Did this place sell or change management? I have a real problem with a place I used to live literally down the street from, on the "Garden" spending lots of dedicated time and money and proudly promoting it to all I know.....but this weekend past we walk in and instantly something does not feel right. The faces, nobody Ive ever seen. Food tasted like a refrigerator and when a "manager says to me, weve served 100!s, no ones complained.....?? Really? Your kidding, right?! GRANTED she does not know Im 37 years in FOOD SERVICE BUSINESS where ive done it all. Dishes, bus, serve, Manage, Owner, BAR MANAGER, RESTAURANT OWNER, BAKER, CAKE DECORATOR, F&B DIRECTOR, FOOD SERVICE MANAGER/TRAINER, COUNTRY CLUB TRAINED, Hi-END RESORT/HOTEL/CASINO TRAINED, DIVERSIFIED RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT TRAINED, 40yrs of proven hands on experience, so i kinda dont complain unless its that bad and it was. When a guest has a problem, servers should have the power to do fixes so that an encounter with a clueless manager who makes guest feel as though they are lying can be avoided, period! Gonna be a while before i go back to my old home away home on the River.

First of all, its a really nice venue. I had a coke and my dad had a beer, which were refilled twice and once the entire time, respectively. Despite being empty most of the time. But we moved on to the "prawns" which were pretty good, large shrimp. But not prawns. We split a tri tip and the sturgeon. The tri tip was dry and the sturgeon was raw and had to be taken back. The vegetables were very poor quality, and the garlic mashed potatoes had no flavor. We thought we could redeem it with some lemon meringue pie, but it turned out to be lemon jello with mediocre meringue on top. Given all of that, it would not have been so bad if our waitress was not utterly neglectful. On the rare occasion she came by our table, she never stopped walking and didnt wait on our answer. She left in the middle of our questions without giving an answer, and received a generous 3% tip just because it rounded the bill up to $80.00 which was entirely too much. I had high hopes, but was disappointed. It might not be a terrible choice, but thats what I went through, and Im just letting you know it might happen to you too.

Had the worst customer service ever, waiter came over to my friend and said that I had to leave the restaurant because I need to put a shirt on I had on a work out top on with some biking shorts It wasnt a swim suit. so I decided to leave and go back to the dock and as i was leaving I noticed there were a couple of women sitting at the bar with swimsuit tops on. I still proceeded to leave to the restaurant. my friends decided to say something to the manager, what about the other women had on swim tops and no shirt well the manager decide to tell us that they could serve us downstairs by this time we are shocked and piss this is racial we are black and they ate white that was so unfair and very disrespectful. we realize some people from our group had ordered food they decided to give their money back and apologize to them . but they one they ask to leave was me with no apology . We will be back to address the owner about his staff misconduct.

Went at about 2ish in the afternoon on Sunday July 2. Crazy crowded! They stopped and started the line to get in. An offer of water would have been nice as there is no shade while in line. The lady working the door thanked us for coming and explained about the slow line which I appreciated. I didnt pay a cover (since I had come for the tacos) and stayed on the upper patio. I certainly could hear the music so that was great. Maybe more staff is needed because I only saw 1 waitperson working and that didnt seem to be enough for that area. Long waits for forgotten items that should have come with the food and drinks. Music was good and as always a dog and family friendly environment.....THIS REVIEW IS FOR SWABBIES, not Virgin Sturgeon.!!oops!!

I always Stop by once for Sunday brunch while in town for business. (from Scottsdale, AZ) I LOVE the trout and Eggs for a brunch. Been going there for at least 15 years. Never have had a BAD meal, but like any place sometimes, some are better than others. BUT Staff, many who have there for years bend over backwards. I like the "the STOP by the side of the road" feel. In this case the RIVER. But, If you walk with your nose above your eye level,... maybe not for you. I think its just a great little unique venue. Which is, A bar and and Restaurant on a floating moored Barge,along the Sacramento River.

Visited for a late afternoon lunch on Friday. Not too busy and enjoyed the chill view of the river. The sturgeon was delicious and portions were good. The only inconvenience was a long delay waiting for our order to be taken (waitress said was occupied figuring out a complicated bill split for another table) and being served our food with any silverware then needing to track down the staff to begin eating. Overall, still enjoyed the meal and would give it another go.

4pm on a scorching hot Friday; seated ourselves at an air-conditioned table in the main dining room overlooking the river! Didnt catch our servers name, but she was the bomb--super friendly, very attentive, knew the menu well. Burgers were wonderful--tasty, juicy, NOT overdone, and topped with FRESH lightly sautéed mushrooms and red ripe tomatoes; side salad was surprisingly fresh and trendy. $10/each plus tip (no drinks, just ice water). Ill be back...

I ordered the Chicken Cordon Blu with crab from the dinner menu and my guest ordered the scallops with shrimp. The chicken was dry and the crab tasted like it was from a can, without flavor. The scallops were raw, totally uncooked. I would nor recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys good food. I understand this restaurant caters to boaters on the river and spider webs and flies are part of the ambiance. Not for me... Good Luck...

Service was really bad. We sat at the bar hoping to engage in a conversation with the server and they couldnt be bothered to engage. They offered the very minimum to serve us. Disappointing because the location seemed to offer higher expectations being that larger competitive restaurants are in the area people often choose local places with better local service. Unfortunately, Virgin Sturgeon was not the best choice this time.

Could have been more friendly.... we came up from our boat and started to sit at a table that had not been cleaned off from the previous customers and the guy was rather abrupt telling us to not sit at a dirty table because other people were waiting we got his point and moved along but he could have been more friendly and professional the 4 of us ended up spending a good amount of money there

Decent fish, but extremely limited menu. For a seafood place, they only offered sturgeon, salmon, shrimp, and clams (when available). The walk down to the door is no joke; that is a steep incline down a jetbridge. Ceviche was bland, catfish was too spicy; ambiance was so-so. Nice view of the river but the decor is kind of worn out faux wood. Definitely a pass.
