Stopped in around 7 pm Satuday eve and the restaurant was near empty with only four customers dining. My friend ordered the regular Angus burger cooked medium well and I ordered the sausage pizzetta. The burger was delivered quickly but was cooked somewhere between rare and medium rare. My dinner pizza arrived nearly 20 minutes later. By this time my friend was halfway through her meal. The pizza had good flavor and the outside crust was light and crispy, however the interior two thirds of the round were so soggy that it could not be picked up off the plate and it required a fork to eat. The bottom crust was so thin it dissolved into the toppings. Prior to leaving we purchased two chocolate cupcakes to go. These cakes looked decadent but were so dry that you had to have a beverage in order to swallow them down. I have no idea how long they had been in the pastry case but several days is probably accurate. The customer service was equally poor. The person who took my order failed to deliver my beverage as he said he would; the wait staff that delivered my friends burger thought I wasnt eating and when I told her I was waiting for the pizza and beverage, she brought my beverage and 20 mins later attempted to deliver my pizza to a lone customer sitting outside before coming to our table to ask if I had ordered a pizza... Really?! It was bad enough that the kitchen crew couldnt time the two entrees to be delivered together to begin with. At no time after our food had been delivered were we contacted to see if we were satisfied with our meal or if we needed anything else. While there were a few walk-ins during our visit that placed to go orders, there were no other sit down diners. This location has high foot traffic and on this day, the Crest Theater was hosting the annual French Film Festival around the corner. Other restaurants were packed and upon checking, had 20 to 30 minute waits for a table, but Cafe Bernardino was empty. I think I found out why.

I really enjoy going to Café Bernardo for breakfast. The parking situation has gotten easier since the Sutter Community Parking Garage has opened to the public. The prices are really good for the quality youre getting. My favorite breakfast dishes are the French toast and Eggs Bernardo (Eggs Benedict). The hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Bernardo is awesome, I like it best with ham but it all served on top of really good rosemary sourdough bread. The French toast is the biggest plate of French toast I have ever had and also one of the best. My husband doesn’t love breakfast food like I do but he really likes Bernardo’s breakfast sandwich, and their breakfast burrito. We both love the chuck burger we get it on the rare side with blue cheese added and it is heavenly. They also have a really good Thai noodle salad. A small order of the Thai noodle salad fills me up. They have a lot of great salads, sandwiches, and pizzas which change seasonally. I tried a lot of them but not all yet. I really recommend the Chipotle Potato Soup. They change the soup daily but I try to get soup there, when they have my favorite.

It used to be great, just too expensive. Now its not great, just too expensive. I think because they are closing, they dont care about their reputation. Long line to order breakfast. When it was my turn to order, the gentleman just kept working without an acknowledgement of any sort. So I just waited, and waited until finally he just looked at me like Imsupposed to know hes ready to take my order. I ordered huevos rancheros. Ive had it here before and it was good. Today however, it was not. All it was is a bed of black beans, two small corn tortillas, two eggs and salsa. So I asked the server if it had changed because its different from what I was used to. He said it hadnt changed, thats the way it has always been. So I went up to the order taker and ask him the same question. I got the same answer. So I asked if they had any cinnamon rolls or Danish. All he could tell me was that Id have to get in line again. Really, thats how you handle customer complaints? I cant believe that this place has gone downhill to this. Like I said, it used to be great.

I had accompanied my girlfriend to a doctors appointment at Sutter Health Center around the corner. We walked around the area afterwards looking for a place for lunch and came across Bernardos. The place was busy but not overcroweded and we were seated immediately. The menu contained some rather unique items. I chose a Salmon BLT, not a combination that you would normally think of. The flavor was great and the salmon cooked just right. It also was a very healthy serving. I ate only half and took the rest for a snack later. The frys were also very good.

I was taken there by a friend for lunch on a Friday. I had the salad sampler. Well, by 6:00 p.m., I was deathly ill until 2:00 p.m. the worst was over and ruined my weekend. I call on Monday morning to let the manager know what had happened. He didnt even offer an apology; instead he insisted I had eaten some where else that day. That was my only meal that day. After I relayed this, he promptly hung up on me! Nice attitude. I had hoped to save others from this fate. I seriously regret not turning them in. I will never go there again.

The food is MUCH better than the Tower Cafe or the Fox & Goose. My favorites include the huevos rancheros; the breakfast burrito; the chorizo and eggs; and, for a change of pace, either the oatmeal or the fruit and yogurt. And theyll substitute sauteed spinach for the fried potatoes if you ask. The wait staff are friendly, the coffee is good, and it has a nice neighborhood feel. Its a great place to meet a friend or read the Sunday paper. The only down side is that they dont offer a tofu scramble for vegans and vegetarians.

Never great. Ive given this place several tries, and the food and experience is never memorable. I detest the hostage tipping process too. Im a heavy tipper for service, but this is one of those places where they want a tip before you ever receive your food. Id be nervous to find out what happens if one doesnt tip. So, I tip 18% - 20% based on them taking my order at the register, and then I get terrible service and mediocre food dropped at my table later. That in itself makes for a terrible experience.

This place has a great selection of food ranging from great soups & salads, burgers, sandwiches, pizzettas, Chilaquiles, breakfasts and pastries. I personally love the Chilaquiles, the cubano sandwich and their mixed green salad with goat cheese and strawberries. They also have coffee, espresso, Cappuccinos and lattes. They have great indoor and outdoor cafe style seating. A very casual and laid back place. You definately cant go wrong here and Im sure I left plenty of great things out.

Quality food and super consistent. Their habanero burger is one of my favorites throughout Sacramento (great flavor and not as hefty as the serious, incredible burgers at South and Pangaea). Note that fries/sides are not included with sandwich prices, in contrast to some other places at similar price points. (As a regular lunch customer, I actually appreciate this.) The bacon in their bacon avo omelette usually could stand to fry/bake a little longer, though.
