I know Im spoiled after growing in the SGV and having dimsum in Monterey Park and Rosemead area. I would say taste wise, this is the closest I can find to that area. However, it wasnt without some typical service woes. Coming here with a party of 7, took us 45 minutes to be seated which I guess is typical of any dim sum. I believe the longest Ive waited in my childhood years, Ive waited as long as 2 hours. But upon sitting down on one of those round table around the corner, we felt a little neglected. No water, no choice of tea for first 10 minutes. As for the carts, we had one lady with a total attitude after she explained to us what she had and we only took one item. She dropped the item on the table and shoved the ticket she stamped to me. The shrimp siu mai is good The Calamari here is excellent The tripe here is just ok The egg tart here is above average, though quite small The HK style noodles is drowned in too much sauce To get knive utensils, we asked who looked like a runner. We also asked him for water but he never came back. It wasnt until we found an Asian guy, who happily took our noodle order, got our drinks, and my spicy mustard. We dont ask for much but it felt like you had to get the right person. So for dessert and the check, we also asked him and he was fast and friendly. Be advised, food is great and service is a hit and miss here just like your typical Chinese places.

We had Dim Sum today arriving shortly after the doors opened. We were met almost immediately with several steaming Dim Sum carts. We selected 5 items, two of which were okay while three were less than good. We were not served water or tea until after asking 3 different waiters. By the time we had finished eating, the tea came in a very dirty pot. We could scratch the dirt of the spout easily, so it was tea stain. When we arrived I saw the manager at the front desk, so I asked a waiter to speak to the manager. The waiter came back several minutes later and told me the manager was not in and no one was in charge. I next asked the hostess to speak to the manager and she told me she would get him. A couple of minutes later he did come to the table, listened to our complaints. He brought a fresh pot of tea and marked our check down !0%. Before leaving I used the mens room, which I found to be dirty. No excuse for the restroom to be dirty so soon after opening. Our experience was not good. With all of the restaurants available I see no reason to return to the Capital Seafood.

Im a fan.... but I prefer other places must better. (Like Din Tai Fung or Ocean Star) The service was a little pushy... had to tell them multiple times that "No please I dont want that" "No its okay" The food was a 3.5/5 in my opinion. Dimsum is usually supposed to be oily but i felt like this place was much oiler than other restaurants. I just felt like I was eating a lot of food doused in oil and I didnt like that. I couldnt really finish a lot of the food. I would take one of each and struggle finishing each one because it was so oily. I ended up not eating much at all but left so full. Oh and also I went in like right when they opened in the morning and had to use the restroom.... But only ONE stall had toilet paper. I feel like the staff should be more wary of their restrooms... especially if it just opened in the morning. Shouldnt someone have restocked it all before they left the night before?

I enjoy dining at Capital Seafood very much. Ive been here multiple times for dim sum and recently came back for a friendsgiving dinner party. We were a party of 12. There were no tables that could accommodate our party, so they had to pull 2 round tables next to each other. I thought that was fair. Since we were 2 tables, we opted to order separately. That turned out well, IMO. 4 pound house special lobster whole peking duck braised black mushroom & baby bok choy sautéed garlic greens walnut shrimp clams w/basil Everything we ordered were tasty! My favorite were the peking duck and braised mushroom & bok choy. The skin of the duck was crispy and meat was really tender. The steam bun that came with this dish was a great addition. I made little duck sliders with them. The braised mushroom dish was so fresh! All in all- great place for a family style dinner.

I can see why connoisseurs of authentic dim sum might turn up their noses at Capital Seafood, but for an occasional and pedestrian dim sum eater like myself, it suited me just fine. Ive never been to dim sum in South Orange County before, and I met up with a friend one Saturday morning for an early lunch. The restaurant is brand spanking new and has a pleasing clean and modern ambiance. We enjoyed our various dim sum items, and I couldnt help but notice that they seemed pretty Americanized in their size--theyre noticeably bigger than what I was used to. Taste-wise it was fine, nothing mind blowing but pretty much what I was expecting so I was satisfied. I know some people think this place is expensive, but $15 for a gut-busting brunch? Haha this American is sold! I definitely wouldnt mind coming back, especially since 85C Bakery is right next door.

We have enjoyed their food and friendly efficient service, but not their dirty bathrooms and dusty venitian blinds, ledges, etc. It makes me wonder what their kitchen is like where I cant see it. They have a viewing window into the kitchen and everything is clean where visible, but, who knows what lurks beyond the window area. Come on, how much does it cost to hire a quality custodial service, especially when it appears to be a successful endeavor. When it opened it was spotless with interesting decor and was architectualy interesting. Since then the build up of dirty finger prints on doors and wood surfaces, plus scale and lime deposits on the bathroom counters and sinks has masked the once beautiful decor. I have a similar review of the restaurant on Alton only worse.

Theres a lot to like about this place. The ambience is very sophisticated and stylish. Its good place to take a date. I typically go here for happy hour. However the appeal to me is the appetizers Vs the drinks. I wish they had a larger beer selection. If you are bored with typical pub food then you will appreciate the appetizers. Pork strips, egg rolls, pork dumplings and the wings are all above average. Service is good and very friendly. I only had dinner here once so I do not enough experience to comment. The restaurant is part of a large shopping complex so traffic can get congested. Park near Nordstroms

Im upset. First time here... Looked great. I had to grab my own 3 menus from the back. Went to the restroom and toilet seat covers were missing and I had to switch stalls. Then my door didnt close in the next one. Sink was gross and no where to put my purse and shopping bags. DO NOT get the Chefs Special Chicken. Gross and had skin on the pieces of chicken. My Husband had a dirty beer glass and we had to get another one. Food was mediocre for the price. Average service. Good drink prices for happy hour. Good shrimp spring rolls. Wont ever come back.
