I was excited to try this place out but decided to keep my expectations for Mingalaba low. I didnt want to taint a good experience with preconceived notions, and Im I glad that I did. I was genuinely blown out of the water with this restaurant and the breathtaking cuisine they are pushing out at breakneck pace. We started with the coconut stew which included potatoes, chicken, coconut milk, lemon zest, lemon juice, ginger etc. This is one of if not the best bowls of stew I have ever touched my lips to, and I will certainly be coming back for another helping of that magical coconutty goodness (I usually dislike coconut, but this dish is so amazing). Next we were served the highly praised mango chicken which was recommended online, however I unfortunately found the chicken to be quite grisly and chewy, not crispy and light as expected. This seemed to be an outlier though as our next dish was fantastic! Following the light-hearted disappointment of the mango chicken, we were promptly brought our dish of "house noodles" which are essentially paprdelle noodles served with a subtle cream sauce and assorted mushrooms and vegatables. I was pleasantly surprised as I did not know what to expect from this dish. It was a sensory symphony, and it seemed as though a fine balance of Asian and Italian noodlecraft has been perfectly manifested within this beautifully constructed masterpiece of a dish. In conclusion, The exquisite Mingalaba is certainly a fantastic restaurant, and I definitely will be returning soon for another elegant and stunningly composed meal at a fair and affordable price.

Tasty Asian food with good service. Mingalaba has been in Burlingame for awhile now, it is the only Burmese/Chinese food around the area until the recent opening of Rangoon Ruby two doors down. They are always packed in the evening. Be prepared to wait at least 10-20mins. They have a clipboard hanging by the entrance for you to pen down your name and no. of people. Today, we were earlier, we got there at 6pm and managed to get a seat right away. Shortly after we were seated, the queue started forming! Ordered the Burmese salad - Lap Pat Dok Salad. Unique taste of sweet, sour, salty and nutty favor all in one dish. And oh, its a tad spicy - skip the green chili. Main dishes were Pan Fried String Bean Pork and Curry Pork. Both were delicious. Their portions are good for 2pax to share for each dish unless you intend to order many dishes. The curry was very fragrant and yummy. Ordered their popular Burmese Ice Tea, its very similar to the Thai version. Highly recommended. Service was prompt and food served fairly quickly despite operating at full capacity. With a direct competitor just doors away, hope to see more attractive meal sets or offerings soon.

just sayin
I was there last night with a friend. The service at around 9pm was a 1 star the dishes we had included a noodle with coconut and chicken, a curry chicken with potatoes, and string beans. The only flavorful dish was the green beans. When I asked the server and the older male server (obviously the owner) for suggestions as long as the items had no shellfish, he said the green beans are a popular. Again, i said great as long as there is no shellfish. When the bill comes I find out that the green beans are cooked with shrimp paste. I just about flipped out. When I shared with them that I said Im allergic to shellfish, they replied with, "you didnt tell us" yes I did tell you. This place didnt even care. They just charge up the bill, and thats that. I will no longer go there, and I will make sure that everyone else knows that they arent careful with the handling of your order. I could have died last night or have gone to the ER for their negligence. Hey Mingalaba, your food is overpriced and 1 out 3 items had flavor to it.

only if you know where to park and have plenty of time We were here while waiting overnight for a flight out of SFO - an excellent choice, but difficult to park and a long wait to get in. Even when we left at 8:15, there was still a line trailing out the door. It is easy to see why. Their food is wonderful, although to me the green tea salad was mostly oily peanuts—my personal reaction, other people love it. I had the Burmese curry lamb, which was excellent. My wife ordered house special noodles which were even better. If you are patient enough, this restaurant is an excellent choice, but only if you know where to park and have plenty of time.

If u are food buff and like to try different cuisines.. Dont miss this.. Its BURMESE.. Very few places have this cuisine.. So give it a try.. On a fine Monday evening.. We waited approximately 15min to get in.. So get ready for it.. Food looks like Chinese/Indian.. But tastes like Burmese(which I never tasted).. :p Food lacks Spiciness but it tastes good.. We tried Tempura shrimp avocado rolls (One shrimp rolled in rice wraps).. ok ok.. Singapure Noodles.. This is pretty good Dont forget to try Coconut water.. You can see a real coconut.. Its worth a try but dont keep high expectations..

A very small and busy Burmese restaurant in the downtown Burlingame area. We ordered the tea leaf salad, roti pratha (crispy crepe with curry dipping sauce), veggie samusa soup, and curry prawns. The tea leaf salad was flavorful, the curry sipping sauce for the roti was a little bland, the samusa soup was very spicy, and the curry prawns were very tomatoey. The coconut rice is delicious. Overall, the food was good but I prefer Burma Superstar. They dont take reservations so expect to wait about 45 minutes for a table on the weekend.

This is the BEST restaurant in Burlingame for a vegetarian, the options are endless. I visit a few times a month. Im a happy regular. My favorites: papaya salad, tea leaf salad, mango salad, garlic noodles, roti appetizer, coconut rice, eggplant in black bean sauce, etc. You really cant go wrong. Tip: most weekdays the line is about 30-60 minutes for a 2 person table, so I highly recommend ordering to go. Also, they dont take reservations for parties smaller than 3 persons. They are very popular because the food is delicious. Enjoy!

3 stars for service which was very slow and spotty, but 5 stars for the food which was excellent once it showed up. We made reservations and the staff did not know how to properly seat the restaurant which led to our party having to wait a significant amount of extra time for the staff to realize they could have sat us right away, but didnt. Drinks and initial orders took a long time, but once the food came to the table, it was a stellar example of Burmese cuisine.

This place is usually packed. The food is very good but the service is pretty bad. I ordered takeout one time and I had to wait in the restaurant for over forty minutes after the food should have been finished. They had lost my order and only figured that out 15 minutes after I arrived. Even though it took twice as long as it should have to get my food they did not comp my order or try to make up for their mistakes in any way.

Update 2017: quite good once i started to figure out which plates I like and dislike. Ive been there three times. Everybodys all excited about it because its a "Burmese" restaurant. But the food simply doesnt taste that good. I tried to like it - but was disappointed every time. Theres all this fancy exotic ingredients, but the fried garlic chips just blow all the other (bland) flavors away. Maybe I just ordered wrong.
