First of all I just want to say that the staff is very courteous and their establishment is well kept, one of the cleanest restaurants I have ever been in. They made the atmosphere inviting as Chipotle has a clinical dining area more reminiscent of a hospital cafeteria than a Mexican restaurant. I give the staff 5 stars the food is a different story, Im a Californian and have lived here all my life when it comes to Mexican cuisine Ive sampled quite a bit and have certain expectations about what particular dishes should taste like. I ordered the carnitas burrito with white rice, black beans, green salsa and pico de gallo. I found the carnitas bland which shouldnt be as carnitas are supposed to be slow cooked in spices like oregano, marojam, black pepper, salt, cumin and Mexican oregano. Spicy---not hot---carnitas have an earthy almost savory taste to them. The rice occasionally tasted like lime I will give Chipotle this you can really taste the lime, but not the cilantro. The pico de gallo was average, nothing special but it didnt harm the dish. The black beans were under seasoned if at all. Plus chips the meal costs $9.75, which is high considering I could have gotten a burrito in San Francisco @Taqueria Can-Cún---where prices tend to be higher ---dressed in the same way for under $8 and with chips for free*** to wrap up its all pretty average. My review actually makes it sound way more special than it is. Should you go to Chipotle: Yes, if you have IBS, if you think Mexican food is too ethnic. If its closer than a taqueria and then get some McDonalds instead. ***Upon further review You could get a super burrito and a super taco for less than I paid for a burrito and chips at Chipotle.

THE SERVICE IS SLOW, RUDE, STAFF APPEARS TO BE POORLY TRAINED AND THEY ARE DISRESPECTFUL. ON TWO OCCASIONS I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE. AFTER THE FIRST CATASTROPHE I CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE WHO SENT US A COUPON FOR TWO. WHEN I WENT TO REDEEM THE COUPON, THE MANAGER AND STAFF REFUSED TO FULLY HONOR IT! NEEDLESS TO SAY, I ONCE AGAIN REPORTED THEM TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THE EL CERRITO LOCATION.

Never that crowded around the edges of lunch/dinner rush when I have gone there. During the rush, parking can be a real challenge since as soon as the Chipotle parking lot fills up you are contending with all other San Pablo store traffic for limited spots. If you are in any semblance of a hurry, avoid parking at the E.C. Plaza, or at least enter at your own risk.

This is another unpleasant experience on top of the other ones... Meat not cooked all the way steak still pink it was a hassle to ask for well done steak a whole back and forth between the manager ... never mind. Went to off the grid instead, my daughter enjoyed her food.

Customer service was bad. I felt completely rushed along the line, even got my order confused with someone elses. I asked for mild, and they gave me the corn salsa. I had to repeat myself 4 times to get it right. Pathetic.

Pretty standard chipoltle, just opened I nthe last couple years so I forget its here. Next closest is down at Gilman, so it saves a few minutes coming from the north going to this one.
