This review is strictly for the speakeasy-like bar in the bar of Cafe Stella. Dimly lit and upbeat, I stepped into a room full of wonder and excitement. I was digging the music they were playing, which seemed to be straight from my Pandora playlist (hint: Bonodo station all the way). Theres even a DJ booth area for when the place wants to get extra hype, I guess. It was my first time at this establishment last night. I was there for a friends birthday celebration and features your typical first come, first serve seating area. Because my friend doesnt drink alcohol, we asked Jesse, one of the bartenders (he wears black eyeglasses) to make a nice non-alcoholic drink. What he ended up making my friend blew all of our minds away. I come to find out that its their cocktail Sea Archer without the alcohol. It was AMAZING and I highly recommend it virgin or with booze. Extremely refreshing with a hint of ginger taste to it. The one thing I wouldnt necessarily order is their old fashioned. They do not do it well. The balance is extremely off and its way too strong. Id rather take my whiskey neat than to have it mixed w/whatever they put in their old fashions. It literally tasted like gasoline was in my mouth. Be warned!

We eat out several times a week and really wanted to like Stella given the convenient location and menu. After two attempts, weve written it off. The prices are high for the quality of the food (hit Blairs instead or Hungry Cat). But the killer is the poor service and overwhelming attitude of the staff. Who knows, perhaps it was on purpose and they were simply trying to provide an authentic experience by mimicing old style stereotypical French service... The first time we tried it, we ended up waiting in the front, with the staff fully aware of us, but refusing to acknowledge or help us find a table (when several were available) for a full ten minutes. The host was actually making phone calls rather than helping us. Food came out cold. We tried again, this time trying the bar in hopes of finding more attentive service, and were similarly put off by very slow and surly staff. The food was ok, frankly more attitude than taste, and priced high, it seemed, to make itself appear more exclusive and high quality. The food was ok, so I wont say dont eat there. But for the service and price, there are lots of places in the area that fully earn your tab.

Stella is in Silver Lake, so expect plenty of homeless looking folk eating here. Makes the game homeless or hipster a good pass time while you wait to be seated. The hostess are always lovely and greet you with a smile. Inteligencia coffee is right around the corner, so either order it for breakfast or walk over afterwards. Food is good, prices are what would be expected. The only item in their menu that makes me roll my eyes is their avocado. It is half an avocado drizzled with olive oil with a sprinkle of salt and pepper for 3 to 5 dollars. As far as I know, the avocado wasnt handled by the pope or the president, so I dont know how they can justify the cost, but its fine, I simply look past it and order items on the menu that are worth the cost.

You cant beat the ambience here. Most of the seating is in a very charming outdoor patio. The interiors consist of various rooms intertwined together. Nothing else in L.A. like it. Good wine and cocktail selection. They have a great lunch and dinner menu. Service is generally very good. It is expensive. Ive heard a lot of people mention this wondering if the food was actually worth it. I dont know. But I always find myself going back. One of Silver Lakes classic establishments. Be prepared for charm and dont worry about the cost and you will enjoy it.

This cafe is tired and trite, offering below par fare for disproportionate cost. The fake Parisian-bistro decor, complete with clumsy Picasso-like drawing, the dark (too dim to eat by) lighting and the surly attitude from the waiting staff (who seem to have confused the restaurant with a film set) do nothing for this venue. The food emulates french cuisine in name only and leaves a bitter taste, especially after receiving the bill. If youve never had good french food or if you like loads of bad attitude when dining out, go to Cafe Stella.

Cafe Stella is a pinch of Paris in Los Angeles. Their wine list features well thought out French selections, while their cocktails are curated American choices on a deep and delightful liquor menu. There is outdoor and indoor seating, and a small smoking patio for those who wish to light up. Choose the artichoke, then the steak au poivre, follow with a cheese and honey plate, and finish it all with a fernet for the perfect evening.

WARNING TO TV/FLIM PRODUCTIONS... I just heard from one of my FB friends that the owner of the place try to interfere and stop production that was filming near his place unless they pay him bunch of money. The production have all the necessary paperwork and permits to film near his place. So if you planning to do a low budget, high budget, tv or film there, be aware of the greedy owner of the place.

The owner and the chef are on vacation so because of this? the cuisine tonight was mediocre, the rillette de lapin too smoked and all grease, the supposedly fabulous salade de betterave tasteless and with no beets, the pepper steak too tough, the gnocci too bland, and the price way too high. The service was O.K but not great. It surely was a big disappointment compared to the way it used to be!

An LA staple. Great food, exclusive, artsy clientele great, friendly service, beautiful decor. You feel like you are eating in a picturesque grotto. Flavorful entrees with a great bar attached that attracts cool kids, musicians and artists. Its the exact type of place youd expect to find the Intelligentsia crowd (which is located next door) in the evenings. I love this hotspot.

Not worth the price. The food was good but not mind blowing, and not worth $60 per person. Scallops were gritty and there were only 3 on a $28 plate. When we complained they said sorry but didnt comp us anything. In the end, the quantity/quality/price ratio was completely off.

The food is great as is the atmosphere. The decor really makes you feel like you are in a fancy French bistro somewhere in Paris. The staff has always been friendly and nice to me. The only down side is the price which seems a little high even for this trendy corner.

A waiter was being very rude to some female clients, he claimed he was from Israel when he heard they were middle eastern, he removed their dishes and asked them to leave. I was so shocked to witness that, so did other customers who told him he was being out of line.

I just saw a live video uploaded by Jeremy White where the owner of this place extorted a film crew. Films does your restaurant good Mr. Owner and instead you made thousands of people of Facebook hate you. Hope this teaches people like him to BE NICE!

Came for brunch twice. Enjoyed both times Ive been here. Really recommend the bar area you enter off Sunset. They do a great job with the beverages here and the atmosphere is excellent. The restaurants garden area is also a great place to be seated.
