When we came here, we were exhausted and starving after moving into the neighborhood. The place was full, but luckily there was one table for two open, and we were seated immediately. Before any good arrived, we had the customary salad and miso soup. The miso was pretty standard, but the salad had a really tasty dressing and sunflower seeds to give it a nice crunch! We ordered the yakitori appetizer, which is a mix of grilled chicken and veggies - very good! Then both of us got bento box #1. It came with chicken teriyaki, assorted tempura, something I now cannot remember (this is why you take pictures!), sashimi, and half an orange for dessert. Plus rice, of course. Everything was very good, but *especially* the sashimi. We had a few pieces of salmon and tuna, and it was just incredible. Basically buttery, melt-in-your-mouth fresh. The service here was great. The prices are awesome! We had a great time, and I think this is going to become a new staple for us.

My wife have visited this restaurant for many years. Our visit yesterday, Saturday noon was the worst experwnce we have had. The service was good, but the sushi rolls (4 rolls) were the worst I have ever had at this restaurant. The Omega-3 roll just fell apart, Catepillar roll, California roll and another fancy roll were ordered. The fish was not fresh, the texture of the rice was wrong and the taste was below average. We were totally dissatisfied with the food. We realized that this establishment has changed ownership a few times and the chefs has changed. Spending over $80.00 for inferior food. Fuji use to be above average and now we will visit a few other sushi restaurants that are better. Ive been eating sushi for over 30 years from coast to coast.

The food was fine, but nothing really excited me. The roll we had was okay, but the ton katsu was a little on the dry side. The service was quick, friendly, and they were very good about refilling waters and teas. Thats always a +1 for me. The place is moderately sized with perhaps a dozen seats available around the sushi bar. I came here with a group of 6 and we were able to get seated immediately. The restaurant is a clean neighborhood restaurant. Parking in the West Portal area is metered so keep that in mind when heading out here.

Lots of room, not that busy usually, sushi rolls LOOK amazing but taste sub par, service was quick and friendly. The Lion King, my favorite type of sushi roll, doesnt even come close to making the cut. The other signature rolls offered are big (kinda hard to eat too big), rice is cold and kinda gamey/chewey. All the rolls always just fall apart too. Given this place a couple tries, but alas, sometimes the sushi down the street isnt the best to go to :-( Also no free refills on diet coke?! Its by the can! Aw cmon!

The volcano is the best! Its a good, casual sushi spot in West Portal. Specialty sushi rolls are good and there are a lot of options, which may not be such a good thing all the time. Sometimes the rolls are inconsistent, so maybe its due to the numerous rolls on the menu, or just an off night. Still good, and I keep coming back. Can be chilly if you are seated by the door - huge draft when anyone comes in.

The best sashimi in San Francisco! Yes I know thats a big call, but its true. Every couple of weeks we drive to West Portal only to visit Fuji and eat the Sashimi. The side salad has an incredible green dressing. I would buy bottles of it. Great value for money. Staff are not intrusive. If you love Japanese food, you must try this place!

Best Japanese in SF. I lived 2 years in Japan and than East Asia and since then was missing good sashimi. This place is God given. Sashimi was fresh, tasty, melting in your mouth, terayaki and other gourmet meals. Atmosphere great, nice place for lunch or dinner, stuff very polite and helpful. Now I am coming every week here :)

This place is always busy at dinner time, so usually if you come at peak time, theres a bit of a wait. They have 3 chairs for waiting or you have to stand outside. Not the best service but I like this sushi here a bit more. I also like the seafood tempura mix. If you dont want to deal with the wait, call for take out.

The food is good, but a bit expensive for my taste. I go here with my family since we only live a block or two away. Metered parking in the front of the restaurant and 2 hr parking in the neighborhood. They have ramen, donburi, udon, sushi, and sashimi specials.

If you like ugly green Formica, bright lights and service as cold as the raw fish this is the place for you. We walked out after being informed that it was exclusive. The place was empty on a Friday night and there was another couple who walked out after us.

Fantastic food, service and value (not cheap, but great portions with thick sashimi cuts, brought us extra salad and soup gratas when we split an entree, etc). Our server, Shannon, was awesome... totally accommodating to special requests. Come here!

Great food, but poor wait service. My glass of water was empty for 19 minutes (and in plain sight). It probably would have been longer, but the other waitress finally asked if I needed anything.

Good place for sushi. You can also order bento box dinners and donburi here. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. However, prices are a bit high and the tables are a bit too cramped together.
