My husband and I were visiting my family in Southern California and what does everything in SoCal revolve around – a mall. It can be either an indoor mall or an outdoor shopping center…regardless it’s a mall. It was Friday night and we met at Irvine Spectrum to dine at Wood Ranch – one of my family’s favourite restaurants. Like many other restaurants in malls, I was very skeptical AND I’m a food snob. But I was proven wrong at Wood Ranch. Food: My brother told us that you can’t go wrong with either the baby back ribs or the tri tip so we ordered both. I first ordered the St. Louis ribs which I didn’t like because they were dry and hard to cut. I sent them back and ordered the baby back ribs which they swapped out and those were delicious. The baby back ribs were how ribs are supposed to taste. They were very tender and the meat fell off the bone. My husband’s trip tip was not only big in size but also really flavourful and tender as well. Everyone else in my family also ordered the tri tip. All of the sides we ordered from green beans, french fries, white corn, baked potato, broccoli and mac and cheese were all average. Just a note: The BBQ sauce they have the on tables was very addictive and their garlic bread is yummy. It comes out warm and soft. Drinks: Everyone ordered either soft drinks or the strawberry lemonade which was fresh and flavour. My niece being four ordered a chocolate milk. Just a heads up that the size of the soft drinks are enormous! Price: 175.86 USD for six people and one child which was incredibly reasonable. Ambiance: It’s a big space with outdoor seating. There’s not an ambiance, but it’s a large friendly feeling restaurant. Service: Carlos our server was efficient, friendly, accommodating and awesome. Would I go back? Yes. I would definitely go back with the family. Just a tip: Go early especially on the weekend because it gets insanely busy.

Sat down came late for a movie July 3rd. Food took a while and we were seated kind of far from anyone else eating near us. So I wouldnt suggest coming after 930 for dinner on a week night. It took us a long time to receive the bread that is complimentary. It did taste great though. Was a garlic buttery dinner roll. The food was the usual bbq flavored meat that these types of restaurants serve. It wasnt dry and was well flavored. I got the two bbq choice on the menu. So I chose beef ribs and tri tip. The tri tip wasnt anything special. The beef ribs were good tasted like any rib except that one of them was burnt on one side so it was dry and black, losing a lot of flavor. We also had the tri tip salad which weve gotten before. Its one of standard favorites since the tri tip has that smoked flavor. The two bbq combo for the ribs came with a small slab or tri tip and 2 beef ribs if you wanted to know the size. The sides we got were fries and corn. Id recommend the fries because it was lightly seasoned and crispy as well!

[CATERING REVIEW] About every 2 weeks, my company orders lunch from here. Its our favorite choice! So this review is based off their catered food. (It might also be tastier because its free for me!) BUT I do really like their Garlic Rolls, very soft and tasty. And theyre still warm when they arrive. Tri-tip = Tender! The sauce it comes with isnt too sweet either. I eat about 3 strips of these. Chicken = In the beginning I avoided this, since there was Tri-Tip but surprisingly, the chicken is really good too! Moist bits of meat! Mac & Cheese = Rawrrrr!!! Cheeesy. One of our favorite sides. Coleslaw = I have to have some sort of tangy side when eating heavy foods (must be the Asian in me) but I really enjoy their coleslaw. Mashed Potato = Hm nothing too special. Keep in mind I know nothing of their pricing since I get it for company lunches, theres no reason for me to go on my personal time ;) But if you need catering the Irvine area, this place is a hit with us!

I have eaten here quite a few times and its always been good but I have to remark on my experience last night. I ordered the 10oz tri tip with asparagus and green beans but when the dish came not only were the green beans missing (with the peanut cole slaw in its place) but the asparagus was clearly not hot off the grill, nor was the tri-tip. It seemed like that plate had probably been sitting around for at least a half-hour or they pre-prepared it. They did fix the error with the asparagus but I found the bill was still full-price. The service and food have always been good but this makes me wonder if Im eating something they cooked well before I ever showed up.

I went to this place in Irvine on 04/27/12. They just open and I thought I try it out. There was a Mexican guy wearing a silver outfit at front that was super rude. He thinks he is the owner of the place. Then it was time to order my food. I order a top serloin steak well done. It came to my table all bloody. The waitress was super distracted I asked her for A1 sauce she forgot about. She remember when I was half way done eating. I spend between steaks and drinks with my wife $120 is the worst experience in my life eating out. So many choices at the Irvine spectrum and I spend my money at the grade F place.

Very clean establishment. Has a great modern/cabin feel. I liked sitting close to the fireplace. There are multiple TVs viewable from some tables and at the bar just in case there is a game you want to catch. The server did a superb job. Always kept our beverages full and ensured we received anything we needed. The food came in a timely manner and tasted great. Though I had regrets on the beef brisket on this visit. It tasted very much like charcoal. Overall this Is a great restaurant and I recommend this for any type of occasion

Visited on a weeknight as a guest of a friend. Large, nicely decorated restaurant inside the Spectrum Mall. I had the North Carolina style pulled pork. I found it tender, but lacking that vinegary zing. It was OK. My wifes brisket was beefy and tender, but seems overly salty, again OK. Decent wines and beer to go with BBQ. Service was attentive without being pushy. I enjoyed myself, but I would not go out of my way to visit again. Maybe if I am at the mall and got hungry, I would stop in for a bite.

The tri tip and quinoa was a perfect combo. I was surprised how delicious that meat was but it was truly "groan inducing", where you have to stop for a minute and just appreciate what is happening. I figured "Im in California, why not get the quinoa?". Even though its barbecue, I thought Californians would know how to make quinoa, and I wasnt disappointed. It was one of the best sides Ive had at a BBQ restaurant, and I grew up in Oklahoma, lived in Georgia, and now live in Texas. It was solid.
