Im giving it a 1 star only because there is no option for 0! Worse place to eat sushi! Do not waste your time and money!!! Ive visited this place twice in the last 3 years and twice I had a horrible experience with them. Last time I used groupon coupon. I didnt realize that you have to dine in if you are using this coupon, so I ordered to go. When we got there, the manager had a really bad accent and was hard for me to understand her. She told me that she will not except my coupon because its for dine in. So I told her that I will dine in then. She got frustrated and told me that they are closing and that I need to take my food, pay for it and get out. It was 45 minutes till closing, there were atleast another 20 so people dining in. I told her that I will only dine in and pay with groupon. She turned around, took my plate of sushi and threw it on the table! Im sorry but Im one of those people that are always happy, never get frustrated or upset about anything and that just did it for me. It took a whole lot of effort to keep myself together. My husband insisted of staying, so we did. Noone came up to us to offer us drinks etc. Later my husband ended up paying for the whole meal anyway. I didnt eat anything there that day, but my husband did, the next day he ended up having a food poisoning and was stuck in bad for 2 days.

I made a reservation for my daughters 1st birthday. But the owner took an another reservation after 1 hour from me and just notified me a day ahead. The worst restaurant I ever visited.

Our waiter Justin was a doll and the food we ordered was very good. The rating would have been higher if this incident had not happened: The hostess (older asian woman) walked us to our table. I gave her a “heads up” that we would be using an EXPIRED Groupon. She immediately snapped back, “You cannot order any of the specials” and walked off. Well, expired is just what I paid and yes, I can order anything I please. By the way, it was 2:00 p.m. and the special applied to DINNER ONLY. Then, in the middle of our lunch, she walks up and asked me for my Groupon. It was on my Smart Phone and my waiter had already told me he would take care of it at the end of our lunch. Seriously?? I told her no. I was much more polite than she, but I was furious. Not the way you want to go out to eat. Also, if there are exclusions or exceptions, aren’t they suppose to be in the Groupon??

Pros: This Sushi restaurant has a bar inside, The kitchen is located in the middle, and you sit there like a bar, order your food, Eat right there and watch the chefs cooking. The taste of the sushi is unique compare to others The quality of the food as well as the service are great Te waiters have been working here for so long according to my friend who took me there This means the owner treats them well for them to stick to this job. This restaurant opened more than 50+ years ago and still open till today. This could mean it is working and have their customers. Cons : It is a bit pricy The bathrooms are not great but they are not bad It is the largest sushi restaurant I have ever been to. Normally they are mid-sizes If I had to change something there, it would be the bathroom. I would make them bigger and much cleaner

My boss decided to take our team out for lunch, and decided on Samurai Sushi. The main draw was they have a great Happy Hour special… when we arrive after drinks were ordered they informed us that we were too large a group to receive the Happy Hour deals. My boss asked to speak to the manager, as this seemed to be very unfair. The response: only my manager was not happy, so she should just sit down and eat. As a response, we paid for our drinks and left – all 15 or so of us. As we were leaving they came after us with apologies, and decided to give us the happy hour discounts. Too little, too late. Poor customer service, and a bait – and – switch promo means we will not be going back to this place. It seems they do this often enough to any promo deal. Let the customer beware of the sale…

Great food and sushi selection. Especially love the teriyaki and tempura. Good service and good atmosphere. UPDATE: The same great food, however, terrible service at the beginning. We came in and it was pretty empty, a lot of the staff were standing around and talking. We were waiting to be seated but pretty much got ignored until we called them over. Our food took longer than usual even though there were basically no other people. However, after we got our food it tasted great and the service improved. I was pretty disappointed since I had never had this kind of experience before at Samurai.

Family owned and operated Samurai Sushi, located just west of Rudys Hideaway on Folsom Blvd., is great between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Its convenient for a 7:00 p.m. movie at The Century 14, or the Palladio Theaters in Folsom. The bar usually has a few seats open and Mary, resident bartender in chief for the past five years, runs the bar smoothly. Recommend the Seared Steak.

The sushi was amazing - you know that feeling when it hits the spot just right? The ambiance is a bit on the loud side, so definitely not a place for romantic evening where you would want to hear every detail of the conversation. But if you are celebrating a birthday, eating out with a group of 3+ people, or simply came for a gourmet sushi dinner - this is the place to go!

Service was terrible, 15 minutes after being seated that we were acknowledged after we asked for service. They only brought 3 waters for a table of four. Food was just ok, but took forever to get. We asked for beer refills, they never came. We asked again ten minutes later. When we expressed concern to manager, she acted like she didnt care. We will never be back.

Decent sushi place with good, fast service and giant sushi boats. If you come here and its your birthday you get to spin the wheel and maybe get a free roll. The fish isnt as fresh here like it is with Sacramento restaurant Kru or even Mikunis. Decent drink specials and food specials. Good place for a large group. Atmosphere 3/5 Service 4/5 Food 3/5

Id give it 2-3 stars based on my first visit. Customer service is poor and food is below average. However, 1 star for their refusal to accept groupon for takeout. Their fine print says they accept it as long as you call 2 hours in advance which I did. Skip this place and go to Mikuni or Blue Nami.
