Arrived with a large group from the Sacramento Bike Hikers on Oct 1. We have eaten there before and it was always a good experience. This time it was truly awful. We had a large group and one waitress. Orders were confused. Two of us (my friend Phyllis and I) asked 3 times where our food was. It never came. Orders were mixed up with the rest of the group. Another person never got their food. We were going to do a long ride but the three of us left and headed back to the start where we would eventually get something to eat. What amazed me was the folks had the gall to put a 20% tip on everybodys food (after taxes). I dont mind tipping, but tipping is contingent on good service. The service was screwed up. Wrong orders, wrong people and three of us did not get to eat. They did comp the coffee for the three of us but hardly got an apology. I think Black Bear Diner will be dropped rom as one of our regular stops. We tip good service, we are offended by people demanding high tips for lousy service.

Pros: Food was good but barely any meat, keep drinks full, they dont forget your choice in condiments and deliver it before the food. Cons: You are frivolus in their eyes. The Black Bear Diner is known for giving plenty of food to their customers in Goodyear, AZ. I ordered a 1/3 lb burger, was roughly 60% bread to the sandwich; had to find the burger. After a mention they dont fix the problem before you start eating it, they rush you and harass you still desperate for a good tip, even if you are trying to relax. A seperate earlier visit I asked to be seated where I can clear my thoughts and call home 1500+ miles away. They sat me in a booth next to 3 kids and a howling mother instead of the handful of empty tables on the othe sode of that section of tables. They arent concerned about customers at many angles compaired to their other locations. They have to lie less to impress, and be better at serving. They need an unputurbed environment. Next time I come through Ill edit my review.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! October 2010 A friend took me to this new diner last week. WOW! I was like a kid at an amusement park! First of all there are these great bear wood carvings outside the place! Entering in I was amazed at the wonderful wood seats at the counter and bear pictures on the walls. I felt like I was in the forest at a very cool lodge! Our waitress was great. We were served coffee in huge mugs with a Black Bear on the mug. Our breakfast was great and my biscuit was as huge as "Mimis" muffins. Even the napkins had a Bear Paw on them! I cannot wait to take my Granddaughter there. If you want a very wonderful experience just "Go there", you will not be disappointed..Total family orientated diner. Now I am "Beary hungry" Rheta D. born in Alaska and LOVE those bears!

It was great. My father is a chef and we went to get lunch here for the first time. The prices were very low so we were astonished when we saw how big the portion sizes were. Most meals are far above average and size is not a trade off for taste. It was still very satisfying. There was more starches than one wouldve expected and very few vegetarian options for myself but overall it was great. At the least I would like to see more variety in the drinks. (They had no almond, soy, or vanilla milks only cow) They also only had tap water which was upsetting. But there eggs were great and all foods were well seasoned.

I have just moved into the area, I will be starting a job soon, but for a few days will be at a hotel across from the restaurant. This is a great place to eat. Very friendly, you will have at least 2 or 3 people making sure everything is tasting good. The food is GREAT! The portions are HUGE! I have eaten here 3 times already, everyday since Ive been here and I still cant eat everything on my plate. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. This is is must go to eat place. If it be just passing by or if you live in the area, this place will fill you up!

Hair in my sandwich but the food here was excellent. I ordered a turkey ham & bacon club sandwich. I ate half, then decided not to have anymore bread and began to just eat the toppings from the inside when I found hair wrapped around the bacon. Yuck! The staff was genuinely embarrassed and comped my meal immediately. At least 5 people, including the manager, came and made sure I didnt want anything else. They handled this very well. It could happen anywhere and I dont hold a grudge and will be back. Thanks Black Bear.

I had the best experience eating at Black Bear Diner on West El Camino in Sacramento,Ca the food was amazing and couldnt have asked for a better atmosphere, our server was Alfonso and he gave the greatest service with a smile and very professional and most restaurants dont offer that, and we will definitely be coming back for more great food and friendly staff and I am gonna tell my family and friends about it so that they will get the same experience that I had.

*Sigh* What can I say about Black Bear Diner... The pancakes are delicious but the country potatoes need to be cooked a little longer. Our favorite meal is "The Grizz", with pancakes. The coffee shouldnt be called "coffee" at all, more like coffee flavored tea. The overall service is cool, and prices fair, but they arent giving Dennys and IHOP a run for their money thats for sure.

Always a sure bet when your in the area, Black Bear Diner has a great variety of dishes all very good. We have eaten there several times when passing through as my husband is a truck driver. Today we stopped for breakfast and I was greeted by Alex who took great care of me, her supreme service with a fabulous attitude makes her a Gem of an employee...keep smiling kiddo Jilybean

Good, not great. Reminds me of a themed I HOP, in that you can order from breakfast, lunch, or dinner menu at any time while being surrounded by bears and timber. Waitress was super sweet. They do have a limited selection of bottled beer and great desserts. Dont let location between the burger king and super8 motel scare you off. Very reasonable prices and HUGE portions.

I ordered a BLT, the most basic culinary staple in America and what did I get? The saddest looking sandwich Ive ever seen! There were only 3 baby strips of overcooked bacon, thin soggy tomato, and lettuce. This place used to be a go to spot, but the last year or so the food has been terrible. Dont waste your money, go to burger king next door its probably better.

Went for Brunch, and had their "Blazin Bear Sandwich". Good portions for the price. Had 7 in our group, seated right away, after ordering I felt the wait was a little much but then again we had 7. Food tasted good, no complaints from anyone at our table. The restrooms and tables were clean. Theres a lot to look at on the walls. Id return.
