This place is absolutely fine, nothing exciting. Came here on a Saturday evening for a friends going away party. We didnt have any space reserved but the place was absolutely empty at 5:30pm so we grabbed a big table near the bar. We all had a bunch of drinks and some shared food: Spicy cucumber cocktail - 3 stars. Properly spicy, which is often a problem. I was actually VERY satisfied with the spice here. The rest of it was slightly off though... the basil tasted slightly off, a little soapy or syrupy as opposed to fresh, and I didnt pick up the cucumber flavors. Fine for one but I didnt order another. House mezcal - 3 stars. A bit smoky and complemented by the orange slice it was served with, but this tasted like the equivalent of well-tequila. A purist drink but not one you actually wanted pure. Mezcalisco - 4 stars. This was the sweet spot. Some mezcal, some tequila, good smoke but not too harsh. No sweetness, solid enough to sip on all night. Tableside guacamole - 2 stars. Too much stuff, nearly no avocado. I appreciated the spice given we asked for it spicy, but the onion, avocado, cilantro, and tomato were too much for the avocado. I like my guac with chunks of avocado and nods to the other ingredients, not the other way around. Quesadilla de rajas - 4 stars. Solid quesadilla. Large portion, soft flour tortilla, buttery and crispy at the edges, full of gooey cheese and some peppers/onions. Not necessarily your most authentic Mexican dish but simple and well executed. What can elevate a place with perfectly boring food is fantastic service. Unfortunately, that wasnt the case here. I often had to order multiple times as the server would forget the order or would assume another server had grabbed it when, in fact, they hadnt. This got frustrating after awhile, despite how polite the servers were. Overall, this was a fine choice for a going away party, though not somewhere Id frequent on my own.

I would give them less than half a star if it was possible. I went there today with a group of friends. We were 8 in total. We got there at around 2.50 PM. The receptionist was almost put off by the fact we showed up. Was he not prepared for a group of 8? Horrible welcome to begin with. Our server took a good 10 minutes to bring us the menu and ask for our drinks. Then we told him we had to be somewhere else by 4 PM, and asked: will our food be ready? He said: yes! I can tell the kitchen you are in a rush! Well, food took almost the whole hour! All we got was our drinks and never got the food! We had to keep calling multiple servers to take our order. We were nice to still take it to go since we ran out of time. We got our bags and just in case, one of my friends asks to check the bag to make sure everything in it and guess what, we were missing an order of tacos de res after the server said WE HAD EVERYTHING! Wait another 5 mins for that order. We spent $225+ in our order and definitely their service was horrendous, slow, disrespectful for the customers, etc. DEFINITELY NEVER, EVER, COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE! WE ARE NOT LOCALS, BUT STILL WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE IN THE AREA. ROSA MEXICANO, YOU SHOULD LEARN HOW TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS AND GET BETTER AT YOUR SERVICE, OTHERWISE SHUT DOWN YOUR DOORS!

Restaurant Week in San Francisco - $25 for a 3 course menu in an upscale Mexican restaurant, sounds like a deal, huh? Before you get in there you should probably erase everything you know about Mexican food, at least if your memory is made of Mission-like burritos or Southern Californian tacos. This place in the Financial District aims at people with a high six figure income, how else would you explain that a taco is $18 on their menu? Just wow. If you earn minimum wage thats one and a half hour for one taco. That being said, I was happy to get the $25 deal! My tastebuds were satisfied with the WHITE CORN SOUP (when it came out it had cooled down a little too much though), the MARINATED PACIFIC COD (steamy hot, soft and tender on the inside) and the CHEESECAKE for dessert (with sweet apple pieces in the middle). The restaurant was almost empty at lunch time on a Sunday but service was sloooow. Maybe they wanted us to fully enjoy the spacious and beautiful inside of the restaurant.

Came here for last minute Happy Hour with a co-worker. It was such a nice night in the city we were able to sit outside with out jackets. Their HH goes until 7 and has a relatively decent priced HH menu. ($6 small plates and $6-$7 HH drinks). Its new so everything is still shiny and clean, and will probably stay that way as it is drawing the higher end restaurant/bar/lounge crowd. It feels quite spacious too. We ordered the Pork Belly Tacos (2 for $6) and the Quesa, with chorizo. Both were really good, but we really got us were the drinks. I had the HH 1800 Margarita, and it was strong and delicious. My coworker got the white sangria, and it was honestly one of the best Sangrias Ive had, probably the best thing on the HH menu.

This rating is for their happy hour. I came here twice with coworkers within the same month. I really liked the fish tacos, and we really loved the sangria. I thought their guacamole was satisfactory... I prefer my guacamole with a lot of lime in it. Otherwise, happy hour prices are decent and its a good place to forget the day. The happy hour area is separate from the dining area. Youll know which side is which because the happy hour area is intensely crowded, whereas the dining area is nearly empty. Seating is first come, first serve, so best to get there as soon as you get off from work.

Nice location not far from the Embarcadero, great when it is warm and you can sit outside. Always seems popular and has an early crowd enjoying beverages and such. I like the food and they claim to have more "authentic" food although Ive never been to Mexico to judge that accurately. However everything Ive eaten there was very tasty. My only complaint is for the price the portions are small - or I guess for the portion sizes the prices are high. Im not sure if they have any kind of happy hour specials or it is cheaper at lunch time but that might be a good way to get satisfaction for less $.

Sucks ass. I went with my friends here during New years eve, the server was pissed at us when we tried to inquire about the menu choice. Even I was being so graceful.. I told him that we need 5 mins to make up our mind on the menu. He didnt come to our table at all. We told the manager on the situation, and still our server ignored us after he had a glimpse at our table. As our patience were tested after 20mins, we abruptly left the establishment. What a rude server!! You think the food would automagically ordered itself? Rosa mexicano?? More like Balls mexicano

High end chain restaurant falls short. The guac made them famous. Why? Because its simple, fresh, and made on the spot. That doesnt carry over to anything else. The chips can be stale. The cocktails use mixes and sugars instead of fresh ingredients. The salads - leafy greens thats a supermarket wouldnt sell you are typical. This place has 2 options: freshen up the ingredients or stick to guac and beer (which is fresher than the cocktails). Looking at the reviews, lots of stars for the Happy Hour; Im reviewing the actual restaurant no a discounted bar menu.
