Visited on yesterday evening....customer service is a 5 star rating....food is 0 stars... The clam cowder bowl and fish & chips were my order... Clam cowder was very, very salty...horribly salty...and the crackers served with it were Zesta brand, not actual oyster crackers...the waiter notice I only consumed a small portion and asked about the taste. Once I explained, he removed it from bill - grateful for that... Fish & Chips (fries) was very bland and oily but more so bland...the pieces were fried inconsistently...one of the four pieces was very hard fried....another piece was fried very soft...the two there were a combination of the other two pieces... The French fries were great but a small portion...

Took my wife and granddaughter to Sea Harvest tonight. Small, fish market atmosphere. Pretty busy, but not packed. The chowder was great, and the rest of the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, the waiter was a disappointment. He wasnt rude, he simply didnt care. My wife ate half her meal and wanted to take the rest home. He told her he would put it in a to-go box, then threw it away. When we we getting ready to leave, she asked for it. He said he threw he food away, but he would be happy to write another ticket and put it at the head of the line. We were happy to leave. To be fair, the young man serving the next table over seemed like he really wanted people to enjoy their experience at Sea Harvest.

Ive lived in Monterey for 17 years and was shocked when I went back this summer. This has turned from a good little local shop into a tourist trap. Recommend only for out of towners who dont know anything about seafood. Greasy and fried in cheap oil; bland, play-it-safe seasonings (if any); small pours of horrible no-name wines despite access to dozens of affordable and much better central coast options. The seafood actually tastes like it was frozen despite the fact they sell fresh seafood here. The Sea Harvest in Moss Landing has much higher quality food -- so it is obvious they are cutting corners at this original location. Sad. This place cheapens Monterey.

We have been to this restaurant many, many times. We have always enjoyed our meals. Today was no exception. The only blemish on todays visit was our waitress getting my meal confused. Just as I got up to remind her I ordered the combo, not straight fish and chips, she realized her error. She was very apologetic and pleasant. How could i get angry with her. She had a nice smile. And handled all tables pretty much on her own. My wife ordered the grilled tilapia. It looked fantastic. She said it tasted as good as it looked. Think Ill order that next time. Prices are reasonable. Plates are generous. Try it. Better than most in Monterey.

Went on a Thursday night and had an hour+ wait. Wanted to leave several times, but waited it out...so glad we did! I had the Grenadier fresh catch over a Caesar. Incredible. Perfectly cooked and simply seasoned. Husband had the Halibut over a Caesar. Also perfectly cooked and seasoned. Kids had fish and chips and prawn and chips and enjoyed both. Too heavy for me, but they were happy. Ask the guy behind the counter about what was caught fresh that day. Very knowledgeable. Will definitely go back when back in the area.

Skip the Fish Hopper and eat here! This unpretentious seafood market / restaurant is my favorite place in Carmel / Monterey (prefer the monterey location tho). For travelers, the daily fresh fish selections are perfect for beachside bbqs, or takeaway some chowder. Otherwise, the atmosphere and service at both locations are uber-casual, and delicious. Great place for familes, or a mellow date. Decent wine selection too. my only complaint is they need a big raw bar like A.W. Shucks in Carmel.

Whether the fish is fresh or frozen, as another person wrote, it is still delicious, the service was good, quick and attentive. We both had the fish & chips and it was very good and also reasonably priced. Crispy outside, moist & flaky inside. A truly great find in an area we expected to have lousy food because its a tourist trap. Actually. Im giving it an extra star because it WAS so good in an area I expected to be given mediocre food and indifferent service at outrageous prices.

This restaurant is not a fast food place or some expensive trap for tourists. It is a very cozy and comfortable place to take a rest, eat some seafood, make conversation. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. They have a great choice in a menu with very affordable prices. Location is also great, it is not far from seafront and easy to find. The portions are very big, so if you are on diet, think about taking one serving for two persons. The must visit place in Monterey.

Upon entering youre greeted by a shelf full of an assortment of bottled sauces, and then.. a counter full of raw seafood on display. This place DOES NOT look like youre typical dining establishment.. well, because its not! This is probably the only place in the area that you can get cheap, fresh and delicious seafood! The scallops were only sautéed with lemon salt, pepper and butter but holy cow, my mouth was having an orgasm. Will definitely come back whenever Im in Monterey

Menu items are all previously frozen and shipped from Canada. Had to ask about fresh fish, which was twice the price of the menu options. I ended up getting fish and coleslaw because the server seemed annoyed by my questions about where the seafood came from. The fish was tasty, but not fresh or local, and the coleslaw didnt seem homemade. I was disappointed, to say the least. My niece had combination and chips - the french fries were good. Would not recommend.

some of the best seafood Ive ever had, compliments to the chef. we arrived just after they opened and unfortunately we had to wait another 30 minutes or so because the days catch was not yet prepared. it was WORTH IT! the four of us each had something different and we HAD to share! cajun mahi mahi, ocean perch, crab cakes, and clam chowder was our order. recommended by 3 different people as we were walking through town...

The seafood pasta was glorious. I thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly cooked scallops, tender salmon and delicious prawns. The wait staff were attentive, friendly and the dining are was well cleaned. The chowder was thick and lovely with clams in every bite. I highly recommend this restaurant as a dining experience. The only issue I had was that the bathrooms are outside, and a tad dirty. Everything else was perfect.

I would give 0 stars if I could. We came as a party of 6 and I guess they "rejected" us by lying. We were told that there was a party of 16 at 4 pm that day, when it was clearly 6pm already. I then found out that they dont even take reservations, and its a first come first serve basis. Not sure why it happened but this experience has made me extremely upset. Hope it doesnt happen to anybody else.

We try to get to this place anytime we are in Monterey. The seafood is the freshest around and the place is casual and clean. You can buy fish at the counter to take home and cook or you can dine in the restaurant. Dont wait too late because they close at 8:00 PM. I wished they stayed open later but I guess they have to go home sometime. Nice selection of beer and wine too.
