In my opinion its the best pub in the district, and quite a way beyond. The owners have done a great job creating a pub-like atmosphere. When theres a fire going, the céilí band is playing, you have a fine drink in your hand and hopefully some good pub grub in your belly or on your plate, well, its grand. Ive eaten at Sláinte twice now and both times the food has been very good. My only comments would be I would have liked to have more of the all day breakfast - although it was actually more than you think from the small oval plate it is served on. Also I wasnt over the moon about the fish batter in their fish and chips. I prefer a lighter crisper batter and theirs is more solid like a thin pie crust. I dont know if it is intentional and a traditional Irish variation on the British fish and chips Im most familiar with. Today I had the gingerbread with whiskey cream - delicious and just how my mother made it. Id think about getting a shot of something on the side to pour on it just for a bit of extra kick ;-) The sausage roll wasnt quite what I was expecting - but the pastry was authentic and the pork filling although not sausage-like to me was very tasty. Again, its probably just a case of being different from what I expect, not in any way bad. That and a tomato soup of the day was filling enough that I barely had room for the gingerbread pudding... Im very happy Sláinte is in the neighborhood and I hope they have a long an successful stay here - finally a pub I can call my own.

A much needed Irish bar for the area. Cozy place with a separate rooms along with a fireplace. Kill some time on dart board or read a book, but most just socialized. Angle bar counter seating is perfect for watching bartender in action with no neck strained. Comfy furnitures and fixtures makes this place a perfect hideout during the winter. I nestled in got me Irish coffee pair with shepards pie. Irish coffee is as good as Buena Vista of SF. Pie is tasty as mashed potatoes are fluffy on top with near browning. Ground lamb well-seasoned with green peas mixed in. Its a treat itself.

So good!!!! The food is amazing as well as the beer and stout. A really cute environment as well with very nice people. I went there when it was pretty new and didnt have much people in it and went back a few weeks later and it was packed! Even the outdoor seating, so I hope this means theyre doing well because thier fish and chips are too tasty. They even give you the choice to have your food friend in rice bran vinegar or beef tallow, super important to me because I am pesco-vegetarian and would hate to have eaten something friend in need tallow. Great place! Check it out!

Newly opened authentic Irish place in Jack London. Very friendly staff, nice setup of the place, large bar, lots of open seating, seems like a very nice casual hangout spot. Was doing swift business on a Sunday afternoon, but wasnt overly crowded, so it was comfortable. Drink prices are a little high imo ($8 for a pint of Guinness, could stand to be a couple bucks cheaper) but they pour a perfect pint. Decor was interesting, with books by Irish authors, and theres a dartboard. The painting of James Joyce is a nice touch.

Slainte in Oakland is a new Irish bar and whiskey spot with wooden stools, cozy couches and a fireplace with a quirky mix of furniture and people. The space is small, but big enough for grabbing a beer or an Irish coffee. The staff are friendly and really take their time with customers, so be prepared to wait a bit. The prices are higher for an Oakland spot.

Great homey place. The food is good, the Irish coffee is great. I hope this place will be around for a while. Its a good place to pop in for a pint, or a meal, or to gather with friends. Why not 5 stars? My server could have been a little more attentive, but its a minor point and I hope to bump it up with more visits.

Incredibly kind and helpful staff, great whiskey selection and delicious, reasonably priced Irish pub food. I got the shepherds pie and she got the fish and chips, both delectable. I think this may be our new spot in Jack London Square. So glad to have found it!

Looked very cozy and welcoming, Im sure it is. Very genuine if you want to drink crappy Irish beer and cider (think Harp Lager and Magners Cider). Less genuine if you look at the prices, with Guinness at $8 a pint and all-day "Irish" breakfast $16.

Opening day you expect rookie waiters, slow service or some other mishap. NOT the case here--the waiters were spot on with fast, friendly service. The food was great and cooked to order. Great drinks, great atmosphere. Slainte!

A large painting of Oscar Wilde (not James Joyce) greets you as you walk in. Everyone there is super friendly. Great spot for a low-key happy hour with coworkers, or a hearty Irish lunch w/ a pint.
