I have been searching for BBQ like this forever! Just imagine walking through the front door into an airy smokehouse/mountain dream cabin feel. The waft of smokey deliciousness hits your nostrils instantly, while your eyeballs take Im the scenery. The staff was knowledgeable and ready to make your every desire come true. I ordered the Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich, cause lets be honest, if you pulled pork sucks, then nothing else matters. I have to be honest I wasnt expecting much, but when that sandwich came piled high with the most moist, tender and perfectly BBQd Pork you have EVER tasted, well I could have died right there and then. It was that doggone good. And just as a cherry on top of our perfect service, more than perfect food, and delicious out of a bucket of ice cream soda...The General manager stopped over to visit with us. She instantly felt like an old friend. This place really cares about your experience. Give yourself a treat.

Good atmosphere, clean establishment, decent music, great service but when it comes to bbq it all comes down to the food or lack thereof in this case. I will baseline the rest of this by saying that I am a self proclaimed "foodie" and my baseline for BBQ restaurants is 4 Rivers Smokehouse (Orlando Florida area - best BBQ imo). Additionally I have had BBQ all over the nation including the bbq mecca, Kansas (a la: Jack Stacks and the likes). What this place was missing was flavor and consistency. My choice was the beef brisket sandwich. The brisket was dry, although fatty (generally the fattiness to the meat holds flavor and juice however that was not the case for this place). The bbq sauces provided on the table were used to drench the sandwich to give it the slightest bit of flavor which then took a way from the meat. All in all I would not recommend this place for bbq dinning experience - look for another restaurant.

Like most people in the area we watched the place being built and decided we would give it a go when it opened for business. It certainly has a stadium feel about it inside, kind of industrial friendly. The staff seemed courteous though in a non corporate way.You order and pay in advance for your meal at the front desk as you enter and then buy your drinks at the bar.My wife ordered a pulled pork burger and I chose the smokehouse burger. Both came with a choice of sides. Our meals arrived at our location out on the viewing deck/bar pretty promptly.I thought it was great that the bar had Green Flash IPA on tap.We thoroughly enjoyed our burgers and had a nice chat with some other diners while enjoying the convivial atmosphere. All in all it was a simple and enjoyable experience without the corporate or fast food distractions.Well try here again one day.

1:00pm: arrived at Brazen BBQ after hearing the wait for Snooze was over an hour, that being my GFs first choice--it always is. A very friendly server quickly set upon us and brought water and a beer, .394 Alesmith, and took our orders; a Big Ass Burger for me at $15.99, pulled pork for the lady at $11.99. 1:05pm: We are waiting for our meals. The beer is fine. The restaurant is clean and seems well ordered. There is what appears to be a full service bar (it is). 1:19pm: Still waiting for the food. Conversation has been great. 1:30pm: Food arrives. 1:43pm: As other reviews indicated the food was surprisingly dry and lacking flavor and moisture. The price wasnt very bad at all with the total coming to $42.00 including a $5.00 tip. I wouldnt recommend this place unless you are bored and in the area.

This is by far my (new) favorite BBQ place in San Diego. This is the only BBQ place for me in San Diego from now on. Im really into BBQ. I have a Green Egg BBQ at home andI can get it smokey but not that moist and fall off the bone. Magic. Phils has the same texture but the flavor of the meat here is much better; very smokey with a real nice smoke ring. Ive had the brisket, ribs, and pulled chicken. The first two were awesome and most of the time I find brisket nothing to write home about. They were both moist and smokey. The ribs really are large. I cant say I cared that much for the pulled chicken but frankly I tried it on a lark. I dont normally order pulled chicken.

Great flavor in the BBQ meats. I had ordered the lunch special (half sammie with a side, which I chose the soup). The sammie was perfect. The soup was unexpectedly spicy, which Im not complaining about, because it was actually the saving grace of the dish. The soup itself was flavorless without the spice, and was pretty clear (like maybe just hot water and no broth). Also, it was a vegetable soup...which appeared to have been made with very little vegetables, and the ones that were included were the frozen mix vegetables from appearance. I may be wrong, but I could not tell the difference. I just know now that if I go there again...dont get the soup.

My husband and I were greeted at the door by friendly staff on our first visit - which was super helpful because the menus are on the walls and you order before you sit down. We ordered a variety of meats and the brisket was by far the best. It was tender, flavorful, ... simply excellent. Its been months since our first visit so whenever were in the mood for BBQ - that brisket keeps us going back! I rate the food overall as a two because the side dishes arent what we go there for.

Smoke Dog BBQ! Ive been here a few times and every time gets better. I think I may just be getting a better appreciation for BBQ! My kids and the BF love it too so win win! Smokehouse Nachos are delicious! Ive had the chicken and the brisket.. It was delicious. The sides Ive tried are great. The atmosphere is fun, and the drinks are yummy. My son had the meatloaf and fell in love... Of course we will be back, that is a given.

I am glad Brazen BBQ participated in Taste of Hillcrest 2013 or I never would have known this place existed. We were attracted by the intoxicating BBQ Aroma which piqued our interest and taste buds a half a block away. Brazen offered a rather generous sampling of their pulled pork piled atop crunchy won tons - delicious and we will absolutely go back for lunch or dinner sometime soon!

We were craving BBQ and tried to head over to one place that was packed out the door, do we quickly looked up on google and found this higly rated not too far away and we were glad. It was a homey atmosphere and amazing food. We were near the bar so the bar tender waited on us and he gave great recommendations and helped with anything we needed. Well definitely we going there again.

Wanted to like this place, but our visit was a bit rough. Tough to find parking, but okay, not their fault. Atmosphere inside was just alright. We visited on a Saturday night- maybe 1/4 of the tables occupied. Service was remarkably slow for how busy it was. Waited 30+ minutes for our food, which was room temp when we received it. Ribs were good, all the rest just meh.
