I went on a recommendation from a Vietnamese friend and was surprised to see it was CAJUN cuisine when I arrived! The place is run by Vietnamese however and all the staff are very friendly. I went with the waiters suggestion of a pounds of shrimp with corn and sausage, and a portion of rice. The "presentation" is pretty darned novel (to me anyway) The pound of shrimp come out in a large plastic bag with a load of broth. Grab loads of kitchen towels, take your rings and watches off then dig right in! Peel, dip in the lounge sauce that you may freshly squeezed then enjoy...yum yum! Lots of garlic and the spice level is Asian spice levels, ie "hot" is pretty darned hot! Tasty though with lots of garlic in there. I managed to finish my shrimp then ordered a portion of chicken wings too. They were equally as enjoyable, albeit a little too salty! Nice and crispy in the outside, moist and tender on the inside. There were 8 pieces per portion. A very enjoyable experience for me! :-)

The GF and I have been coming here for several years now. The food is great and the staff is very friendly. What concerns us is during the past two visits, the music has been turned up waaaay tooo loud! The staff is very young and they like the loud thumping bass. During both visits we asked the staff to turn down the bass as our table was jumping with each boom. Well, they turned the music down, but said "they could not turn down the bass and that they did not know how." The same thing happened just this past Monday; "we cannot turn down the bass." WTF? Come for the food but be aware, the music can be really annoying. REALLY ANNOYING! It appears that the management does not care about the annoying thumping bass. That is unfortunate.

This place has expensive shrimp. We paid $11.99 per lb for okay tasting shrimp instead of $9.99 per lb for amazing tasting shrimp from Boiling Crab. We also ordered the sweet potato fries, which tasted pretty good when it first came out, but after it quickly cooled down, it was very mediocre. The shrimp came in piping hot sauce where I almost burned my fingers every time I tried to peel it. Not the most pleasant experience and I was more disappointed when the shrimp barely had any flavor. The salt and pepper made the shrimp taste better, but I really missed the Whole Sha-bang flavoring. We didnt get a chance to try the crawfish, but I would steer clear of the shrimp.

Boiling Crab had a 1.5 hour wait... so we came here. Wait was about 30 minutes on a Sunday night. Service was okay - sometimes they were proactive, other times very forgetful. we got a pound of shrimp, pound of crawfish, and 1 dungeness crab. There is a lot of sauce in the bag and they definitely use a LOT of butter. We got the shrimp and crawfish in medium and it got pretty spicy real quick. In terms of quality I think this place is on par with Boiling Crab. In terms of flavor, I slightly prefer Boiling Crab. This place is definitely spicier though.

Best food I had in the last 2 weeks here in Silicon Valley area. So deliciously prepared extremely fresh seafood. Served in not-so-fashionable plastic bag, thats the only minus point. Eating with the hands is a big part of enjoying the meal. Medium spicy can be already quite spicy if youre not used. Lots of local (Vietnam Town) young people crowding the restaurant, some occasional customers (like me) quickly getting acquainted with the purpose of the place: enjoy good seafood. Very good price. Remember to sing in the waiting list when you enter.

The quality of the seafood is exceptional here. Be sure to order the Garlic Butter Shrimp (10.98/lb), Crab (13.98/lb), and Sausage (0.65/piece). Although I enjoyed the crab immensely, it can get expensive and might exceed how much you anticipated to eat in that sitting - the crab we ordered happened to come out to 3 pounds. If you enjoy spicy food, order the above in "medium." The sauce will grow increasingly spicy as you continue to eat.

Excellent food. I tried many Cajun restaurants in the area and that one is the best so far. I sometime even go there by myself when I feel like super duper spicy shrimps! I had a bash with the crawfish. Spicy the way I like it (super hot), not salty, and very fresh. Sauces are killer! The Gumbo might have been a bit too oily but tasted great. Warning for those who cant take spicy: cajun fries come very hot/spicy by default.

If you solely like spicy, this place is great. But if you are looking for an authentic cajun taste, count the distance from California to Louisana, thats how far away Crawdaddy is from real Cajun food. We came from southen state. This restaurant obviously doesnt know cajun food well enough. Its not only spicy that makes it cajun but also the inner taste....

This is one of my favourite spots when Im in San Jose. Always crave for it! Love the shrimp and the crab legs. Cant get enough of them. Great service + Excellent Food = Delightful Experience. Its a relatively small place, so its cozy. Great place to hangout with some friends after work.

I do not like the spice blend they use, does not remind me of cajun, more spicy than cajun. Probably not enough clove, but overall, it was cooked properly. The sausage was decent, but my fried oysters were overcooked in their cornmeal batter. I wont come back again, not worth the value.

I use to come here late before they close and they had great service and they use to give a table for you to seat down. Know by 9:30pm they dont want to do that, they just want to give food for to go. You should change your hours instead of 10pm you should put you close at 9 or 9:30

Ewwwe I think you should be wary when a restaurant serves you crawfish in a plastic bag. It made the food smell like toxins from the plastic (which is unhealthy according to the EHD). And they make you eat off plastic plates and cutlery. Bad. Bad. Bad.

This place is 100% times better boiling crab. I tried boiling crab three times and it was disappointment all three times. Crawdaddy is my go to place when I am craving some delicious Cajun seafood. The staff is nice and personable. I Love Crawdaddy!!

Simple menu of spicy goodness. Cheap beers too. They serve the steamed Cajun foods in a bag of spices and liquid so that the crawfish and crab soak in all that tasty goodness. I wish there was one in Livermore. Cant wait to return.

Reasonably good take on new orleans style crawfish and shrimp boil...great prices, atmosphere and service. Kid friendly. Got medium spicy and it was way too spicy for our group.
