Wow! I came on here to share my horrible experience with this place and I am really surprised by how many great reviews there are. We live in south Pas. and have talked about coming to this place many times as we had passed by it. We decided to try it on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The guy who served us was maybe the rudest person I have met working at a restaurant. Total jerk. I think he might of actually been the owner. We sat down and decided what we wanted to order. He came over and asked if we were ready and I said yes but had a few questions. He said "why would you have questions?" I thought maybe he was joking. We asked our questions and he gave the shortest answers possible. Then we ordered. I ordered my meal and asked if he could hold the onions. He then looked to me and said, no joke, "how about I sit here with your girlfriend (my wife) while you go explain to my cook why you are making his job harder when making your food." I looked at my wife in complete shock. I told him "thats fine, well leave then" he then said "fine, goodbye" Now we didnt even get to the food so maybe thats why all the great reviews. But for that kind of service alone, I say avoid this place like the plague.

The setting is nice, and, overall, the food was good (although service was slow). My chief complaint was about the Chefs Special Salmon Roulade. It was a salmon fillet, wrapped with bacon, on top of a "lobster sauce" and (what I thought) were wild mushrooms. Long story short: I could "smell" the salmon, which made me wonder how fresh it was. Also, the bacon added an odd smokey taste that was not nice. Combined with the "lobster sauce" (which was plenty salty), it became a salt-fest (and I LIKE salt). The fact that the chef chose ordinary button mushrooms simply added insult to injury. My suggestion: Do the roulade using salmon and any of the following: black cod/lump crab/lobster; lose the bacon; use chanterelle or cremini mushrooms; and, add saffron (maybe thyme?) to the "lobster sauce." Apart from these specific comments on one dish, the restaurant is very nice, cozy, attractive, and the food is good. Just, be careful if you opt for whatever the chefs "special" happens to be.

My fiance and I were going to be in the area and decided that perhaps this was a nice brunch location. When we arrived, we were completely ignored by staff and the hostess. However, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they were busy. Finally, when enough was enough, the hostess gave us an insulting once over and told us they werent taking any more customers. Apparently, they had too large a party. I looked over at the half a dozen patrons and left in disgust. Dont waste your time here, particularly if youre not Caucasian. I wouldnt set foot in this restaurant if they paid me.

I really dont think the people that posted a lot of these negative reviews are truly patrons of this great little place. I have been a fan for years now. The service is amazing, the food is amazing, the aura this place gives is amazing. I just had lunch here. Once again, amazing. In the years I have been coming here, Ive yet to see a hostess for brunch. I truly believe people are trying to falsely lead you away from this place. Today I had the dijon burger. Perfectly made through and through. the wine list is great and the staff can really pair something up for you.

IMPORTANT, new owner, new chef, new interior and new team Maybe thats the reason why people were not happy about this place at the end of August. I really encourage them to go check it back. The food is really good, all made with fresh products and very tasty. The wine list is good, you can get a very good bottle for less than $35. Im planning to go 2 or 3 times per month with my family because its one of the best deal for quality / price.

A delightful little bistro nestled next to the train station in South Pasadena (hence the name). A rather simple menu which offers many french classics such as escargot, french onion soup and an entrecôte du boeuf which is excellent! Food quality is great and the wine list is moderately priced too. A great venue for a gathering of friends too as we recently experienced. Dreaming of that entrecôte again!

A bit pricey but may be worth it if you order the right item. This is authentic French restaurant, a rare thing around this area. This is a good place to impress your date who can appreciate French foods. The setting is nice as you could have a nice walk around the area after dinner. Wine choices are good here. Its so close to the Gold Line metro that you could avoid the hassle of parking.

Sunday brunch smoked Salmon Benedict was great...everything just right. Dinner was the equally good sole with a delicate sauce. The interior needs a fan or windows that open. People with strong perfume can spoil the experience. Next time well sit outside.

We love to have a glass of wine and enjoy their French onion soup with appetizers and salad on a busy week day. We have had several of their seafood and chicken dishes and each dish has been enjoyable.

The service was attentive, but the food was not worth the price. The salmon was bland, dry, and overcooked. My partners duck was good though not inspiring. One could do much better.

We enjoy this place even though it seems empty most of the time. French onion soup is quite tasty. Nice to eat outside during the farmers market.

A fancy little brunch. They have a homemade juice with about 15 different fruits ($10), but it was delicious and fresh.

This place was great but I believe it is under new owners and the food has gone downhill service is still great.

Nice, low key atmosphere, very good food. The clientele seemed quite snooty, but the staff was great.
