Eats: Truffled Poutine Burger Lets get this straight: Umami burger is heavily hyped by as many people as those who wonder what umami even means. Regardless, hype brought me in to this place. Like many other LA establishments, it looked like Umami was converted from a tiny storefront. It did not look like space and capacity would suit this location, but I cannot comment since while the dining room was full, there was a vacant equally sized outdoor patio. Thankfully I got a spot underneath 2 heaters, but I could not say the same for most other seats in the patio. The Truffled Poutine Burger that I ate wasnt a normal menued item at Umami. The limited edition item was a bunless medium rare patty, truffled cheese, sprinkling of shiitake, covered in truffled gravy, and served over fries. Almost low carb, till you get to the bottom. It was a tasty meal with much of the flavor coming from the truffled gravy. I didnt get the same truffle sensation as I get eating other truffle fried goodies (like tator tots!), so it was a bit of a let down. I was pretty intrigued by the amount of dipping sauces, but I did limit myself to just the garlic aioli. Id like to try the jalapeno ranch next time as I usually have ranch with my fries. This place will be revisited, and when I do, Ill have the namesake Umami Burger.

I absolutely hate that one of my yoga studios (Modo Yoga) is literally right above this place. Usually after a workout I am STARVING and as I come out of my yoga studio, my immediate choices are a juice bar or umami burger... So being the health-conscious person that I am, I naturally decide to get a burger with fries. I got the sunnyside burger after reading many recommendations and it is definitely a solid choice. Be prepared for it to get messy though... I started with my hands and had to switch to using utensils mid-burger. The truffle oil was perfect and not overbearing. My friend got the umami burger, which looks a bit plain, but does the job. We also got the cheesy tots which were so delicious! Try dipping it in both the truffle ketchup and the garlic aioli together. My next choice (because I will definitely be coming back) will be the truffle burger and truffle fries. I know youll probably be full after the burger, but you have to try their ice cream sandwiches (from Coolhaus)! I got the mies vanilla rohe... the cookie is so perfectly chewy! Thank you Umami Burger, for ruining my workout.

Umami Burger - Grove is literally the worst restaurant that I have ever been to, and fails miserably in the quality of food served and the manner in which it is served. My GF and I went here on August 15, 2016 at around 9PM. We were seated promptly and expected things to go well. Unfortunately, the opposite occurred. First, the food arrived rotten (see pictures). Second, the burger was ice-cold in the middle, as well as my egg--which was served on the side oddly. Third, the cheese on the fries came out ice-cold and dried into a large chunk. We complained--very nicely, with a large tip for the waiter--and we told him we were not paying for uncooked and rotten food. Unfortunately, nothing was done, forcing me to call American Express, who promptly refunded me. The worst part is that instead of addressing issues, Umami buries negative reviews on Yelp -- look at the "not recommended" -- they are all one-star. Do not frequent this establishment, there is simply nothing redeemable about it.

I love Umami Burger, but not this one. Ordered a Manly Burger with a friend after enjoying one at a different location a few weeks ago. It was to salty and had a taste that was difficult to swallow. I had to drink over three glasses of water while eating to help me intake the burger. Not to mention I had to wait over 5 mins before a waiter even came by so that I may ask for more water. If anything was going to be good I thought the fries with the Umami ketchup would be, but I was let down again. The fries also were showered in salt. My table itself was wobbly but atleast the waitress offered to adjust it. The restrooms felt just as dirty as any fast-food restaurants restroom. In conclusion service was ok, food was poorly done, restrooms were bad and it was a bad experience. If you want a great Umami Burger that I know youll enjoy and Love, I reccomend you go to the locations in Hollywood. (Try the Cali Burger)

Wow! What a great and somewhat expensive place to eat but worth it. I thought this was a regular burger joint but the setup is very stylish. Manny recommended the two favorites so I got the Umami burger and truffle fries. So delicious and he even gave us three sample sauces. We took two home. My daughter had the plant burger, most realistically beef burger Ive ever seen. She loved it. They even have edamames as an appetizer and serve pickles for snacks like chips and salsa. The food here is better than the burger restaurant on Coronado Island which is the closet place I can relate it to. The location is adjacent to Barneys NY left side in front of parkinglot with the structure dance fitness mural. We passed it and didnt even know it. Great place, better food and service. To be clear best burger place weve ever had pleasure to eat in. A must try.

I want to like this Umami Burger location so badly, mostly due to it being right next to The Grove. Sadly, the place is almost always packed, and understandably, the staff is way overworked and it shows in their service; though they certainly get an A for effort. Youll find a wide range of delicious, high quality burgers with a unique and pricey twist, and the beverage menu is almost as long as the food section. Check out their Specialty Burger part of the menu, and dont forget to order a side of their finger-licking Truffle or Sweet Potato Fries to go with your burger. Of course, if youre there during the Holiday Season, forget all that! You HAVE to try their never-before-tasted Pumpkin Spice Latte Burger. It is Food Porn to the extreme, and so craveably special, youll never see regular burgers the same way again.

This was the first time I decided to check out Umami and it was quite a disappointment from the service, to getting a burned AND yet still cold burger. My boyfriend (now ex) was not happy with the food at all and neither was I. I expect when you go to an expensive ala cart burger joint that for the price its should be better than In-n-Out or Hamburger Habit well this location is not equal to my under $10 burger spots. Really this location is more on par with McDonalds where its tasteless, bland and cold but when you pay $3 for a burger you dont expect much. If your craving a great burger at the Grove Id skip overpriced long line Umami!

I LUV IT!!! Their food is delicious! They make it so juicy and good. Their ketchup is good also, they make it so unique. Well everything they make is so unique. Everything is good their. I just had the Original without mushrooms (with my meat cooked at a medium well) and once I took 1 bite out of it I felt like I was in hamburger heaven!!! Its delicious! You definitely cant get enough of their food. But it could get pricy for 1 burger is about 15 - 19 dollars. I went with my Aunt and my Grandma and we spent on total for about 64 dollars. It CRAZY! Just for the 3 of us. But other than that it was DELICIOUS!
