I never thought Id eat there again, but I went there yesterday with my father, and it was a much better experience than the last time. Ive gone to this place 3 times in the last several weeks. The local Pep Boys works on my car. Ive had brakes done, bought tires, wheels, and some other services, including an oil change, so I ate here as its just around the corner. The first time was good, though I originally thought the price kind of high for the buffet during dinner time, $14 M-Th., which they dont advertise very much, if at all. Its $16.99 Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays, or something like that, and its less for lunch before 4PM. However, during my last visit with a relative, we decided their prices were good. They have even better prices on drinks. Service was good the first time, and it was OK the second. However, there was a major problem the second time on Friday, January 30, 2009: a large piece of glass in one of my egg rolls. Luckily I noticed the hard object before swallowing, though apparently not breaking the glass. I thought it was bone, so I didnt just swallow it, lucky for me. It was then I found it was a piece of glass, not bone. I brought it over to the waitress who at first seemed in denial. They later apologized, and I asked for a manager. The advice nurse at VMC and my father thought the 15 percent they took off was rather cheap, and the advice nurse said she goes there often but would not go there again. Finding the glass in my food also made me mostly lose my appetite, but after I also chewed very, very carefully. I thought further about the situation and complained further. I was even considering having my credit card payment cancelled, something you can do with credit-card payments. However, Michael there offered me a free meal instead, which I decided to take as the place is near where I have work done on my car as I said, and others I spoke to about it thought it reasonable. I tried it again yesterday with my father, and it was much better. In my visit yesterday, the food was good, including the sushi, the place was clean, and the service was good too. Though it was lunch, the management took of the price of a F-Su dinner, which I had paid for the Friday I found the glass in my eggroll. Dad thought the incident a fluke, which I hope it is, and with the experience yesterday and after discussing the matter, Ive decided to raise my rating of the place from one star to three. Do be careful. It was probably an isolated incident. However, glass in foods a serious matter, and it left me scared for a few days at least. I worry about the seriousness of the matter but did also complain to the Santa Clara County Health Department about it. The department seemed upset I hadnt reported it earlier, as I waited a week to do so, but apprently the county does check the place out.

Hokkaido Buffet is one of the last Asian all you can eat, buffet style, in the Bay Area. With that being said, its a great place to come eat all you can during dinner, its about $20 per adult (not including drinks). Recently, my family held my brothers graduation party here in there banquet room. The guy, who I can assume is the manager, was incredibly helpful and nice. But what I hear from my guests, the waitresses were not as pleasant. Personally, I think the food is a good mixture of Americanized Asian food and some actual Asian food. The seafood here is great but Ive been told the sushi (yes, theres a sushi bar) is just ok. The reason I give them a 4/5 is just because their banquet room needs some serious upgrade and remodeling. While the food and party was great, there are some serious water stains on the carpet, walls, and ceiling. The chandelier they have is broken and the room lacks overall nice decor. But regardless of this, the food always tastes fresh and is nicely laid out so I will always be returning!

I have been to this buffet a few times both for lunch and dinner. I have to say that, for a buffet, their sashimi is pretty fresh as are their rolls. They have a good variety of rolls and overall a good sized buffet with a lot of variety. Their Chinese dishes are typical quality for buffet, but the plus is the variation in choices and this includes dessert. Their fountain drinks are free refills and at dinner you can get crab legs and some other higher priced items you wont get at lunch. For my husband, daughter, and myself to eat here at dinner was about $65 without tip (which wasnt outrageous since its primarily self-service). The bathroom is not very sanitary and freezing cold and the service is mediocre. Compared to Tatami Buffet, we opt to come here because the quality and service are equally the same except Hokkaido offers a lot more variety although Tatami is much nicer and seems cleaner overall.

We have a luncheon reservation today , after the Funeral service. We are all happy the associates are all nice . They pick up the used plate and very attentive on all the drinks and tea , they do refill it at once without asking. The foods are delicious and fresh. Different kind of Sushi are all fresh and tasty.Manager Kevin answer all the question we ask and the price is right. I will recommend this Buffet place to all my friends and familys especially having a party. place are clean as well as their restroom. . more parking available.

The food here was fine, Id say on the good side of average for an Asian buffet, but it was one of the dirtiest restrooms Ive ever seen in a business. It absolutely reeks of stale urine, and the steel urinal partitions are literally rotting away presumably from all the urine splash over the years, coupled with an apparent absence of any kind of routine maintenance. The floor looked like it hadnt been mopped in a month, and the sides and corners of the floor looked like they were never mopped at all. The picture says it all.

Just been to this Chinese buffet. Only about 10 people were eating on a Wednesday night at a place that can hold 200 people, which is good for us because we needed a quiet place to converse. They had good food variety, including even lobsters and sea bass. But most of the food was badly cooked and prepared. Looks like the chef there is poorly paid and unhappy. Price is $15 per person, which is a little too high for this kind of food quality.

Best lunch buffet deal in San Jose? For only 13.66 USD--assuming you get water as your drink--and a dollar tip, you can get 9+ kinds of sushi; froyo, cookies, and pastries; chow mein; soup; fried chicken; baked salmon; and several other options. The seafood is clearly the star here, so if you like sushi, consider coming here for lunch. (July 2017)

Overall good buffet, decent number of dishes available, but from a taste point of view there doesnt seem to be much variety. The sushi is well maintained and I would reckon that is the best pay off the menu, however youll get better value going to an actual sushi buffet. Decent location to visit every couple of months to mix things up.
