellent. We always get the fried calamari, chicken wings, crunchy shrimp rice roll (not sure if thats the name), sui mai, har gow and steamed buns. Ive only been here twice on a weekend but it sure is packed and theres a wait if you dont get here early. Theres more selection in the carts on weekends and more carts being pushed around because they open the private room to accommodate more people. Parking is twice as hard so consider yourself lucky if you get one right away. They also charge you for tea on weekends, so just drink water if you dont want to pay for tea. Parking can be a challenge during lunch time. They have street metered parking in front of the restaurant and a small parking lot at the back that can probably fit 8-10 cars.

There is Dim Sum and there is "Dim Sum"! Yes, finding a restaurant that serves Dim Sum isnt difficult. The challenge is finding one that has the Ying/Yang balance of Food quality, Service, Staff, Parking, Wait time, and Cost. You can always find Dim Sum for less, but cost of raw ingredients is about the same for all restaurants, it comes down to mark up and what you are willing to give up for cloth table covers and plenty of service staff waiting on you. But isnt eating out about the experience as well? I hosted my 10 year wedding anniversary here at East Ocean and service was excellent and everyone who attended had a great time. I recommend this place not just for Dim Sum, but for their dinner menu as well. If you feel that Chinese Cuisine is not just about the least expensive, but deserves to be an culinary experience as well, then I invite you to give this place a try. If you do, be sure to try the Salt and Pepper Fish or Calamari...

The food here is excellent. I gave it four out of five stars because the service was slow but there is an excuse. Not because it was busy but because it was slow. Hear me out. In a dim sum restaurant, logistics and inventory management is key. Chinese people really prefer their dim sum hot and fresh. In order to keep up with demand properly, you need a healthy customer load. In order to get my food fresh while Im one of two tables, they had to prepare each dish individually and that takes forever. Its best to eat when its busy. So, I recommend this place. My two cents, come when there are more people here.

We had Sunday dim sum lunch here. It was busy but the place is so big there are lots of tables and they are continuously turning over. There are lots of carts and lots of servers to get you anything you want. The young lady in our area helping us was able to get us the dishes we wanted by radioing for a particular cart. It was busy so there were lots of fresh dishes. Everything was perfectly cooked - nothing tasted like it had been sitting for a long time. Meats were tender; dough was soft and fresh. Best dim sum Ive had in a long time and so many choices.

This is my favorite dim sum spot. This place is huge but is so popular that on most weekends you can expect to wait for a bit. Even when the lines are long they get tables set up/cleaned up quickly and efficiently. I always have to get my favorite go to dishes- ha gao, shumai and sesame balls. I always leave feeling happy and stuffed to the brim. The only downside is the parking situation. Since its mainly street parking you can expect to park a few blocks away. But a little walking after stuffing myself silly never hurt anyone!

On weekends, pick a number and expect to wait. Theres more of a selection on the carts compared to the weekdays, where you order alot of the dishes from the kitchen. Also, they charge $1 for hot tea! Just a heads up since many places dont charge so most people assume its free. But all the dim sum items Ive gotten have been fresh and no complaints! The lunch specials are also a great deal if youre not in the dim sum mood. The service isnt anything stellar, but eh, the food outshines that.

Really good Chinese food! We had pot stickers (huge & delicious), mushu pork (excellent), bbq chicken pan fried rice (gently sweet, nummy) and cashew chicken (gingery!). This restaurant is also well known for its dim sum for lunch. They used to have the dim sum carts from which you made your choices. Now the dim sum is listed on a menu.. I miss the carts, but the dim sum is still really good! Next time we will come for lunch!

Great food. Very fast pace. The cart ladies will try and put stuff on your table and tell you to try it. I wasnt used to that. its pushing the specials at an all new level. But be careful, its not an all you can eat (although the prices are really reasonable). It cost us 30$ for 2 people and we were both very full. Would recommend!

incredible value for the quality. rivals some of the better dim sum houses in the city at much lower price. salt and pepper prawns was better than at R&G and black sesame seeds mochi is on par with Yank Sing. some items lack finesse (thicker wrappers, balance in flavor). . .however, for the money, its hard to beat.

Though not quiet, carpeted floors, acoustic ceiling & widely placed seating helps to moderate sound so you can hear each other talk. Friendly waitstaff. Decor is simple, food is fresh & comes out tasty & hot. Has big tables for groups. Dinner, comprising a basic meal, ran around $13/dish. Will go back again.

Not the friendliest of services, except for one person. Over priced. Comes out piping hot though! Tea charge of $1 each person. Rice $1.50 per bowl. Depending on what you order, portions can be either big (calamari & eggplant) or typically small (everything else). See pictures. Would I visit again? Nope.

Awsome awsome awsome food...better then expected....only bad thing was the wait staff was not on their job..I had to grab my own forks and go pay at the register myself...we waited 20 min before anyone even helped us on our order and it was empty in there...other then that..great food....

Great experience here at East Ocean Seafood. The lunch Dim Sum had great selection and the food was delicious. The staff was also very helpful and professional unlike your typical Chinese restaurant experience. I would highly recommend this place if you want to try good Dim Sum.

Bland boring overpriced food. Like they ran out of any sugar or salt. Vanilla honey walnut shrimp is just shrimp covered in mayonnaise and candied walnuts. The chicken was slimy, and the sweet and sour pork was unflavored. Also the service was poor. Would not ever recommend.
