This became one of our regular hang-out place after cricket to chill off with some light south Indian food to fill our lost energy. The traditional Dosas are all really good, I have tried plain butter dosa, masala dosa, the 1 meter dosa etc. All of them comes out pretty crisp with good variety of chutneys to go with. The onion dosa is not that great in fact it tastes really weird as they put cold raw chopped onions inside the hot dosa, which is absolutely the wrong way to do stuffs. Either you do like in utthapam wherein you cook the onions along-with the dosa or atleast in this case sauteed onions should be added in which will enhance the taste and aroma of the dosa. The 1 meter dosa is actaully a masala dosa but to save on the cost of the masala instead of putting the masala inside the dosa they give you on the side in 2 cups, now thats really messed up as it takes the whole concept of masala dosa away. The Rava dosa is not very crispy but its very thin in fact its so thin that you cant hold it properly enough to dip into the chutney, it will start breaking off. The poori combo is good but couple of times during noon time they ran out of it, only God knows hows that even possible and the alternate solution is chana batura which is not that great in taste. Once we ordered a south-indian thali, it was just OK. Overall its a nice place if you are strictly adhering to the traditional dosa varities, any deviation form normal is like the risk we take wandering into untested waters !

We have come here several times and rarely had any problems. The food was good and the service was decent. But now, I am questioning whether we should come here again. I had no problems with the food, but the service was HORRIBLE. Actually, theres horrible, then theres fifty feet of poop under that, and then below that is how good the service was today. The experiences we have had with bad service, was just us and everyone else had good service. This time, everyone had bad service. When we came in, they sent us to a tiny table ( there were 7 of us) and they said that the table next to us would be free soon. It was, but then, they sent another family to the table. Of course its not their fault, the seating guy was just making something up. Next, the cups were dirty but not that bad. There was chocolate on my plate. It took them 20 minutes to give us napkins and spoons and forks. From where I was sitting, I could see a family tired of waiting for food and they just got up and left. So, that family next to us, they only came 5-10 minutes after we came, and as I write this, they are probably still waiting for food. My dad, grandma, and grandpa, are still there waiting. It took them so long, that my grandma was down on sugar. So, instead, you should go to Sri Venkatesh Bhavan. Excellent service, excellent food, they have never done anything like this even when it was more crowded than this place.

This place offers a lot of south indian variety and a few north indian choices. We ordered the kalyana thali and regular thali. Both of them offered a lot of variety, but all of it was quite spicy. The reason why I gave 3 stars is the lack of ambience and comfortable seating. One thing that put us off was loud devotional music at lunch time. If the restaurant had tapped into the rich Carnatic instrumentals or fusion music from India, it may have created a better atmosphere for the customers to enjoy their lunch.

Recently had a catering order with Anandha Bhavan, Pleasanton. The menu was mix veg pakoda with coconut chutney, biriyani with raitha, bisebelabath with papad ,curd rice with lemon pickle and gulab jamun. The pakoda was nice and crisp, biriyani flavorful and moderately spiced (at our request), bisebelabath was delicious, and curd rice, creamy and tempered with the right spices. Overall, our guests relished the food and it was a pleasant experience for all of us!

This is a pure South Indian restaurant Good for tiffins and thali(lunch and dinner). Vada is not good here but I like other tiffens. I have ordered thali here several times for lunch and dinner. Its good. Curries are little spicy and Sambhar too.If you order North Indian food this is not the place I feel. Pani puri is very spicy and Samosa too. I heard that biriyani is good but spicy. So ordering South Indian food is a good option here

Nice food but poor service. My son spilled water (cant blame him as he is just 3)..the lady on the counter gave a tough look and did not extended any help..when asked for help..she gave bunch of napkins. I have to explicitly ask for a server to clean up...I have seen better service hence expect same or better. Also the food is spicy and not fit for kids..but my stars does not reflect this as I expect spicy from an Andhra restaurant. .

We have been to this restaurant for the First time last week as one of the nearby Indian restaurant was full and couldnt get in. When you have a similar restaurant nearby which serves very good food, you have to try and keep up with them, When the food came out to our tables, Most of them were cold which is not something you want. The vegetarian thali was okay but not a Jaw dropping experience and the Poori was okay but a bit chewy.

Kalyana Bhojanam(Sapudu) was good during first two weeks after their inauguration and visited 2-3 times with family. Once we experienced bad food quality and bad taste on our 4 or 5th visit during 3rd week, we stopped coming here and switched over to Venkatesh bhavan(consistently providing quality food), Chat bhavan(north indian) and Thali(now they serve south indian authentic) near places. Good bye Ananda Bhavan!

Worst service and poor quality of food. They took 10 mins to give a table for 4 of us when there were plenty of tables available. And then the person who took the order didnt even bother to let us know that there is no rice and without even asking us, he brought coconut rice with sambar, rasam and curd????!!! Typical indian mentality to sell the product.

Decent food. It was cleaner than I expected after reading previous reviews but we were there just 30 mins after they opened. The ghee masala dosa, Mysore masala and mini sambar idli were good. The chutneys tasted fresh and the peanut one was really good! The music was way too loud and they were playing 50s Tamil music which was too jarring for us.

Been here several times, they never seem to be serving what i want on their menu. Example, there werent serving dosas on the breakfast menu. Really disappointed... Dosas were more than 60% of their breakfast menu btw... Changing my review to 1 star... I saw that other customers were being served dosas as i was walking out, just not me i guess.

Good Indian food spoilt by poor service. No apparent reason for taking an hour to serve three simple dosas! And we all had to share the food in the order it was served as we gave up preference for lack of infinite patience. We saw at least two groups leaving fed up waiting. Cant blame them! To sum up, not worth your time.
