Lure is a gem nestled in Camarillo, more specifically in a parking lot right next to an Applebees and with a Wal-Mart across the way. While it has a humble location, Lure has fresh fish, delicious sides, swanky atmosphere, and delicious food. Atmosphere: 5/5 -- Personally I think this place has a really upscale feel without being overly pretentious. -- The oyster bar has a nice feel to it, and every time me and my girl have been weve really impressed with the little touches to the table. We appreciate the candle! -- Last time we went (early December), they had dressed up the place with a little holiday cheer. Classy! Service: 4.5/5 -- Place has always had very kind servers, who have always been helpful when selecting fish. They had a special on swordfish, but my girlfriend wasnt sure how it would taste. They came and sounded like they knew their fish. -- The fish turned out a little dry, and they got right on it and exchanged it for another piece, which was incredibly moist. Thanks! Food: 5/5 -- Their fresh fish really stands out. If youre not a fish guy/gal, this place can really turn you into one. The fish couldnt be fresher! I mean, we live 5 minutes from the ocean, so it better be fresh. -- Their sides, which come with most meals, are great too. Their corn salad with cilantro is so light; I think we could both survive off of it. Their pineapple coleslaw is light and great...both great compliments to whatever you choose. -- The star -- for me at least -- is their cioppino. This lovely soup comes with clams, shrimp, fish, mussels, and octopus all in a beautiful tomato wine broth. You can add linguini one for $3.00 extra, but its not really necessary. This soup packs a powerful punch. -- All of their food is really good, you really cant go wrong. And we actually havent had their oysters, but Im sure theyre great from what everyone else has said. Price: 4/5 -- Not way too expensive, priced just about right. Not someplace that broke-ass college students like ourselves can go every night, but the foods so good we come here monthly it seems. -- Dishes range from $14-23 depending on what you get. A meal for two usually costs like $40 with tip, unless we get an appetizer.

I had two dinners at this restaurant. My first experience in this restaurant was decent; I first knew this restaurant because of a dinner with my friend, who really loved this place for its taste and service, I also enjoyed the food as well. Because of the decent experience, I decided to take my family there again for my moms birthday. When I entered there the staff guided me to the seat, which was at the corner; I really didnt care, however the horrible experience begun there. I order $120 worth of dinner but my dinner came out very late, which is totally understandable if the restaurant was busy, but the day I went there was thursday dinner which isnt that busy for restaurants (It wasnt busy here as well). My server was focusing on the back table and that too is kind of understandable as well, but felt weird. My parents wanted more Ice tea but the server didnt come back with the order for 10 minutes. But the event that led me to write this review was when I was exiting. I called for a check and left my credit card but the serve didnt pick up for 20 minutes, since she was helping the BACK TABLES; for a normal individual about 5 minute wait time is the maximum for waiting for getting check picked up. Since my patience ended my family left the seats and went to the cashier, where the manager(?) was stationed. While card was processing I told her that the server took too long for getting orders processed and checks picked up, I was expecting a simple apology, but she said " She has so many tables (which I think max 4) that is the reason why she couldnt help therefore why cant you understand?" Her response made me to write this review, if I had a simple apology I wouldnt mind this much at all, since I understand most of the times. I felt discriminated since Im colored and the back table wasnt. I never felt this much of a discrimination in my dinner history. I will never go there again even tough the food was great at least.

Normally I would rave about this restaurant! My husband and I love love love going there. On Monday night Memorial day we went to eat in the bar. We sat down ordered our drinks and heard some very loud talking and laughing, not thinking too much about it we proceeded to order our dinner. Through out our whole dining experience this party of 5 were so loud and boisterous that it made our whole dining experience un-enjoyable, This is by no means a cheap restaurant and we go there because the food is great. The restaurant overall is not quite, you can always hear chatter, We know that and except the normal chatter. The worst part was that this one party of loud and boisterous people were basically allowed to take over the whole bar area. You could see it was effecting everyone in the bar area. The patrons and the waitresss and the bar staff were all talking about it. No one actually did anything about it.! We complained to the waitress and then we complained to the manager. The manager finally went over and said something to them, but to no avail the loudness started all over again. We were offered a free dessert for our inconvenience, a nice gesture but not how the situation should have been handles. I cant believe that the restaurant manager or the Lure corporation feels it is correct to let one party of people take over the whole area. One solution would have been to escort them into the Captains Quarters where the door could have been shut! We left very disappointed!

Ive been here twice now, both times with very slow service. I would think they would have enough staff during the week for lunch. My server yesterday was very sweet but not very good at multitasking. My 2 friends arrived before I did by 10 minutes so they just ordered water to wait for me. When I did arrive, it took her some time to get to us. When she did, she asked if she could take my drink order. I told her that we were ready to order everything. She then told me that shell be back then because she has to put in an order for another table. I dont know, why not take our order too and then put them both in? Thats what I would have done. Granted, I was a bartender in college so I am always a bit more critical but I dont think unreasonable. The food is fine. I got oysters both times and they were delicious. I also enjoyed the Veracruz style chowder. Anchor Steam on draft too - not bad. The food isnt epic and 3 of us having a shot of tequila, lunch plates, and one of us having a beer was $80+ before tip. Its on par with Kings Fish House - fresh fish, good dishes, but nothing to make you freak out and want to eat there every day. P.S. Its the holiday season and our server was very sweet in spite of being slow so I did leave more than 20% as a tip. Im not a jerk. :)

I love this place, and Im giving a poor rating because of one bad bartender. Clearly a case of a bad apple ruining the bunch. Alicia is the worst. She is always rude to me. She blatantly ignores me every time Im in. Not to mention she sprays disinfectant near my food. Shes capable of giving good service and being nice because I see her interact with other guests, but Im never given respect. I find this sad. Ive been in the industry for almost 20 years, and I always tip over 20% regardless of service. Not okay to treat guests differently, or with rudeness. She also gives always free drinks to pad her tip if she feels like it. Thats stealing. She should be fired.
