Watched Game 6 of the NBA finals here with some members of my family and to be completely honest, I would give them 4 stars for their flexibility and for being accommodating, but I am not a fan (per Yelps rating comments). There are several things to keep in mind if you plan on coming here, especially with a large party: First, parking is a pain, the parking lot for their establishment is really really small and its shared with other stores in their center. There is parking on the outskirts thats metered until 6pm, or there is the option to park in the nearby shopping center, but park at your own risk, you could get towed. The pub is small to medium sized, there is a separate larger room off to the right-hand side of the main bar area. I am not sure if there is a TV screen, I didnt look. Second, make sure your entire party is present otherwise you will not be seated, if your reservation is for 6, you must have a minimum of 5 people present but no less and believe you me, you will be made aware of their policy. *Additionally, if the party before yours hasnt been seated, but your entire party is present then you still have to wait for the party before yours to be seated first. Very strange policy to have customers waiting unnecessarily. I wouldnt necessarily say the hostess the night I went had an attitude, but the situation that evening was a little tense. I do, however, understand she was merely following policy and doing her job. She handled the situation very well, despite the vibe in the room. It was a "hot" game, and the place was packed. There were a lot of people waiting to be seated and A LOT of unhappy impatient people were waiting. Third, there are TVs all around you, smaller ones mounted on the walls in one section of the main room, and a larger screen in the other section of the room. There are also smaller mounted ones in the same room that had the larger screen. There are also two large seating areas on the outside of the pub with heat lamps. But inside the pub is where all the action happens, the vibe, the crowd, the cheering, and camaraderie ... at least for the evening of Game 6. Fourth, the food is decent for bar food. There were plenty of appetizers on our table, the Kobe Beef Sliders were really good, we had at least 3 orders of them, they come 3 per plate per order. The onion rings were tasty too, lightly battered, not heavy or oily. The wait staff was on top of things that night, paying attention, offering advice/suggestions and being helpful. One waitress Jessie Ray (sp?) was especially helpful, understanding, and accommodating to our party. It was a difficult night, to work with so many people wanting to watch the warriors game and there not being enough seating, or not being able to seat people whose full party hadnt arrived yet. But I wanted to let Jesse Ray, the hostess, and our waitress knows via this review that I thought they handled the seating issue that evening very well. A tough night but they handled it.

For an evening out with friends and a good pint of beer, this is a place you can go in San Leandro. If youre also up for watching some TV (sports, cause its a sports pub) then youre in the right place. Sometimes it can get very loud/noisy, but you can sit outside if that bothers you (just dont come in for any bigger events/games, if youre not into sports - youll hate it). On busy nights youll have to wait in line for some time, so make a reservation. The staff is normally friendly, but sometimes slow, so dont be too disappointed if youre gonna have to wait for your food for a while (thats why only 3 stars). It really depends on what day and what time you come in. Evenings and weekends are definitely more busy than early afternoons and weekdays. They have quite a good selection of burgers (and beers) with beer battered fries (or sweet potato and garlic fries - but they are not as good as the beer battered ones). The prices are okay, maybe more towards the pricey side, but thats what you get if you want an English Pub.

Always been a good spot. Jot (the owner of the bar) is a jolly local dude. He owns a few other businesses in the downtown area, and Ive frequently seen him overseeing his pride and joy. I have to say, this place is a real blessing in downtown San Leandro. It is THE local gathering hole for friends and co-workers, it has a great atmosphere, amazing food, fair prices, great service, and its one heck of a lot better than the bar-brawling tomfoolery of a joint that it replaced. Thanks for the awesome place to visit Jot! Also, do yourself a favor and try the venison burger (rare) with cheese and beer batter or garlic fries with a tasty fresh draft beer... you wont be sorry.

Stay away. Far away. The service is non-existent. The Cottage Pie was so loaded with red pepper out was inedible. The fish and chips, although claimed to be prepared fresh with their beer batter was limp, old and obviously frozen. I love cask conditioned ales, but, you do not shake the cask before you serve it. I do not believe anyone at the place could find England on a map much less have ever come from there. We nearly had to trip the server to get her attention. The only reason this got 1 star is that I cant give it 0 stars on this app. Stay away.

As a sports bar its very well done with the multiple TVs and the endless selection of beers. The food is well below average. After 5 visits I wont eat here unless with friends who have no taste for food. I suspect almost all dishes are purchased from a food wholesaler and put together on site. The hamburgers which should be unique are pedestrian. To me this should be the star item yet the bun is nothing and the meat uninspiring. Service is normally attentive, sometimes rushed.

Great bar, with a great selection of beer and spirits. Over 30 beers on selection. Great food with different cultural influences. Good portions for the prices. Theres a cool backroom were they hold stand up and other events(I have heard stories of beer pong and fight night parties). I would definitely recommend this place to mostly adults. But children are welcomed. Also there are lots of televisions.

Usually LOVE this place but for the nba playoffs they are adding a forced 20% even for one person table... I get that it gets busy but when we first got here there were no people yet our server took ONE hour to bring us water. Not ok. I would be more than happy to tip well if i had gotten that service to begin with. Plus they were out of pliny which is just sad :(

I spent years stuffing my face and guzzling beer here on a weekly basis after a routine grueling bike ride around Redwood Road. The Englander was the place where I was introduced to Pliny the Elder IPA and its been a love affair ever since. This is one of the best sports bars in the Bay Area and a great place to watch pro bike racing on the big screen.

Fish tacos were made with a low quality frozen fish stick (MrsPauls would be an improvement), lettuce that sits in my fridge for a week tastes better, both rice and beans were bland, bland, bland and service was abysmal. Id have given them no more than one star or perhaps none, but MrsS said her pasta dish was "alright" ...
