Freewheel has a great selection of English-style beers. Im a big fan of the Ironbridge Wenlock Stout. Some of the less common (in the US) styles are definitely worth a try, such as the London Calling Bitter and the FSB (Freewheel Special Bitter). Contrary to the name, "bitter" beers like these are not actually bitter, they are actually in the style of pale ales. I havent tried many of the food options, but I do know their pretzels are awesome! They often have live music. You can sit out front and enjoy the evening with a good brew and some live music. Its hard to beat!

FreeWheel is awesome. If youre a fan of cask conditioned real ale in the British style you cant do much better in the area. This is seriously some of the best craft beer Ive had in the bay area. The atmosphere is kind of strange as its just a storefront in a strip mall, but the brewhouse is on site which is nice and lends a certain authenticity to the place. We stopped in for a light lunch and just had a few appetizers and were not disappointed. Well definitely be going back for dinner and drinks in the future.

2014.06.18: we went here because my friend was playing an acoustic set on the guitar. The food was better than you would expect for this kind of place: the cheese burger was good, and the veggie burger was excellent! The fennel and arugula salad was ok, and did not have much fennel and had too much blue cheese. Both ears were great, we had the stout and the london calling, the latter is described as bitter on their chalkboard, but as the bartender told me, its not bitter at all. And my friend made great music!

Great place to grab a bite to eat. Fun, easy going atmosphere. Free music outside the restaurant on Thursday evenings in the summer time. Enjoyed some live jazz music tonight. Food is pretty good. Im gluten and grain free. I had the spring salad added chicken and it was delicious; Light but filling! My bff had the black bean veggie burger and she was amazed at how delicious and savory it was. Lots of options for foodies! Check it out.. heard the beer here is good too. Sorry, no gluten free beers here :(

Ordered the fish and chips. The fish was overly battered and had a weird taste. The fries were not that good. The bar itself is packed as it is the closest to the office nearby so most of the staff from the business go here. An after work meetup/drink here will require one to get in before 5 or 6 on Thursday and Friday. The other weekdays are might be less busy.

Best bitter in the Bay Area, and chances are probably in the state. This is real British bitter .. no need to pay the air fare. ..or rent a car to get to Much Wenlock :). Great to taste nicely balanced skilled brewing instead of just IBUs trendily crammed into a pint. "Wood beam" atmosphere would be nice but the beer is what matters here.

Had a few pints with my wifes cousin. Really great beer. Funny that my wifes cousin visiting us from London and we had some great London style beers. We just had some fries for appetizers, definitely a place worth coming back to visit. I dont live too far away. so you might catch me there. Also buy a beer for a friend. check out the board.

I enjoyed my first visit to Freewheel. The bartender was nice and very knowledgeable about their beer offerings. I ended up with the London Calling, which was tasty. Also had the pulled pork with chips (fries, for us mericans). The only downside was it was very warm in there. Over 80 degrees. Please guys, get the A/C going in there!

Great service and great food! Their potato bacon soup of the day was delicious! They also catered to my wifes gluten and casein allergy which made us feel very taken care of. Pulled pork is cooked for 15 hours and is amazing! Definitely will be going back here.

With 5 Beer Engines this place takes Cask beer seriously. They are contract brewing (kinda) some great English beers. 4 guest taps that had Magnolia beer when I was here. The food menu looks gastro pub like. Though the kitchen closes between lunch & dinner.

Great beer. The food looks simple yet well made. But I have a problem with the bar tender eating lunch behind the bar. Nothing is grosser than someone eating a sandwich and then pouring your beer without washing their hands.

I typically dont like cask conditioned ales, but their stout has enough mouth and flavor to get away with the method. The pear salad was also satisfying. Its a pleasant place to stop and pass some time.

Decent space with live music and an open mic night. Only had time to try their stout. A little on the dry and bitter side for me. Will just have to go back and try one of the other 5 casks they have!

Fantastic brewery and a great atmosphere. I make it a point to go (usually multiple times) every time Im in the area. London Calling is fantastic but their Big V Amber is my favorite, hands down!

Came here with a group of friends. You order at the counter and take a number to your seat. Unfortunately, we all ended up getting our food delivered at different times.

I really, really wish I liked these guys better. The beer is eclipsed by places like Refuge, the food is a bit generic. I do like sitting outside when theres a band.
