We had purchased a Groupon for Zen. From the description it sounded different. Once inside, our first impression was, ok. We were greeted and taken to our table. We got there 1 hour before closing and there was a lot of clean up going on already The busboy was cleaning off a nearby table with a stinky bleach rag. The smell was all over. They were cleaning the sneeze guards over the food as well. The food looked ok. Not like it had been sitting around. Our biggest complaint was the food was bland. Desserts are typical whipped cream sponge cake yuck. The Cream Brule wasnt awful. They did have a Chocolate fountain. But they only had marshmallows. The fruit was nasty. White strawberries and Watermelon. The busboy was pulling out the booths next to use to sweep. He says they do it every Sun. We have closed up many a restaurant in our day but never felt like we should grab a rag and help. It was a disappointment. Wasnt aware it only had a "B" rating. I bought 2 Groupons. I hope I can get a credit on the 2nd one because we are not coming back.

customers beware! I went there for a late lunch, but a third of their 20 or so food offerings were empty. The food that was there mustve been sitting there for hours, as the "orange" chicken was more like chicken jerky. The bill came to $24 plus tax for 3 (2 seniors) on monday, so we gave them $30 and they forced us to pay tip as they never gave us change. (We were going to tip them anyways, but they shouldnt force.) So, since lots of food trays were empty, we waited for new food to come out, so I got some shrimp, then the waitress (who had ignored us before) came to us and said, we paid for lunch and we cant get anymore food after 4pm!!!!! So I stormed out and did research about Zen Buffet. They had 4 locations before, but all have gone bankrupt and shut down except for this location, ( I wonder why??) and I predict this last restaurant will also shut down due to their amateur business practices.

This restaurant is very deceiving. Please see the yelp reviews for an honest description. I went here on 06-20-17. Very poor greeting. Vey few smiles. The employees seem to hate working there and to them I say why do you continue to be a part of something you do not enjoy? Very NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENT! THE OPPOSITE OF ZEN! Loud cooks and dishwashers. Pushy people at the buffet stations. Christmas decorations still up on walls. Food was ok, but made me feel not so great after. Waitress brought me wrong drink and never returned to check our status. Nasty dirty bathrooms. Grade B rating from city. Wet floors in womens bathroom caused my mom to slip and fall and when told an employee they seemed to be amused.

A 3.8 stars for Zen? Are you kidding me. I looked up sushi in Arcadia and this place comes up at almost 4 stars! I incredible, the food is incredibly bad. The Sushi is the worst around. If you could call it sushi. The only thing good I have had here were oysters, they had a nice hot and sweet sauce on them that I wasnt expecting to taste as good. I guess at times the salad is good and fresh ingredients as long as you go on a Monday. Hey, sometimes the California roll is made with real crab cause it was left over from the king crab legs they serve on Sunday. Sometimes the chicken wings are not over cooked.

I clipped a coupon and it saved me $2. I paid for a regular weekday morning lunch of 8.99 and with my coupon came out to 6.99. There was plenty of food selection for me, considering it was a regular weekday. I especially like the fake or imitation shark fins soup and thought that the ice cream was pretty good as it was not sweet.. either green tea ice cream or something similar. The decor is great and the restroom not dirty as usually Asian restrooms are really filthy.

I hardly ever complain about restaurants.. I love Chinese food!! And Ive been to other Zen Buffets before.. But this place is dissapointing.. Food was cold the staff doesnt really speak english and I had a hard time explaining to them the food was cold... You couldnt enjoy the food there.. When asked to speak to a manager she dismissed my complaint.. So yeah bad service!! Never again will I go there.. #badservice #coldfood #zenbuffet

Food is bad.. this is my first time here. This place looks like alot of food. But actually there are not. I been standing around the sushi table and observe those people (2)working on the sushi table. None are wearing gloves while prepare the sashimi and dont see him wash his hands and go to prepare the sushi. DONT EXPECT IT WILL BE GOOD. SUCKS IS THE ONLY WORD THAT I CAN COME UP WITH. SORRY

Extremely rude cashier hostess lady in the front. Never going back to this place. Food is a solid C and the service is even worse. ***in reponse to comment below: I never left any bags in your restaurant and never left my seat for a long time other than to put some of your disgusting food on my plate. You are mistaking me for a different upset guest. I am upset because your receptionist is rude.

Did the Groupon here. Was really debating buying based on the poor reviews. However the food was very good. I dont understand what everyone is crying about regarding poor service.........considering it is a buffet. I am not sure what those people that gave one star is expecting. Overall good food and reasonably priced. Some very authentic Chinese dishes was a good surprise.

Had the worst experience at Zen Buffet in Monrovia service sucks. Hostess was very disrespectful and it was clear that she did not want to serve non-Asians. we told her that her attitude was disrespectful and she said that she did not care. We asked for the manager and she would not give us his name. Will never ever go to a Zen Buffet again!

MY WIFE MADE A RESERVATION FOR A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR PARTICULAR TABLE THE PREVIOUS DAY. THE TABLE WAS NOT RESERVED FOR US THE NEXT DAY. THERE WAS NO EXCUSE FROM THE MANAGER WHATSOEVER. THE AIRCONDITIONING WAS SET TO 78 DEGREES AT IT WAS REALLY HOT. THE FOOD IS OK, NOTHING SPECIAL. PRICES ARE HIGH. I WILL AVOID THIS PLACE IN THE FUTURE.

Spacious restaurants. Food is decent; come on Fri/Sat/Sun for a greater selection (but also a higher cost). Theres a sushi bar, salad/appetizer bar, stir-fry & hot food stations, soup, seafood and dessert bars. Big parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. Asked for hot water but they served it in a plastic cup?!

Very rude and unprofessional service . Treat customers badly, service with angry looks . Their food is of cheap quality and they have employees watching over how much you eat . Bad service and horrible employees . Do not eat at this place . They also have "B" rating from health department for food quality .

First, its cheap. I got more than what I paid for especially since I used groupon. Second, its quite clean. I would suggest some fixes on the restroom, the floor was sticky. Third, it doesnt have outview (cant really see outside), but the interior is quite nice.
