This is such a hidden gem i the bay area. Jay, the head sushi master, is so amazing and the entire staff is beyond awesome. The regulars get their photo on the wall and personalized cedar boxes to drink their sake from (and sake at a nice little discount). My aunt and her man took us here, and everyone in the party adored this place! Its young, fresh, casual, and awesome. The fish is to-die-for fresh. Ask for the Tin-Tin roll - its named after my aunt, and is off-menu/secret roll. AWESOME! We were also given the chance to try wild salmon, which, if it is in season and available, you MUST try! So fantastic. My personal favorites here are the yellowtail and tuna sashimi SO FRESH. Just incredibly light in fishy-flavors, tender, succulent. Everything a nice cut of sashimi should be. Then move onto the fried yellowtail cheek. Everyone at the table was picking at the little pieces left over trying to get out each bit. The Lobster Roll and Sea Bass Roll also did not disappoint. Lots of great flavors and mixes, too many to recall the nuances. Just trust. Its good. Finally, I loved the traditional touch of serving the delicious sake in cedar boxes. This really (I was surpised too) brought out the flavors of the cedar and the sake, and made it a whole different experience.

I am not trying to be overcritical here, but the dining experience at Yanagi Sushi really isnt that good. A couple of reasons: 1. The floor manager lady really tries to rush our orders. I really enjoy sashimi and asked her what type of sashimi they offer. She recommended me the most expensive sashimi combo and saw me hesitating and then simply left our table. Thats the last time she visited our table. Our empty dishes were left in front of us during the entire course. 2. I have visited quite a few sushi places in the bay area. The quality of Yanagis sushi s is mediocore. Their unagi is pretty good, but tuna and red snapper arent fresh at all. For the price they are charging, I expect something much better. If you are looking for a GREAT sushi place, Katsu sushi in castro valley is much more affordable and genuine. Ray sushi in Hayward isnt bad either., but I heard they changed owners and I havent tried since. Above is just my humble opinion.

I have been a fan of Yanagis and Chef Jays first restaurants in the San Luis Obispo area for many years. A soon as I saw the Yanagi sign I knew Dublin was blessed to get one of the very best sushi chefs around. I will trek many miles to have sushi with Jay and his crew, before Ill settle for sushi anywhere else - even San Fran... Try the Japanese Ceviche if you like a little spice. And the No-Name is so good. Indulge in an order of the grilled Sea Bass. If you like scallops, Jay makes an awesome scallop dish offering it up, both cooked and raw on the same dish. Ask if he has any RedSnapper nigiri.. They recently added a new yummy to the menu, called the Butterfly Kiss for those of you like Salmon and Crab. Love it!

We Wanted to be sure this place was consistently good so we had dinner here 5 or 6 times. We now have a new favorite sushi spot in Dublin! This place is just all around good. We like the tempura, the sushi boat for 2 (just enough to be stuffed), the sake list is great (try the $13 bottle). The fish is very fresh, the prices are right on and the atmosphere is modern and sharp (very clean) The chefs are great and so is the service staff. This is truly a gem that I wish we would of tried earlier. They also do a live cooking show much like those pricey other guys in town but you wont leave feeling the gash in your back pocket. Love this place! Will share with friends and will be a loyal customer for many years to come!

Food was great and the price for two adults with two rolls was not bad. Service on the other hand kinda sucked. Ill admit, it was Saturday at around 530-600, it was getting kind of busy. But the tables to my left and right, had someone come around periodically to ask if things were alright, more drinks, you know, the norm. But they did not once (after we got our food) look at myself or my girlfriend to see if we needed anything. We couldnt even flag down the server who brought the folks to my right their food, she just straight up ignored us. It wasnt until my girlfriend and I just sat there that some one finally came around.

This place is epic for sushi. Clean, open restaurant, with amazing service. The food is delicious. One of the best Sushi restaurants Ive ever been to, and Ive been to many! Big and ample seating inside, and something for everyone. Theres table seating, sushi bar seating, and even Hana style grill seating. For the gourmet rolls youll pay a premium but #TreatYoSelf! Theyre so good! The only weird things are the entrance is in the back, they normally dont turn the "open" sign on, and they have short hours. But totally worth it, even on a short notice

Fresh wasabi. There are a few ways I judge a Japanese restaurant. 1) Tea - green tea was excellent, but by my 4th refill I think they changed to a different brand. 2) Miso - not too sweet, not too salty. Just the right amount of dashi. 3) Rice - lightly sticky. Not clumpy The only thing I could pick on was not enough soba in my taking soba, and just a little too much onion in my katsudon. But wow, the tonkatsu was nicely pounded out and very crispy. Good stuff.

This is definitely a great Japanese restaurant. They have a good selection of food and the price is medium to high. You can spend $100 if youre not careful. They offer a big Sushi Boat which is great for a party of two for about $60. The place gets filled up quickly so get there early.

The specialty rolls were fine and were generous portions, but my hamachi kama collar was very sad looking and stank so bad everyone at the table asked for it to be removed when server bought it out from the kitchen. Clearly was not fresh and likely refrozen. Was taken off the bill.

Went for the teppanyaki. The chef really makes or breaks your cooking experience luckily we had a good one with a sense of humor. Its rare to have a good show full of flaming volcanos and jumping eggs and decent food. Worth a visit if your looking for a dinner and show.

I have been a LONG TIME customer of the various Yanagi chain, but was uphpauled by their adding 18% to our bill without mentioning anything AND the justification was that a 10month old constituted the 6th person in our party!!! Realy? That very desperate and concerning.

The atmosphere was bright, open, and relaxing, the sushi was excellently prepared, sushi chefs themselves at the sushi bar had a wonderful bed side manner, and the service was attentive without being smothering. I will definitely go there again and recommend friends

My all time favorite sushi place so far, we go in about once a week now to see Chef Jay. He is an amazingly creative chef that makes sure his customers leave happy, occasionally we will opt for the Teppanyaki grill instead which is also good.
