This "restaurant" is one of the most disgusting places I have ever been. Here is a walkthrough of my experience. When I got a tray and plate at the entrance/salad bar entrance, most of them were not dry, some even having food or soap still on them. The salad bar barely had any spinach, and I had to ask the staff to refill it. Most of the food was cross contaminated, with some foods mixing. Not to mention the fact that the countertops were dirty. The soups and pastas section was alright. The chicken noodle soup was essentially cardboard and boiled water. All the bowls were covered in soap water, or COMPLETELY coated in food residue. The bakery was even worse. Half of the food that was there was not even there. The plates were also covered in soap water. The eating area reminded me of a pig pen. The carpet was completely trashed with food, napkins, and God knows what else. The seats were covered in food, and there were close to no staff clearing the tables. In the end we had to clear and clean the tables ourselves. Sweet Tomatoes used to be a good restaurant, but has quickly gone downhill since then. In fact, I am still surprised that the health department has not shut down this establishment for their unsanitary practices. I dont plan on retuning, but I hope management can fix these issues so that people wont get sick.

So most of you in the Bay Area have been to Fresh Choice. Sweet Tomatoes is very similar to Fresh Choice with very little to differentiate between the two. But I will review the two places independently so you get a feel for what it offers. The branch of Sweet Tomatoes we visited was in Sunnyvale, next to the big hulking Costco. The place was packed for lunch on a warm Saturday afternoon when we descended with a big group. We were seated fairly quickly due to the constantly moving crowd. The entrance fee as I like to call it was similar to the one at Fresh Choice and we started gathering our veggies and fruits. I was pleasantly surprised to find a kids only plate at a lower cost and also a much wider salad bar than the one at Fresh Choice. I liked the overall arrangement of salad items and their choice of dressings. The fee paid, we got access to the pizza and soup sections of the restaurant. The pizzas were warm and the soups were tasty. There were two vegetarian options out of 3 soups which was good. The breads and pastries available were sumptuous and tasty. In the dessert section, there was very limited choice, not different from Fresh Choice. Overall, it was a good lunch. I will refrain from rating the place under individual categories given the nature of the place but suffice to say, I will be going there again.

I typically avoid eating at this location, as I find the staff and layout of the restaurant to not be at par with the Coleman location. A big issue is that once you get your tray, you have to maneuver through the other food area to get to a table. Once you are ready to get more food items, you have to go through that area again right next to the registers, forcing you to deal with people who just got their salad trays. A repeated issue with this staff is that they allow food items to get contaminated with other food items (the lemon has cheese on it), and they forget to prepare the croutons or the butter. Last time I didnt even get croutons, because they were being baked. Youd think a salad buffet would have them ready all the time, but not so. Plus this location is always crowded. I try to come in at 3 to avoid the rush, and there are kids everywhere. It can be hard to get staff to take your dirty plates away as well. The restroom is also not kept well, and is too small for the amount of patrons they get. At the end of the day, Sweet Tomatoes, any location is better than most buffet style restaurants in the area. The food is good quality, and they change things up with themed months. This is just not the location of choice for me.

Healthy Alternative to the Typical Buffet Most buffets are a long lines of mediocre gluttony. But Sweet Tomatoes offers a very different perspective on the concept. Each side of the buffet is lined with a near-limitless potential for healthy combinations of organic foods. Even if you decide that a half-pound of Caesar salad will meet your indulgence, its likely better than 30 strips of bacon and 20 oz of mashed potatoes and gravy. The restaurant is rarely in want of patrons, the locals seem to love it. Ive never been to this location on a slow night and have been more than half-a-dozen times. Even the service personnel appear to be happy to serve. My only complaint and the reason for only 4 stars, is my perception of the restaurant as a whole. Ive never felt good either before or after eating at the restaurant. I tend not to finish the salad and then am left with the limited options for other amenities, which in my opinion never quite rival non-buffet food.

Unlimited food for about $10? Sign me up for that. As you walk in the door, you can go through the salad counters and fill up your plate before you pay and then get to the good stuff. They also have a wide variety of options for salad ranging from pre-mixed salads, mushrooms, peppers, beets, sauces, croutons, beans, etc. Once you pay, you can grab a table and then get other food items like soups, breads/pizza, etc. They also have a variety of soups each day and also mac and cheese for all you mac n cheese fans. Once you are done with the main dishes and salads, you also get a variety of desserts to pick from including ice cream, froyo, cakes, etc. Food is pretty decent so worth trying out this place.

Well, this is one of our favorite place. However, last visit required another thought. Started with creating check. Wrong entries. 2 kids and 2 adults dinner with beverages with 25% off was $36. I did calculations, it is $30 + tax. Talked about it did not sort (so paid more). Next was food. Pretty much no vegetarian soup. Also salad varities were empty. Eventually found kids juice was also empty. Wait what? I went for family dinner to have limited choice. Humm. So need to keep kids happy. Ended up eating all junk food. It wasnt worth visit at all (nor money nor time). Sorry sweet tomatoes, you lost entry from my list of "family dinner place".

We had our school fundraiser at this place and the management was a complete dismay. At times, only 1 person at the checkout counter handling two lanes, food was all over the place, tables were not cleaned, and it took more than an hour before someone actually came to our table to pick up the trays. Worst was the sanitation, not enough cleaners. My daughter got food poisoning and was in bed for 5 days after eating here. I called up sweet tomatoes to report the matter and all they could say was we were busy that day! Horrible service & Extremely Poor Management.

Been coming here for mote than a decade the food is great the food cooks and the regular staff is always great. Unfortunately they have a new shift leader. "Marvin" not the greatest person in costummer service we are a family of four and had a coupon for the family and he was giving us a hard time and telling us we are not allowed to share our drinks and even had other people watching us. But we know the staff so they was the one that told us about it. I would like to say we did not like this experience have to think twice on going to this place now.
